Im literally crying as I watch, I’m just so ready to actually have some MORE RELIEF than THIS😢🙏🏾 I suffered with hemorrhoids for 5 years, internal and external. I’m 8 days post op and I’m soaking in the tub like 4 to 5 times a day. I’m so scared to actually eat, I’ve been drinking Boost drinks with fiber. I’m having bowel movements daily cause of the fiber intake, miralax every other day, and I also take a stool softener every night. My 8 year old is tired of sandwiches lol my emotions are all over the place (I try my hardest not to cry too loud cause of my daughter) it’s just her and I. I don’t have friends or family that have had hemorrhoids or this surgery so I’m so glad I found you...(someone who understands, and don’t constantly say “you should be feeling better by now”🙄) you’ve been so transparent, thank you. Thank you for your tips❤️

Oh girl!! I’m sorry I can tell that you and I had the rough recovery. 😭 mine was awful too and I get you with the crying. I had to turn up some music because it was so painful and I’d cry too! :”( Yeah you’re doing the best you can with the tub soaks and nourishment! It’s just a waiting game on how fast you will heal! I couldn’t even have a BM without pain so you’re the MVP because there was no way I was going ham with fiber!! I appreciate the comment :”) I try to be honest about those things because yes, it’s certainly not a glamorous subject BUT it happens and it happens to a lot of people and most people are silent because of the stigma. I pray that you heal faster so you can start the new chapter without the hemorrhoids! 🙏🏼💕

I just read your post about being 8 days out and the pain sounds like it’s still really intense?? I am scheduled to have my surgery next week but I HAVE to be all the way healed and back to 100% in 3 weeks bc it’s my youngest son’s birthday and we are going on a trip. Do you feel like there’s any improvement in pain at all (at 2 weeks post op)? Have your stitches dissolved yet? I have so many questions! I’m a single mom and I HAVE to be able to walk and run and sit no matter what 3 weeks after my surgery, do you think that’s possible? I’m scared now.

Must be at least over 4 weeks post op and how have you been feeling? I am post op day 5 and had my first BM night of day 3 and worst experience of my life. Have you noticed any skin tags since the surgery? If so, have they increased or decreased in number and size. My colorectal surgeon never talked about it and quiet a few other topics that I learnt watching various videos. Has life been back to normal now? I would appreciate your response whenever you can.

just wanted to share a little positivity. I am 3 days post op and feeling much better. The day of surgery was a cake walk because of the anesthesia, the pain came in about 12 hours later when it began to wear off. I’ve been taking pain meds around the clock with stool softener. Day 1 post op was probably the worst. I was in constant pain and no position seemed to alleviate the pain. You really just have to tough that day out and know better days are coming. I also told myself that my mind is playing little tricks on me because of the location it’s coming from (lets be honest, of all locations on the body, the bottom HAS to be one of the most sensitive) I am not in any type of danger and this is part of the HEALING process which is much better than being in pain due to hemorrhoids with no optimistic ending - at least with this I know I’ll feel better once it’s all over with. Today on day 3 I had my first BM which was not painful but very uncomfortable due to the pressure. I highly anticipated being constipated but to my surprise I was not. I have been taking Colace + miralax and really only eating dairy free yogurt so this may have helped. For me the worst thing has been the butt spasms!! And I still do not know how to control them. Things that helped me - HOT Sitz baths as many times as I please - Staying on track with medication - Soft food diet - Stool softeners - heating pad Best of luck to you all. We will get through this!

Almost 3 months post-surgery & I’m FINALLY starting to feel like myself again. My God. The pain is horrific, but the results are undeniable. They say you’ll be fine in two weeks, but shiiidd. Lol Here are my brief tips: 1. Try squatting over the pot as opposed to sitting. 2. Take the stool softeners & fiber forevermore. 3. Bowel movements BURN for a while post surgery, so try hopping straight in the shower afterwards & rinse 🚿 instead of wiping. Know this: IT. GETS. BETTER. 👊🏾

My bf had this surgery and what helped him the most was definitely the baths! Also, while we were in the hospital his nurse got some lidocaine spray from L&D and sent him home with some. That also helped immensely! By the 3rd week he was feeling pretty much 100% I feel so bad for anyone who has this surgery. It was so hard watching him recover and how rough it was ☹️

