Nicholas finally gets back out into the Chilcotin backcountry and starts work on a new bushcraft camp, "Camp Deadhorse".
After some time away from KZfaq, I'm finally back out filming, and I decided to start off with a long awaited new series, "Building Camp Deadhorse" - my first bushcraft camp series in over 3 years. In this entry, I do various projects including building a buck-saw from spruce boughs, putting together a large log storage, felling trees and collecting materials, setting up a stump anvil, crafting a handy mallet, and more, all in preparation for building the camp and the soon to come cold weather.
Why camp "Deadhorse"?
The camp is named "Deadhorse" due to a nearby and unfortunately passed away feral horse. The cause of death is unknown, but as far as I could tell it was natural cause.
Enjoy the new video, and keep an eye out for more in the future! Some new and exciting camping videos are currently being edited, and I have many more ideas to get out and film in the mean-time, including the next entry in this new series.
Thanks for watching!

KZfaq algorithm is very weird, and will sometimes even control when people get notified for videos. A good way to see when I post is to follow my Instagram, @wituikbws, as I make multiple posts on there when a new video goes live! Thanks for watching, and glad to see you too!! Don't miss the other videos I posted - there are 3 new ones after this one

A real bummer losing all that data it hurts it happened to me years ago . Then I signed up for Idrive and have never had that problem since but one of my buddies did have a problem but he al ready had I drive back up . He said it took his wife about 20 minutes and she had retrieved everything. Stay safe out there happy trails and yes we will be looking for your new video's.

Good to see you again Nicholas! I'm looking forward to the new vids and this series for sure. I hope your bad luck streak has ended and everyone is well. It looks like your time off wasn't entirely quiet, the tool handles look new or refinished at least, and I see new wraps on the rifle too. The saw blade looks fresh, and is that a new knife? You must be gearing up for some big things! Can't wait.
@wituikbws

Good to see you too! The bad luck thankfully has, but all things considered, it turned out to be a good thing I took some time away from KZfaq. The absence lead to tons of opportunities to do all kinds of new things in place of my usual editing/filming time. Ranch work and mountain pack-trips, new hunting experiences, lots of leather work, tool crafting and making of new gear, and more - all of which will make the videos better due to the expanded skill set, as well as open up new opportunities for filming that I never had, like camping off my horses for example. Most of the stuff I do behind the scenes on KZfaq is documented on my Instagram, @wituikbws, if you're interested in checking it out. I appreciate you sticking around while I was gone and for the continued support! 👊👊

I did have some more coming out, but the very night before I was going out to get some filming done, my main harddrive on my editing computer died, and with it I lost years and years of work. It's taken me months to get back to where I was at, but now that I am, you'll be happy to know there are so far three videos lined up to be posted, and many more being filmed and edited! Thanks for the comment, and I'm happy to see you're still watching after my time away. I appreciate it! 🤠

@wituikbws
@wituikbws 2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad you think so! I don’t make videos on specific subjects like that since I’m not an educational channel, but in the next entry releasing tomorrow, I show the knots/lashings I used step by step. My most common are Canadian jam knots, square lashings, taut line hitches, and clove hitches. I recommend Far North Bushcraft & Survival and Coalcracker Bushcraft if you’d like to learn them. Thanks for watching!

So Nicholas, what will the raised storage store ??? Or is the goal the building it's self ?? I love how sharp u keep ur cutting tools honed !!! I've seen u use a saw many times but not a Silky or of that nature. But rather it doesn't fit your persona would that be a fair statement ??? Just packing a blade is my idea of Ultra Lite !! As a backpacker UL is ,, to a point,, really important now that I am in my sixties 😅😃 Glad to c u r back !!! Hope all is well with your world 🌍👍🏽☺️ Looking forward to some craft AND, I hope some DETAILED camera work of knots u use !! I can't speak for the rest of the KZfaq universe but for myself I would find that interesting. That's a weak spot for me is not just remembering which ones to use when let alone how to so anyway just throwing that out there 😁 Peace and keep on rocking the free world ☺️
@wituikbws
@wituikbws 2 жыл бұрын
It's made to keep the logs I collected off the ground and dry. It's pretty pointless to build for a camp like this - much better suited for long-term storage around a cabin etc, but I figured it was interesting and easy enough to show. I have a Silky saw as well, but I find bow saws much more efficient to use, likely due to my technique being better with them over the years. Next video I'll get some more detailed shots of the knots! You didn't miss much with them in this video however. All I used was the standard Canadian jam knot, nothing special. Thanks for the comment!!
