If you want to be proficient at something, you have to obsess over it... or at least work on it daily! And that's especially true for stretching and flexibility for high kicks. Here is a general guide of my daily stretching routine -- I may do some variations, or spend by time foam-rolling if my muscles are especially tight. But either way, at 5pm every single day I work to improve on my flexibility/mobility one way or another.
