Great tips Craig, glad its working better they are awesome controllers

Cheers Stu. Lovely pads, the one is definitely better than the other but they've both been cleaned up the same now.

Awesome work mate. Yeah I think you are right. Giving them the proper soak will improve it massively.
@GoodwinsPlace3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I just wasn't happy with the first one after, it worked great straight after but think it just got gradually worse over the following days. This makes a lot more sense to clear out any corrosion and then clean it off. This pad isn't as clicky as the first one, but works great, nice to have the two pads for the system.

Great job Craig 👍🏻👍🏻 I’ve got some old controllers to look at......I might brave it soon....you are inspiring me 😂
@GoodwinsPlace3 жыл бұрын
Do it. Most retro consoles the controllers are simple. They get a lot more complex with the newer consoles

Awesome! I just bought a neo geo cd pad with an unresponsive d pad I’m definitely going to do this.
@GoodwinsPlace3 жыл бұрын
They aren't cheap are they. Worth doing this before some of the more extreme measures of taking the switches apart. Mine are still running great. Also take a look at my Evercade video I've recently uploaded, I build a basic Neo Geo pad in it too.

Glad your getting the neo geo restored. Have you got any advice on what soldering iron I should get for the Gsmrboy mod when I do it?
@GoodwinsPlace3 жыл бұрын
If it is just the speaker on that Game Boy mod then just a cheap soldering iron off ebay for under £10 will do it. This little kit has a few bits for it at a decent price: amzn.to/2LM8ahl I use one of these, but these are still mid range systems, I'll probably upgrade in the future: amzn.to/3qjerQK

I want a controller with a clicky 8-way microswitch stick in it so bad. I know it wouldn't work for modern analog games but I don't play anything modern!
@GoodwinsPlace Жыл бұрын
Still out there for both modern and retro systems. Have a search for Fighting Sticks as there are a few producers and even a site where you can make custom setups.
@PuffyRainbowCloud3 жыл бұрын
You don't need to soak away the contact cleaner. It's designed to stay in contacts to prevent corrosion.
@AE-bm4no2 жыл бұрын
So basically you can't repair a neo geo CD pad to original form?
@GoodwinsPlace2 жыл бұрын
I can't or anyone can't? Not a full refurb no. I don't think you can get the micro switches so it would need to be a clean up like I did here, which is still working great. Or replacement switches if you can find them.
@AE-bm4no2 жыл бұрын
@@GoodwinsPlace i understand you can clean the plastic dust out of the switches but how would you repair the joystick that keeps grinding and producing the plastic dust? i'm just trying to figure out if i could buy one and restore it to its original form
@GoodwinsPlace2 жыл бұрын
@@AE-bm4no I think what's being cleaned out is more dirt than plastic. I don't think you'll find parts for fully restoring an original anywhere, if you want a good reliable pad you could go for the pad that comes with the Mini and convert it, but that wouldn't be original and they are built differently so parts aren't interchangeable.