I am 8 days post op. Let me tell you, I had NO idea what I was getting myself into. I thought a couple days and I would be fine. The first 2 days were okay, but near the end of day 2 I started panicking because I know I needed to have a BM soon. I had a panic attack, and went to sleep. The next morning I had my first BM and it did not go well, lots of straining due to medication. I was in so much burning pain for about 5 hours after. Later that day I started getting muscle spasm anytime I would finally fall asleep and relax my body. I was not able to sleep and too scared to eat, the prescribed pain killers were making me nauseous and dizzy. I felt weak and started throwing up and went to emergency to get help with the pain. Day 4 was the worst day of my life, had another bowel movement and I was in agonizing pain, it hurt way more than the first one to the point I felt like I couldn’t breathe or move. I went to emergency because the pain was so excruciating, crying my eyes out. They injected me with pain killers and finally felt better but so mentally and physically exhausted. Every day after that has slowly gotten better. It is still painful but much easier to handle. I was so depressed the first few days I really felt like I made a huge mistake and I was so scared there was no light at the end of the tunnel. Now on Day 8 I can say I’m starting to see the light and can actually walk now. I wish anyone who doesn’t this a speedy recovery as this has been hell for me.

I searched out your video because I am having the same surgery in about 2 weeks. I've been living with internal hemorrhoids and bleeding issues for almost 15 years now. Bleeding every day became my "norm" and I always ignored it and told myself it was just part of life. Recently the bleeding became so severe that I would sit down on the couch and when I got up there would be a pool of blood where I was sitting. The final straw came at work. When a co-worker pulls you aside to ask you why there is blood on the back of your pants it's definitely time for a change. I will admit that I'm a bit intimidated by this surgery. I had my Gallbladder removed on Monday of this week and that was pretty damn bad so I can only imagine what a surgery in my butt is going to feel like lol. I have to believe the progress will be worth the pain! Thank you for being so open and honest about your experience!

After first four to five days you will get better following everyday. Sometimes u may feel the present day Was worst than the previous day. But ultimately u will heal, after 4-5 weeks u will feel that I am really healing. But to heal completely I will take some time. U have to be patient.

Daily walking helps to stimulate a bowel movement, try this if you’re constipated. My surgeon stressed the importance of daily walking and it worked for me. I started walking on day 3 about 15min each time. I was on fiber pills and stool softener, so I made sure to walk within my neighborhood close to home where I’ll have quick access to a bathroom. I circled the same block several times and it helps.

Thank you for your post. Wish I saw it before my surgery. I was told that it was the most painful surgery you can have. It was! I went to the Dr and had one lanced, at month later I developed 2 very large and painful hemorrhoids. Saw the Dr immediately and was scheduled for surgery the next day. 2 things I did after surgery was, use a hair dryer to dry my butt area off after a shower ( set on cool) And when I had a BM ( after the first one that was extremely painful, I had my next BM with my butt in the sitz bath. Sounds gross but it was less painful. At that point I didn’t care what I had to do as long as I wasn’t screaming and crying. Took a long time to heal. Over a month. I’m fine and thankful they are gone and no more pain. Bless you for sharing. People need to know how to deal with this kind of surgery. Best to you. God bless.

