My effort at DIY For Knuckleheads workbench.
This must have been my first bit of proper woodwork due to cutting the joints, as shown in his video. After watching dozens of videos on the subject I could see that this was the simplest and cheapest way to get a decent workbench made. I highly recommend it.
Check out his video at • How to Build a Workben...
Special thanks to DIY For Knuckleheads for making the video.

I'm going to try this bench by uncle Knackers, seems simple enough. Functional, strong and will do the job

Really nice thought, making a box for the dog's ashes.

Thanks! I thought it was a bit odd that they wanted to bury the box and take it with them rather than let it just go back to the earth but each to their own. I did 3 coats of yacht varnish and made it solid but if it was me I'd want to either have an ornate box to keep the ashes in long term or one to bury it in and get that closure. Thanks so much for your comment!

Nice. I am about to make my own bench too, based on his design and process. He is a good lad for sure! Thanks for this video mate, very useful.

Thanks for commenting! It's definitely worth making. I must admit, I wish I'd have made it around 10cm shallower to allow for more space in the workshop but the bench is brilliant and I can't see myself ever needing more. Just a good solid flat surface that I can hammer on if necessary with plenty of storage space underneath. All the best! Andy

Haven't watched the whole video but should of left a slight overhang on the front for clamping unless you have a plan for that🤔

I'd left an overhang at the side, but it's a good shout.

Well done, Mate. I love his channel too and I am j7st starting woodworking. Out of interest how big a shed are you in because i'm looking at a 8x6 for my workshop? Thanks and good luck with your future projects

Hi there! He's got such a perfect channel for new woodworkers. If you're in the UK, I'd strongly suggest resisting the urge to build a workbench before you've got insulation and dust extraction sorted. Everyone says this bit it's so true. An absolute nightmare to insulate when kit is in. Even if its just polystyrene boarded over then get it done first. And the dust extraction is going to depend on where you want things to be. My workshop is 2.5m x 5m which is something like 7.5ft x 15ft. Not huge but its what I've got. A solid prefab concrete garage came with the house so I had to use it as it was. I just insulated and hooked up electric

Great Video. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to check out the vid for the bench. Are those magnetic strips holding tools over the bench??

Hi! Yes they're magnetic strips. I've just screwed them into the OSB ceiling and it's that bit more storage for miscellaneous magnetic items right where I need them. It's handy to have them on show so I'm not rustling around in drawers when I need something. I found the strips in 3 packs on Amazon.co.uk for £7.99 each (about $10USD). I think there's 3 or 4 packs up there. Thanks for your comment! It was just a quick video. I've shot a bit of a longer one but need to edit it together.

For the plywood top of the workbench, how thick plywood should you get plus how many sheets of it (one on top of the other)? Would mdf work well too you think?

I'd go with plywood and ideally I'd say 18mm thick but have supports underneath it. It'll be rock solid.

Any will do as long as its a rectangle shape, so that you can do the cutaways. If I recall, my legs are 4"2, but it's been a while. Have a look at DIY For Knuckleheads video for a step by step.
