Thank you for reviewing this KF92 and reassuring me that a man of your experience with many subwoofers approves. I was looking for reviews of the KF92 when I had a chance to buy one a short time ago on special sale and wasn’t sure what to do. There were some positive ones but not enough or comparisons to other subs. I took the plunge based on the KC62 reviews, hoping similar ability but for larger spaces, and I was happy I did. This KF92 feels like it goes very low from what I can tell and is both musical and great for home theatre punch. I had a klipsch R12sw which was decent but this one just is more controlled and powerful and low. My step father has dual vandersteen subwoofers and this one definitely sounds deeper and can rumble for sure as well as his setup, albeit he prefers his not as loud so it’s not cranked up. But I mean KF92 seems capable musically and with home theatre. I wish I could have obtained an svs sb16 to compare, as that seems to be one of the best regarded, but spare change’s review suggested this KF92 can be comparable, so even if not better, if it is close to that as a standard then I think I’ve got the subwoofer I need to complete my klipsch RP series atmos system. Now I just enjoy my system and don’t second guess my sub.

The engineering behind KEF subs have astounded me - not cheap, but in this case you most definitely get what you pay for. Great review / thanks to you Nano and Sean.

My mates parents had a pair of Kef referance 8s with the twi uniQ driver and a pair of dual opposed eight inch bass drivers mounted vertically in the cabinets, they blew me away and set me along the hifi path. 11hz, dam man that is low for such a small and sealed box I have however had the pleasure of borrowing a Sunfire True signiture model that has twin 10s and 2400 watts and that did not go down that far, truly impressed.

I have enjoyed your subwoofer reviews including the KEF KF92. I upgraded my 23 year old Paradigm home theatre system to the KEF R11, R2c and 3 pairs of Ci200R-THX speakers for Atmos and rear surround. I did keep my old Paradigm PS-1000, 250 Watt subwoofer. As I have not compared anything else in house it does sound alright. We use it for movies and music, about 80/20. I was considering replacing the sub with with one KF92. Without auditioning the sub could you make a prediction on how much improvement I would hear and where it provides the biggest change. Thanks for your help, Michael

When I first heard the KF92 I said this sounds great for the size. Then I put movies on like Fury and felt my room rumble from the tanks and was like wow this sounds good period! I demo'd one in my room before but now I'm trying to purchase a pair.

Hi Nemo, love your reviews. Question how would you characterize the sound of the sub, meaning JL Audio subs, bw, and rel ht series are dry and Rel TX is warmer or wet. Where does this fall? Hope question makes sense

Great review as usual. Tnx for that, but now you have made my task even more difficult. I have all system from kef. Kef r700 fronts, kef surrounds, atmos etc.. So I decide go for KF92, but now came out new rel ht/1510 predator.. Same price range, same rms + - . just the size difference I have fairly large open plan living room ( +/-50 m2 ). I'm listening more house music and movies so it would be good if he went down to 20 hz and less What would be your recommendation between these two?

Speaking of high level outputs, I have a 1200W Definitive SuperCube II. It is connected to an AudioLab DAC as a preamp outputting via low level to the sub, and balanced output to Adam active speakers. Do you think it would be a good idea to take a digital output from the DAC to an integrated amp so that I can get high level output to the sub. I have a Sonos gen 3 wireless sub that has 2 opposing woofers like the KEF. It is the only silent woofer I have ever owned. I am guessing the KEFs have a similar property.

Hi, I have a HT room that's 20ft x 14ft x 7ft After seeing this review, I am looking into one of these subs - either 1 KEF KF92 OR dual Rythmik FVX12s (basically around the same cost). My main speakers go pretty low - they have a FR from 20 hz (the speakers have a built-in powered sub), but probably start rolling off around 40 hz, so I would need a sub that does well from 40-45hz down and is solely for HT. Any thoughts on this?

Great Review! How do you think the KF92's would do in a larger room? Like a 17.5 ft W x 22 ft L x 8 ft H room (it has a 9 ft wide opening leading to another room)? Would two KF92's do the trick or go with a larger pair of subs? Usage would be 30% music / 70% movie and gaming.

I am always wondering how to differentiate between bass output vs bass depth?

Different strokes for different folks. I got TWO REL T/5x Subs for $1050 TOTAL,on sale before the price increases. Small-medium room. My system is music priority and the subs just fill out my frequency range incredibly. You would never know they were there…NO window rattling ever needed or wanted…even if I am watching a movie! 😎😂👍🏼 The KEF does look like another masterful piece of engineering, though! COOL STUFF NEMO!

Regarding 100% music system. Irrelevant of room size. When it comes to speed articulation detail etc would you say the KF92 is REALLY the equal of KC62 ? If you give KC62 say 95/100 in those areas what would you give KF92 ?

Nemo, question on placement and if getting 2 of them... With their drivers on the left and right instead of facing into the room as is with traditional subs my concern is I have a console that houses my equipment so these would have one woofer hitting the side room walls and the other into the console 3 feet away on either side. If I turn them facing into the room then one sub is facing the back wall. Can you elaborate on what your experience with placement was compared to "regular" front firing subs in your room? Thx ✊🏽

I saw people saying to buy two even with that room size...but I sit very close to my TV and speakers (5-7 feet). Will 1 of these subs be enough to enjoy that below 20hz subbass? I do 50% movie and 50% music.

Did you ever run into problem of it not turning on at low volumes? If so how did you address it?