Ale, I've asked a lot of questions and you have really helped. Got surgery done today! On soup. Ice pops. Taking percocet every 4 hrs right now. No problems w pharmacy! They have me packed up pretty good. Still numb. I got it done at 9am and it's 9pm now. I can feel the local injections are wearing off. If it helps others. I drank 2 bottles of lime magnesium citrate which tasted ok. Then 32oz of water. I was bleeding badly so didn't want to take NSAIDs during prep. I swole up badly. Worst pain and swelling I've running back and from toilet. I agree. Surgeon was like start eating oatmeal and heavy fiber. Just totally agree you. Too early. You can stimulate a bowel movement w milk of magnesia and mirlax. Keep it soft and easy w stool softeners, I can feel pain coming. Better to learn how your body adjusts to pain, how much a bath helps pain first, how much pain pills help or not, I feel it is too much to deal w movement the first 3 days wo understanding how your body reacts. Also huge stress dump getting to surgery day and finishing it. Then moving to next step of starting to heal. I know it's embarrassing, but thanks a lot for putting yourself out there and sharing. Key is we are all different. People, dont obsess over all the youtube content. It will just stress you out preop. But do learn the tricks like ale shares. Clean bath, have stuff ready, etc. Final thought. I've tried all the 5% lidocaine creams last night while preparing. Personally, recticare didn't do much if you wait and am in full pain. Get in front of pain and numb up before prep. I'll do the same every bath, movement, etc. I do like the ointment bc the light white petroleum stuff washes/wipe off. You can also put a squirt on palm and mix it w squirt of heavy petroleum antibiotic cream w lidocaine in it. Then apply and it sits there better and gets you numb wo melting so fast and pad doesn't seem to absorb it away. On the pads. Just keep it in underwear. Dont stick gauze or the ana pads up were it touches the rectum. I made that mistake during prep to control bleeding and drainage. And it made it raw. As a guy, if you have urine retention, try and go after pain pill kicks in. I want to go right to sleep at first and realized I woke up w full bladder right as med was wearing off. Still on first days, but better than getting catheter. Also , once you are bathing and packing comes out, use the hot water to stimulate urination. Dont worry if you pee in tub or shower. Good luck. My long 2 cents. But this shit is no joke. Not looking forward to 1st bm but we will see. Thanks again!!

@@AleOmalley I'm 8 days post op now. Just had 1st bm yesterday. I was getting worried. Take those stool softeners. I started the day before w 15ml of milk of magnesia in morning with lots of water and 15ml more at night. Woke up day 7 still nothing. Was worried. Wife made huge bowl of oatmeal w an apple. I pushed milk of magnesia up to 30ml earlier that morning. Then stood up 10 min after eating on my side and felt it. Had big bm. Didn't hurt like a lot of people describe. I very gently pushed and it just kept coming. Very little blood. Used wet wipes to clean up best I could , ate percocet and 400mg of ibuprofen and jumped in tub. No soap! Water cleaned everything just fine, then quick shower to clean off. Pain was throbbing for hour or so. I highly recommend taking gas x with your stool softeners. I take 2 softeners w each meal. And one gas pill per meal. No diarrhea. Got wife to dry me off with cold setting on hair dryer. Noticed little outside stitch came out in time. It dissolved off. No popping thank God. Then today, day 8 or 9. No milk of magnesia. Ate oatmeal w yogurt mixed in and apple. 15 min and I could feel it. Still hurt but was easier. More blood bc I upped the ibuprofen. I bleed badly before surgery and had to watch NSAIDs anyway. Popped percocet, wet wipes, then in tub. Was able to clean area w finger under water. Pain subsided faster 2nd go around. I've been eating more solid food. Light turkey sandwich and salad w fruit cup for last 4 dinners. We are all different, but I suggest going easy on laxatives. Can give you poop discharge when you fart. Again take gas x. Took your suggestion and use recticare after cleaning area gently w wet wipes about every time I pee. Like 6 times a day. And change pads. I use those 4×4 nonstick ones. 100 in a pack off Amazon. Just fold it and put in crack, not touching rectum after generous recticare application. Wearing cheap target brand depends. Laying on side. 5 seasons into Homeland. Not trying to be gross. But this requires real talk. Not trying to hijack your thread either. Just giving guy's perspective. Hopefully, tomorrow will keep getting easier. Thanks for letting me share.

