My last colourful cruise, a towpath walk, and what is it that I love about living on the canal in the cold winter months? Includes some revealing mindful talk about how my life has changed since living this alternative lifestyle, and how grateful I have become. Beautiful scenes of nature, wildlife and tranquillity along one of Britain's most beautiful canals.
The Journey started here... I once lived in the fast lane of life, happily married of 26 years, with two children. That chapter was suddenly shattered by the sudden loss of my wife to cancer, which led me in to depression and homelessness. Waking up in hospital, after attempting to take my own life, with just a suitcase, kayak and bicycle and no money, I've managed to rise up out of the darkness and find happiness and continue my next chapter.
I'm a self taught film maker, and creating these vlogs, it gives me something to do, share my personal experiences as I continue my journey cruising and living life on the canal. Please do consider supporting my channel below... Thank you Dave

The bliss of that quiet life in such tranquil surroundings with its own take on simplicity is so soothing. Hi Dave, Once again a beautiful vlog. I relate totally to your joy and peace that the canal life brings. Including winter cruising which I loved doing. It’s quiet, peaceful, sometimes going hours without seeing another boat. I am the ‘busy one’ that you spoke about but soon to return to canal life to find peace again in my later years.

Thank you for also this beautiful and inspiring video, Dave 😍 Looking at your videos, I've been wondering about the structure of the English canals. They often seem to situated at high elevations, compared to nearby valleys and houses. And water always moves naturally to the direction of the least resistance. Thanks to the Internet and the Canal & River Trust, my questions were answered by the presentation "Canal and River Structures", including information also about canal lining methods. So, thank you Dave, for inspiring a Finn (with currently "only" -22 oC) to seek for more information about the wonderful British canals 💕
