My SI Joint Fusion & SI Joint Belt/Brace

A new brace added to my repertoire- an SI Belt. Even though my SI joints are fused, I don't have the muscle strength yet. The SI Belt will help me in the interim as I try to strengthen the muscles throughout my core, pelvis & legs.

Due to my A.S them 2 joints have fused. It's so painful to sit or stand or lay down for more than 20 to 30 minutes at a time. I'm sorry I don't mean to come off negative. I've simply run out of hope for my situation. I'm so glad that works for you and gives you some relief!

Wow something familiar! I just went in again to get my SI belt out of the closet. I wear it when my SI slips and the nerve issue in feet is unbearable. I’m gonna need mine tonight to sleep which is usually where mine slips out…in bed. I’m not fused in my SI or spine. The SI brace works great and it’s very comfortable. Mine is the same width and doesn’t have the more narrow part in the back. I got it when I broke my pelvis. In this video is your SI Fusion done already? If you’re fused on your SI can you share which procedure they used? After this there shouldn’t be anymore fusions to do eh? Can you say if you are glad you did entire spine? I know the neck with CCI needed done. Would you have gone through that again? If you see the surgeon who fused your vertebrae will you see if he’s aware of the side approach to the placement of what is basically a bundle of fibers the size of rods but allows some ROM without dislocation. They go in between two ribs with a 6-7” incision instead of a full open spine. I’ve seen it done in NYC. Just wondered if your surgeon is familiar with it.

I'm sorry you need your si belt but I'm glad it works great for you. In this video si fusion was already done but I was still healing. I don't know exactly what procedure was used. It was a revision because I was in an accident & my L sij was injured. Another screw was added & BMP. Unfortunately, I've had ongoing trouble. I've had same pain since dog attack in 2020. I was referred to another doctor couple months ago & when the time comes for the revision, the approach will be entirely different. It's an open incision over the front of pelvis, they move the muscles to get to the SIJ, scrape the cartilage away to prep area for fusion, add a part of the pelvic bone & plate, then really slow recovery to let the area heal. Idk the exact name of it. It's not a minimally invasive technique as the success rate for those aren't promising. The technique this surgeon uses is nearly 100%. As for my spine it needed to be fused. It really wasn't a choice. I was dislocating & subluxating so much & neuro symptoms really bad. I don't think I'd be fused all the way down had tethered cord been found sooner but I'll never know for sure. I wouldn't advise someone jump into having their entire spine fused. I'd suggest making sure all conservative measures were tried first. I failed all conservative measures. Despite everything, my spine is doing really well. Neuro symptoms drastically improved. I recently had CT guided SI joint injection & it has made such a positive impact. I've been able to walk & participate in life activities with less pain.

@@MeganKing19 I’m glad you are doing better with spine. Thank you for sharing your journey. I just pray everyday that I don’t require more surgery. Bc of the MCAS getting so much worse after long Covid twice,I really don’t think I would survive any surgery. I also am hoping your revision goes well and you won’t have the need for anymore surgery either, and the recovery for SI goes slow, easy and perfect!💕🦓

Yes, but not normal forward steps. The SI Belt helps somewhat. I can't put weight through L heel so I walk on the front of my foot/tiptoes. I kinda sway to my R leg & put the weight through the front of my R foot. I can do short distances this way.