@@wisdomspeaks7474 sorry to hear that. My surgery was april 21st. I just hit like 21 days or 3 full weeks. Went to surgeon yesterday for follow up. She said I was about 60% healed. I just got the hemroidectomy, but I had bad one. Another month and she said it would be emergency surgery from the bleeding I was having. Glad I got it fixed. Still gets sore sitting. I'm still using recticare and wear 4x4 nonstick pad in cheeks. Drainage is minimal now. I don't bleed much anymore when going to bathroom. If I overdo the NSAIDs like advil, I can bleed. Biggest issue is getting regular. Either eat and have diarrhea or like now , haven't gone in 3 days. Worried about going back to work next week bc gas reeks man. :) whole office would call me out. Also will have to carry wet wipes, pads, and recticare to work. As for you, try and eat liquid and stuff like yogurt. I'm not a doctor, but mine was pissed I went 8 days wo a movement. In reality, just take 2 stool softeners each meal w gasx pill. Big gas hurts. Then like day six start w 15ml of milk of magnesia once in morning then once at night. That's like 1/4normal dose. I still couldn't go, so then took 30ml next morning. Then like hour later had really easy smooth firm movement. Used wet wipes to knock of most of it, then got in warm tub. You will want to take out packing like day 2 in warm tub. I couldn't do sitz baths. So did tub 2x day. Had wife dry my rear w cold hair dryer. Then put on recticare. I was on 5/325mg percocet every 4 hours for first 5 or 6 days. Then added one 200mg ibuprofen. Makes me bleed so I couldn't take full dose of ibuprofen. Get in the tub and let warm water get on your penis. See if you can relax enough to pee. Goal is to get that catheter out. You don't want a urinary tract infection. Plus, can make your urethra raw. Just adds to pain. But if you need it, you need it. Dont be afraid to ask for percocet. Not hydrocodone if you are in that much pain. Tell them your pain is an 11. And you dont want to go to er, or just go to er and tell them you need better pain control. You will get through it. This KZfaq content will make you anxiety ridden. Mine was 20% of what I thought it would be watching all these videos. Men are different. Get friend to change out your shower head w handheld one if you can. Helps a lot week 2. Gentle warm water spray wo sitting in dirty sitz bath. Get flushable wet wipes. Dont use toilet paper.! Put them in trash. Otherwise you clog toilet and cant fix it in your current pain level. Feel free to ask me anything. Get good probiotic or eat yogurt. Settles gut. Just order it all and wipes off amazon. I use hypoallergenic cottenelle wipes. No dude wipes or fragrances. Let me know if I can help. Stay on side or stomach. Try not to stand as blood drops to ass and it throbs. Take pain pills time it 30m before you get up. Eat on side. I also ate whey based protein bars. Hope this helps. Ask me if I can help. Not many men posting w good advice. Trick is stay in front of pain. Keep notepad with med schedule. Not too much, but not to little. Plus, if you need more narcotics, docs believe you if you can show them you are trying to be responsible.

Hi Laura! :") I'm so happy it can help you in some way!! I appreciate the comment :"). I was in surgery for about an hour and a half and then you come to and youre in the recovery room. The nurse will ask you questions like your pain level, how it went and so on. I asked for anti nausea because I tend to get very nauseous quite easily and then I puke so, I asked for that and a codene because I wanted to cover my butt just in case I didn't get the medicine in time (which I didn't until hours later so thank God I requested it!) Other than that I got the medicine and I dressed myself *slowly because you'll be slightly drowsy, you feel like you just woke up and are in a hurry lol They won't rush you but I wanted to get going. My sweetheart drove me so I had a pillow I brought from home for my butt and when I got the medicine and got home I was in bed. I actually felt good and silly me because it was really the medicine but I thought I may have a case where it doesn't hurt. (I was told some women deal with it best) I didn't have the best experience with my first BM but some folks on this thread got lucky and had smooth sailing! I pray that it isn't that difficult for you! SITZ BATHS after every bathroom go, and even just because. I was in my tub so much. It was soothing and helped my area heal faster, or at least I feel like the warmth helped it seal up in there. Drink a lot of water and I was on a soup diet for the first few days. Take the COLACE and do not feel bad if you can't go or feel swollen, its normal, you've been cut is be patient with yourself and trust your body! Of course of you get other issues or just get worried that's okay too! Call your surgeon and they will help you through it! Good luck!! :) Let me know if you have other questions.

