It's easier than ever to get a great cup of coffee at home, so why have I chosen the hardest possible way to do it? Introducing my new obsession, lever based espresso, to go along with my other lever based obsession, arcade sticks! Looking forward to using it in future videos, especially the While I'm Making Coffee series.

Your videos are so relaxing to watch man. The background music, camera angles, the gaming topics. For the longest time I couldn’t find your videos anymore but so glad I found them again. Reminds me of a specific time when I was in college. I appreciate you.

YES YES YES YES ... I went from the espresso machine you used to have, to breville bbe, to rancillio silvia pro x, to the flair pro 2, and landed on the flair 58 SE. I"M SOO HAPPY for you. I believe this lever process great fun and perfect for you since you seem to love the process as well. Honestly for anyone interested with a decent budget a highend 1zpresso and a flair pro 2 / 58 is a really really good route. As I have a niche zero and when you buy really light roast beans the machine actually struggles to grind the beans and has stalled a couple times with a horrifying mechanical slipping sound. Anyway enjoy I love where this is going. Edit: watching this wow the new case is so much better than the old pro 2 case.

honestly, i think only pourovers are the best value. going to a cafe is... actually somewhat cheaper than the whole espresso + grinder set. plus, you get to enjoy the architecture, people, etc, things that are priceless.

I was kind of hoping we'd see it in use, but on another note, I literally had my daughter read "If you give a Mouse a cookie" to me just the other day, so if that wasn't fresh in my mind, that point would've gone straight over my head

My man! I knew it! I think you're really going to love the Flair. Espresso is like a whole new hobby to tinker with when you're already into coffee. Dialing in the grind, getting the temperature just right, and pulling the shot is such a fiddly process that's super fun. I assume you already know about James Hoffman's channel, but if you haven't you should definitely check out his videos. He goes in depth with the Flair (and a lot of other coffee stuff too) and has great tutorials on getting the most out of the different brew methods. Dude gets way into the weeds with coffee and it's great. Next is buying your beans green and roasting them yourself. The rabbit hole just goes deeper!

Love these coffee videos! The Flair Pro 2 is one of the machines I've been eyeing for a while (their 58X being one of the others) because I really like the idea of manually doing it. Kind of like being able to pull off a hard combo in a tournament: even pros can drop them in critical matches, so you need to be present in the process to make sure it comes out ok.

My descent down the rabbit hole lead me to backing the meticulous espresso machine on Kickstarter XD... If it hadn't shown up at the right time I would have wound up with a flair 58.

The Classic and Signature also have carrying cases. Temp control is pretty bad on the Pro 2 as the big thick metal takes so much to heat up so consistency is not the best. I upgraded to the Flair 58 a couple of years ago and keeping the temp stable is a massive improvement. Its been my only espresso machine for 2 1/2 years now. The idea that a more expensive machine gets you a better drink is absolutely wrong, you need to learn alot with semi automatics as well like dialing in grind size, temp management and puck prep and thats a way before learning pressure or flow profiles. The rabbit hole goes very deep and the Pro 2 is a great learning tool, I just got frustrated with temp control. The easiest way to get your brew chamber hot is to put it on top of the kettle as you are boiling your water. You can get silicon holders that fit on most kettles. Also get a temp strip to stick it on the chamber so you can see how hot it is.

Just wait until Hitbox releases their leverless coffee maker. Boy, will you look dumb after that for learning the KBD Coffee tech on stick! For real though, I'm a very casual coffee drinker. I'll take instant coffee with no issues and when I actually have the choice I'll just get a latte. Maybe there's more I should look into in the future.

This is the mid-level option they offer, they have a entry level one around $100! Still, $100 dollars is a lot of money for a lot of people, although I'd argue if you like getting espresso-based drinks in cafes regularly you'd easily spend $100 in a matter of a month if you get one every day, so $100 is a steal!
