Hello everybody! My name is Kayla. I am a student massage therapist from Northeast Ohio. I once suffered from debilitating neuromuscular disease that ruined my quality of life but manual therapy fully restored me! I share everything I’ve done to recover on this channel and also in my Facebook recovery group The Duncan Recovery Method. Regaining my health is what inspired me to go to school to become a licensed massage therapist. My expected graduation date is 7/7/22!
This video shows the techniques that I used to overcome skull base pain and limited neck mobility due to a locked AO joint. Links for references made in this video are as follows:

Thank you for the guidance you’ve shared. Without people like you doing such for others, us people wouldn’t know what road to take. Ive had seizures after years of tight neck pain back of head pain. My neck isn’t of any interest to any neurologist I’ve had to see. Physics is very important and I now know not to trust such doctors looking to just refill anti seizure meds.

Hi Kayla, Thanks again for all your videos! I'm trying to write about my symptoms dealing with hEDS and a childhood whiplash injury at six years old. Drop attacks have been a huge part of my condition since 19 years old, I am now 51. You had a perfect description of an uncontrolled fall to the ground in one of your videos so I'm wondering if you remember the descriptive words you used. I'll keep re-watching your videos and try to find it. Best, Kevin

hey did you ever experience any vision changes while going through the occipital neuralgia? For example, eyes had a hard time tracking. Like a car going down the street and you try and watch it go by and then get a dizzy feeling. Or was it hard to read at all? in the sense your eyes had a hard time focusing? Thanks.

Hi, I just found you today. Thank you so much for your education. When you had this issue did you feel nauseous, fatigue, inner tremors in trunk of body or anything like that? I’ve realized that if I prop my head up on a pillow, lie on my side (even with my neck straight) and if my posture isn’t just right I can feel horrible. The symptoms I mentioned above. I don’t understand why a neck issue can cause such distress.

Hi Kayla, may I please ask, did your glossopharyngeal neuralgia go away and, if yes, what modality mostly helped with it? I know you from Facebook and I know you've done lots of trigger point work and other modalities, just wondering what helped specifically with glossopharyngeal neuralgia. I have it also, as well as mild trigeminal involvement, and the rest of the neck issues very similar to yours. Thank you for sharing your experience on this channel and on Facebook.

I'm smiling while watching you. Im so happy for your recovery kayla! I just have a question, when did you start doing those massages, the chintucks and dr. Mendel excercise. Is it after doing the crualistic or while also doing the crualistic? 😊
@KaylaDuncanLMT
@KaylaDuncanLMT 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the support, Melissa! Smiling is contagious. I love to smile! I first did professional massage therapy. Then a few months later I found curalistic. I began the program and physical therapy at the same time. My PT was generally dry needling only. I added the FNP program in February of last year and did that WITH my other therapy for six months. Then I really dig into strengthening. These techniques are the finishing touches on my recovery journey. I just recently beat this throat pain of mine. I went back to PT in September and started doing these techniques in October, a year after beginning Curalistic. Curalistic is the perfect place for anyone to start. You can add in other therapies as needed. I personally need pro support and also dry needling to have the best effects. Everyone that does the curalistic program experiences great results. I was determined to get to 100% recovered and felt that my additional therapies played a huge role in that happening.

Wow! I think I saw dr Man dell’s video on that technique but was told that releasing sub occipitals with CCI is risky…. How long with all the work and exercise to see the improvement in your case? I’d be interested in optical / neurological symptoms mainly
@KaylaDuncanLMT
@KaylaDuncanLMT 11 ай бұрын
Holding your head in the right posture is beneficial for almost anyone (save those with positional compression disorders). The suboccipital muscles are delicate muscles. Working on them often causes flare ups. Sensitive people may have a variety of pathologies at play including CCI. It’s not dangerous to release these muscles. It’s just not a good technique for sensitive populations. If suboccipital massage aggravates to u, focus on trapezius massage. The trap points are actually what radiates into and activated the subocccipital trigger points. Treating the traps can treat the suboccipitals without even contacting them. Keeping a good head posture will also help to stop TP’s from forming in the suboccipital muscles. With conscious effort and daily work, you may have lasting results in 4-6 weeks.