4 days post op from hemorrhoidectomy. I had external and 1 internal removed. I have to say day 2 after the numbing wore off completely was the worse!!! I cried all day and could not move. I did have a BM on day 3 it hurt but not ridiculously bad. You'll have pain with BMs for a little while it's part of the healing. What worked for me was excessive water. You have to stay hydrated. I eat1 prune a day and drunk 8 ounces of prune juice. That helps your bowls move.drink ginger water take your pain meds on time. I also bought a portable bidet from Amazon which has been amazing for keeping the area clean. Another thing that works wonders is filling a surgical glove with warm water and placing it in place by the incision. ( trust me try it) I had major regrets on day 2 but I feel like I'm rounding the corner soon. I know the pain is temporary and I am pushing through. We all got this!!! Good luck to you all going through this😊

@@TheGemini5 you won't regret it ! It was worth it . I'm all the way healed now 🙏 the first 2 weeks will kinda suck during the healing process the 3rd week gets better you'll start not to hurt than you'll be okay. After the surgery it will hurt , I woke up from the surgery in pain . ask them for pain killers if they don't give you some when you wake up . Wasn't really bad but you will forsure be in some pain I was at least once I came to my senses haha I was laying there on the bed curled up not wanting to get up and leave for a few minutes 😅 after they got me up and going and the pain killers kicked in I was okay . Sit on your side as much as possible . I got non stick Gauze pads used a&d ointment on them placed it in my butt on the womb from the surgery, keep it on there every day . Sometimes let it air dry . Place a gauze with no ointment sometimes , I kept a gauze on it daily because the cuts leaked . For the first 2 weeks or so . They will prescribe pain killers those will help you alot , I had trouble sleeping some nights because the pain so those helped me , it eased the pain. Sleep on your sides if you lay on your butt it will hurt. Using the restroom will hurt 😢 not really bad but you'll feel pain . Use baby wipes the whole time . Try not to push when pooping. I also rinsed my butt after each time using the rest room we have a pull off shower head so it helped me. Get a sitz bath to sit soak your butt that helped me with the pain. I used the epsom salt to it helped the healing process. I used it after a few days it the sitz bath. It's the toilet thing you sit on I got one to place over my toilet seat . Drink lots of water and some pedialtye stay hydrated as much as possible

day 8 post op - i will say there is nothing to compare this pain to because of the location …. finally feel “ ok” day 7 . I was very lucky i was able to go to the bathroom almost immediately, i started stool softener 2 days before the surgery and that made movements so much easier. I stopped pain pills after 2 days, drank a lot of water and supplemented w motrin . Colase, sitz baths , miralax and a healthy diet will help you have soft stool which is key to your recovery. i was back at work day 6 ( desk job) . preparation is key 🙏🏻

Before the surgery, did you ever have bandings done? I’ve been suffering w hemorrhoids for years!!!! 10 plus! And I’m 29! I have internal and external(skin tags) but they definitely get swollen after every bm. I totally understand doctors not taking you serious! It’s super frustrating. I’ve had some success w banding but at this point it’s maintenance. I’ve seen 5 doctors, only one said I should do the surgery. All the other colorectal surgeons told me no cause the pain and chance of it happening again. I’m so torn what to do, this has absolutely effected my life and day to day. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@AleOmalley
@AleOmalley 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Danielle! I'm 29 too! I had them for about 10 years so I feel your pain!! :L As for the banding, I didn't get it because my family member had it done and it didn't work for her so she told me if I was going to do it to actually get them cut out because it was arguably just as painful in their experience and they just came back again so they had the surgery afterwards too. For me, I was told about the bands as well but I said no and I had to plead with the surgeon a bit, I let them know how tired I was of them and how it was affecting my life i.e I could feel it in the morning / all day , at the gym and mainly every time I went to the bathroom. I would let them know and INSIST on removal via surgery. It does hurt but remember, they're GONE and if they come back then I will cross that road when I'm there but the feeling I have now post op is amazing and when my Dr said if I was sure, I said if it helps me feel even 5% better than how I am right now, then I'll do it and then he said Okay but I had to really explain why I needed it. I think some healthcare folks rather not do the surgeries but if you get the chance do it for yourself and fight for it!! Some folks on here have written in and said they had minimal pain after the surgery so it is different for EVERYONE so remember that aka it may be less painful for you than it was for me. But...if possible, I would say keep telling them it hurts and is bothering your way of life, you'll deal with the surgery and It's scary but you can at least have them gone and I noticed with learning about fibre for me it has made a world of difference in my BM and just how I live. Think about it and if you're able to, do it! Don't give up!!!

