You built a life, a career and business in a new country - you also speak clearer English than many of us (Glasgow and Newcastle, I'm looking at you) PLUS you're now more educated than most of us could dream of. Well done.

Hey, awesome! It's funny how more and more subjects are becoming 'academic'. I did a performance music degree in the 90s, as that was the expected thing if you wanted to play in an orchestra. Some famous players these days stay studying performance until they are about 30. However, 120 years ago nobody would have gone to uni to do this, and it was expected that the most talented 'virtuoso' should stop having regular lessons at the age of about 14, as otherwise it might inhibit their individuality. It's an amazing difference to today ... I sometimes wonder whether we are all suffering from arrested development, as we have been over-institutionalised. Certainly this is the reason that Classical musical performances these days are utterly boring compared to 1920. At Uni you can now study 'how to play' Jazz and Rock - God, I bet that would have ruined the Beatles.

Having a masters will always impress at an interview, the letters MA after ones name on the application will give an impression of someone not afraid of work, irrespective of whether it is actually relevant.

When have you last applied for a job in the U.K.?
@tonys1636
@tonys1636 3 жыл бұрын
@@caterinas6863 Would have been the late 70's but never applied they approached me, I think the term is "head hunted". From the mid 80's I was the employer and letters after a name implied that the applicant had a certain intelligence and would have had to do some work to gain the qualification, common sense was more important for me and the correct "clean" licences along with not having served time for a criminal offence. A requirement imposed by the relevant regulators. Now retired since 07 and an ex pat.

Great job making it to the end and getting your degree(soon). It does not seem like it has been that long since you started. I remember when you said you were starting the degree, just in case. It is smart getting the credentials to back up your job. I went back to school later in life to make a career change. I graduated, but it did not pay off and I am back using my original degree. Congratulations.

Had a very similar "university experience"to yours, back in the day. Commuted to and from a Center Building away from the "main campus" of my university; which I might have visited twice, including Graduation Day. It was what it was.....

Writing a dissertation in another language? Respect! Your bibliography should be easy to write if you never used a library book. The Harvard system is a pain.

@@jenifferschmitz8618 CANZUK is a white fantanisty as conveniently missed out are the the other 3 original Empire Dominions. As an Australian told me 'what would we want from the UK that we can't get from the Pacific Rim at 2/3rds the price and twice the reliability, but it does offer the chance to dump agri products!!!'

@@jenifferschmitz8618 > *there more UK citizens in Australia than in the whole EU.* That's not true. Based on permanent residence figures, the numbers are comparable. Adding in fellow Brits based in the UK, who constantly travel to (for work, research, etc., not tourism) the EU vs. Australia, and Europe wins hands down. There are however more British citizens in the US than in the EU or Australia. The US, is essentially the first european Union, being federalised and settled by multiple european peoples. > *we already have common laws* Oh, really? But Brexidiots have been telling us, that Brussels makes all our laws. > *shared head of state* Nobody cares about the Queen. She's a tourist attractor. She does nothing and has no power. Not even the Tories respect her, as demonstrated by how those faux patriots, Johnson and Mogg, had no qualms in deliberately deceiving her last year in September. > *we all speak english* News flash. The entire world speaks English. And every kid in Europe is forced to learn English from nursery onwards. There are tonnes of jobs and degrees even in Germany which are only run in English. It's called globalism. Also news flash: Australia and New Zealand trade with East Asia. I wOnDeR hOw ThEy Do ThAt? Also … I thought Brexit was about _going global_ and not about restricting the parts of the world our country engages with-so why the obsession with _only_ ‘English speaking’ countries? > *there all the wealthy parts of the commonwealth Canada Australia and new Zealand are resource rich* (-> *they're* ) So what do you propose? Should we colonise them or just claim their resources as ours … bEcAuSe We SpEaK eNgLiSh and ReMeMbEr EmPiRe? > *we even have shared spy network the five eyes* And we have the European branch of NATO, Europol, Euratom, ESA, …. So what's your point? Also, I though Brexiters were oh-so-averse to trade alliances being combined with military alliances? > *and people down under may want to live somewhere not in middle of know where* (-> *nowhere* ) Those people migrated to that country for a reason-to live in the middle of nowhere. If they don't want to live in the middle of nowhere, then why the hell do they live there? This argumentation is utter tripe. Also, why would modern British citizens, who want to take part in globalism want to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world? > *liveing some where warmer* (-> *living* ) We already have really hot Summers in Europe (incl. in England). Not saying those 3 other countries aren't good, but your argument trying to make them seem to have something that we don't really makes no sense.

Interesting video! How did you get onto a Masters course without a Bachelors degree? How much is the postgraduate loan? Is it a Government loan or personal bank loan? Congratulations 🥳 on finishing your Masters... you can write MA after your name now! 👍
@JenDre
@JenDre 3 жыл бұрын
It's pretty common to be able to get into a Masters course without a BA within the Arts. I think the postgrad loan was capped at £10k but I didn't take out that much - it's a loan from Student Finance England and you pay it back via your income, though you can make voluntary payments on top!

Yes Of course having a degree shows a degree(lol) of dedication and purpose, intelligence etc and will only promote the view of you from other people, in the job/employment world, so stop babbling about how maybe it isnt going to help at all and sit down, be bored yes but look at those books, get a bored pen and start bored writing, maybe it wont stay so boring after a while.
