I think James just accidentally gave a profound Biblical grade parable on how to simplify and navigate the daily complexities of life in general. Especially the part about shortening the time between seeing the target and pulling the trigger. Fascinating.

I love the Brad Faxton comment about his eyes and starting his putt…I’m going to practice this & try to incorporate in my putting routine! 👍⛳️

I’ve always been a pretty good putter since starting golf and I think that’s cause I’m generally quite athletic. If you put a stone in my hand and say throw it at that trash can I know I’ll get it close.. think that transfers well to speed control. I do use the line and am religious about it. Used to hate it. Some days my alignment feels off when I stand over the ball, so if I know I’ve put the line on my intended start line then i don’t need to worry about alignment, just roll the ball down the line. I don’t think the line works if you second guess your read when you stand over the ball, you just have to commit to it. That’s the key for me anyway. I will often stand over the putt in address position as part of my reading the green routine though and take that into factor, sometimes I’ll do what tiger does and walk halfway to the hole and stand over the line in address position to read the last half of the putt also. I used to hate the line but now feel like it’s a bit of a cheat code, especially on short putts. That’s my two cents anyway

I concentrate on NO wrist movement during the stroke. I like your concept of putting, very good, I've been golfing for 64 years and NO head movement is the best TIP.

The old “coin drill”is a good one. Ball on penny, putt, stay focused on coin. Experts in any sport usually do the basic stuff perfectly, time after time. Great video as usual.

I love feeling the ground as well. I wouldn’t say I’m a good putter but one thing I do feel I have been getting good at are my lag putts. Feeling the ground is such a big thing for me.

Great video, I really like lowering the time down, less time to let some bad thought creep in! I've never had a putting lesson but this seems great advice

Another great video, I've never thought of using my shadow for head movement when putting. I have to practice my alignment a ton, I always feel like I'm off line when I set up.. mind playing tricks on me I think at this point hahaha. Thanks for these videos!

Really like everything you said here. It’s reassuring to know that these concepts that I kinda fell into on my own are good practices. I like to give a quick look at the hole and back to the ball, then a nice solid 4 or 5 second look (just a guess not an exact time) and then pull the trigger pretty quick. When I first started golf a few years ago I was line obsessed, but now that I’ve had more experience and improved a whole lot, I just use the line as a reference point for what I feel over the ball. I’ll work off that initial read and adjust from there. I love the concept of being athletic and instinctual. Your brain is a very complex, fine tuned machine and I feel that if you just trust it to do what it does best, you’ll succeed. Not only that but by working off instinct, you’ll always be adding to that information pool the more experience you get and solidify those instincts.

Years ago I had a putting coach that helped me get my eyes on the line, as I remember because I’m right eye dominant, he had me stay a little further than usual so that I can see where my putter is aiming. That really helped me at that time. However, I started losing that feel and right now I’m trying to find an eye position that can make me see where my putter head’s aiming. My strokes gain on putting, since I lost track of my eyeline position has gone much worse 😢

Have a routine & practice it! Don’t just putt several balls in a roll without going through your complete routine…every time. ⛳️