I'm in the same boat. Had banding twice (last time was in January 2020). I'm better but I'm on the fence about the surgery (which I literally just scheduled a few minutes ago for June 17th). I'm considering canceling and dealing with the few that I have left. It's just frustrating having to deal with external. I try to shower after every BM but that isn't always possible with makes me very uncomfortable 🤦🏾‍♂️

I felt like I had to share because all stories are a bad and mine hasn’t been bad I got surgery on Friday and it’s Sunday I was uncomfortable that night and I took a tramádol I decided to take the opiates the least posible so I wouldn’t be constipated. After that taking ibuprofen almost no pain. The night of the op I pooped lose and the bandage inside came out with some blood(normal) I had taken coolace before the op that was a good idea no real pain discomfort yes.Today Sunday 2nd poop damn it used to be more painful before I was afraid but I told myself don’t let fear stop you. It wasn’t bad I didn’t bleed like I used to I went 3 times soft I take 2 coolace a day eat pineapple and papaya. I just felt a little sore after that I put on the ointment. Don’t expect the worse but be prepared for the worse. Good luck with the operation,

I had grade 3 hemorrhoids for several years. Had a consultation with a doctor and got the low down. His words were "you will likely be in considerable pain for 7-14 days, but it will improve day after day and you will be glad you had the procedure done." Hearing this, I kinda had hesitancy to the procedure. I waited another year and my hemorrhoids would bleed after every BM to the point one day my pants were stained with blood while at work. I couldnt deal with it any longer. I was uncomfortable usually half a day and I hated using the bathroom. One year later, I went for another consultation and said "screw this, let's do it". I scheduled the procedure and of course read people's experiences. Definitely didn't help with my hesitancy. People made it sound like losing a limb was a better option than surgery. Went in for my surgery. Got prepped. Nurse couldn't hit my vein in my hand. Other nurse came in and hit it. Went to surgery. Woke up and I was completely numb. Doctor said I should be numb for 24-72 hours. Of course, it wore off in 8. Pain was there, but nothing like it was described online. No, I didn't want to sit down much, but if I was on a pillow it wasn't TOO bad. The key for me was the Sitz bath. That helped quite a bit. I had my first BM that night (a quickie from the leftover enema I gave myself prior to the surgery). Some blood plus the packing he put in. A bit of a sting but not unbearable. They sent me home with some Oxycodone. Wasn't thrilled about taking it, but the nurse said at least take it the first several days. I took one the first night with some Ibuprofen. Slept ok as long as I was on my side. The next day the pain was worse, but again, bearable. Refused to take anymore Oxy. Don't need that in my life, plus was afraid of constipation. Uncomfortable to sit, even on a pillow, but if I cocked myself to the side, I could manage. Had first full BM third day. That one hurt, but again, bearable. As days went on, it got easier and easier and all I'd take was Ibuprofen. I was back to work in 5 days with no more bleeding, etc. The one thing I did see for the first several weeks is some leakage after my BMs to where I'd have to go back to the restroom and clean 30-60 mins after a BM, but even that went away. So all in all, I just want to say that this procedure was life-changing. No more bleeding. No more discomfort. I even took a cross-country flight 3 weeks post surgery with zero issues. I would do it again 100 times if I had to. I basically have my life back and I am so happy. Just because people had a bad experience, doesn't mean you will. And even if you do, you will be ecstactic with the results down the road.

Ale, thank you so much, crying from my bathtub as I type this. I'm day 6 post op and have had a few BMS and each one has been traumatic. Like I was having too bite rags and towels and it was just bad. I tried just eating soft foods and soups. Yesterday my mom encouraged me to eat some oatmeal and it was awful. Like I've dealt with dislocations, child birth. This was off the charts worse. I'm seriously considering a clear liquid diet for 4 or 5 days to let my bottom rest and heal and then doing a full liquid diet until it's fully healed. Has anyone else done this? Did it help if you have? My aunt helped me the first four days but now I just have my sister popping in randomly and my mom popping in once a day so I'm trying to be as independent as possible with it. Also a long with the like on the video Ale, I've subscribed and I can't wait to see more of your content. Thank you so much for all the info!