If I have kef speakers is it easier to pair them with lets say kc62 or kf92 cause they are the same company or is rythmik f12se also very easy to pair with kef speakers? I know that rythmik is better sub generaly but seamlesly pairing is what I want to know which would be better choice? Cheers

Because the low frequency response of KC62 and KF92 is the same ( 11hz), do you think we can still hear some difference, more extension or more rattling if the room size is the same? What I mean is, because one is using 6.5" drivers and other one is using 9" drivers, can we feel any difference if we play them in the same small room and on the same volume level just because of the driver size? I already own a KC62 and planning to buy KF92 for the living room but it is not so big so I might still get away with KC62 but if driver size creates any difference, I would go for KF92 even though claim low frequency is the same for both. Thanks for the great vids. I have a Naim Uniti Atom and a pair of Tekton Lore Reference speakers. I currently have a Klipsch Cinema 600 sound bar which comes with a 10 inch sub, I think rated to 28hz. Do you think adding the KF92 to the Tektons would be good? Room isn't huge.

Price aside what is your opinion between this sub and a Rythmik 15 or 18 inch

Would you say this is comparable to the SVS sb3000? I know the 3000 is larger, but with the little bit extra power of the kef thought they may be somewhat similar 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hi so a REL T7X is better for pure 2 channel music than this KEF?

I set up my first new system for 25 years and decided on a pair of Kef LS50 meta speakers powered by the new Bluesound Powernode streaming integrated amplifies and wanted the KC62 sub woofer as Darko has said it was amazing. It was during Covid and because of demand it was on a long lead time but was offered the KF92 discounted. I bought it and have not regretted it. I am 100% music at the moment and was very impressed. I set the cross over at 50hz on the Powernode and the base on some tracks is awesome. I am considering upgrading with the new Buchardt 400mk2 and possibly their amplifier. Ive just started to save.

Hey i asked about REL HT/1205 MKII in one of your videos and i told you that i sold SB 1000 pro, i wonder maybe i should get KEF 62? remember my room is 4.3m lenght 2.6m wide and 2.55m high. Mostly i listen music but i am basshead kinda. I would never guess that sub of that size i mean KEF can go so low and have 1000w power DAMN !! i wonder how it would play in my room. Main speakers are KEF q100. (a little bass they have and dont go audibly below 55hz ?)

Did you feel you had to get the volume at high levels to achieve that extension you mentioned? How does it perform for low to moderate level listeners?

The b&w db d series subs is as small and can go as low in Hz as the kef 62 and 92 then.

These are discontinued and on sale in Canada around $2000. My room is large 13x40 8' ceiling. Primary use is 2.1 for music. The listening area is about halfwayI currently have def tech sc4000. Ilistened to a REL t9x and loved it at low - med volume good recordings. But when listening to metal from the 80s and 90s I couldn't get enough output from of it. A rhythmik f12se delivered to the border is about $1800 Canadian. My speakers are kef r3. How would you compare the 3 for music? For waf less than 16" cubed and looks are factors

I bought the SVS SB3000 for mainly small size/weight. I play 70% music/30% movies. Would this be a step up or down? Price is not a consideration.

But, I've got Arendal 1723 Monitor's in mine and have had pretty large towers the likes of Revel F208's crammed in there! I was never any good at physics so I just pretend it doesn't exist 😭

Is the KF92 one of the premiere options for a 50% Movies 50% Music setup? The only issue I have is that I have a very large space (open floor plan great room) even if the audio setup is isolated to about 1/3rd of it. The sub needs to be relatively compact for WAF reasons, so no bigger than 12" I think in terms of footprint. Dual subs should be possible down the line. For reference, the living room area is about 15'x19' with 10' ceilings and the left side opens up to the dining room and kitchen and extends another 30' or so.

KEF really needs to send you a cube 10 or 12 demo unit so you can give us your honest thoughts on them. If you go by user reviews they are fantastic but you never see or hear about them.

Excellent review!! I am debating between KC62 and this. My room is about 25sq meters, and I listen to music around your volumes: 75-80dB, and very rare 85-90db. I don’t need window shaking bass, but I do want to hear those low notes when listening to music or movies at those volume levels. Would a KC62 be enough or should I go for the KF92? I would go for the 92, but I start to believe it’s overkill for my current room and listening levels..

Hoo-boy...got me torn between this KF92 and the Rhythmik G22 to replace an older Outlaw LFM-1 Compact 10" ported, downfiring sub. I use my system roughly 60/40 leaned towards film, and the G22 miiiight be overkill in my space, but having such "precise" capability and lower extension, even at a reduced volume (and for less $$$) seems like fun and makes it something that could be with me for the long haul, as I don't tend to collect or swap often, if I like something.

Comparing to a Rel T7x isn't a fair fight. Price and sizewise, comparison would be more relevant against REL T9x. I'd love to see a review of the Dynaudio 18S / Sub6 against this too.

What is 'reference level'?

For home theater application: 2 subs? For home hifi: 1 sub or 2?

In the past I would have laughed at someone for having a Heavy thing problem but once you have to carry those things up a tight curved stairs by yourself or even with two people you will want to throw that sh** away hahaha. 45 minutes of struggle, smashing your finger, getting bruised, almost having it slip on your toe or on your whole body will make you never want to have anything heavier than you are capable carrying alone Sounds like a great Sub. To bad that it's out of my price range but I'll keep it noted for the future.

For $2k I would have hoped they offered it in white, to match other models of their speakers...not.
