I don't mind applying tyre dressing regularly to my own car, but for other family members who I swap tyres for every every winter and spring a longer lasting dressing is a welcome addition. Not sure what it says about me that this seems like the most "exciting" of the new Carpro products for the year though ...

Hey Sandro, I have already decided to use Blackout for next set of summer/winter tires (yes, we have two sets here in Sweden🙂) to have this great look, hydrofobity and no need to re-apply after every wash. And now I know if I'll run out of Pearl before I will replace my tires I will go for DarkSide. Cool to see green nature colours on the background when we have winter))) Merry Christmas and cheers from Sweden.

Great comparison, Darkside looks indeed a bit more durable than Perl, which is my go-to dressing for the summer months. For my own vehicle I don't care because I always clean my tyres and re apply Perl. Darkside could be a more interesting option for the colder winter months when the car isn't washed that often. How does it go on the "slippery" scale? Would you be confident enough to put it on motorcycle tyres?

I washed my tires, 5 years old, never cleaned before. I used foam canon with Carpro Descale, and iron remover. Unfortunately, it dried up. A white haze appeared on rubber that was very difficult to remove. After 30 minutes I only removed about 80% of it. It does not come off with Descale, Lift, IPA, Trix or car shampoo. 1. Why did it appear? 2. What’s the best way to remove it except Carpro Retyre? On another note, how to remove old Turtle FlexWax from intricate rims? Descale and Lift did not kill it.

Personally i been using Gyeon Tyre Express for tyre dressing on my work van and after last week of washing and about 500km driving, it still have the satin shine to it but more so I really like the hydrophobic effect which it 'self-clean' itself quite well but the DarkSide really shines to me is the uniformity and the darkness of the tire are and I'm really looking forward to have one after it!

Hey Sandro. I gave this a go last weekend but was a little disappointed as it only lasted a few days. Was wondering if you could suggest something in my prep to get the promised months of longevity. My tyres had some left over Bowdens sweet rubber which I’ve found lasts about 2 weeks and was well on the way out. I scrubbed the tyres with Mirch grime off diluted about 1:3, washed and dried the rest of the car and allowed the tyres to dry. Then I used a panel wipe on the tyres before using 3 pumps onto a fresh applicator for each tyre. Working it in as smoothly as I could. About half an hour later I gave it a level down with a Microfibre. I put the car in the garage for the night and the first morning after I took it for a drive and afterwards gave it another level down wipe as there was some greasy finish and some runs coming out of where the continental lettering is (have heard certain tyres make a difference, mine are premiumcontact 6). All fine from here but yesterday on the public holiday we went for a nice drive to Daylesford and I gave the car a wash with a ph neutral snow foam and three bucket wash, giving the tyres only a light once over with the wheel brush and no other cleaners. When the car was dry it was quite obvious it had app worn off. This was only 4 days after washing the car and applying darkside. So from here I’m keen to give it another go but I wonder where I’ve gone wrong. Should I try scrubbing the tyres with grime off neat or even multiX neat to get anything left on the tyre off? Does this product require a second application in some cases? Does it need a longer cure time of a week or more before any washing? Keen to hear your opinion. Cheers.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
I can’t be sure why it didn’t last, but I would tend to try and strip back the tyre perhaps a little more aggressively - Carpro ReTyre (undiluted) or Shine Supply Wise is what I tend to use. I unfortunately haven’t used Mirch so I can’t speak to it. Application wise I think you’re fine there - I just make sure to work it in for a good minimum or two on each tyre and let it sit for an hour before doing a gentle wipe back, and if you have time you can repeat the process for a second coat. Hope it works out better second time around.

Hey Sandro I hope all is well for you over there across the pond. I know this video is over a month old but I'm still hoping you see this comment. I was wondering what you personally use on rubber door seal trim? I have used perl but just get lazy applying it constantly every other wash or so. Maybe DarkSide or Blackout would be more suited for this sort of application, or maybe something else?. What would you recommend? Thanks for all you do and God Bless.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate and hope all well with you. Perl and a few other water based dressing is typically what I use but I agree they are short lived particularly on daily drivers. It’s been almost 3mths since I first used DarkSide on my tyres and it seems like 2mths is very doable durability wise and I’ve test to see it (being solvent based) cause any browning or drying up on the rubber - so it could be a better long term rubber sealant but I think more time with it is needed to be sure.

I’ll usually do a touchless wash (meaning I’ll spray just my wheel cleaner on, let it dwell and rinse it off) one wash, followed by a physical clean the next wash just using a lighter tyre cleaner or dilution - Carpro Multi-X 1:5 for example - and just quickly run a brush over the tyre wall.

Awesome review Sandro can't wait to try it, I recently bought Australia's ugliest van🤣 its almost new and have noticed the tyres had so much browning I cleaned them with 4 lots of wise guy when first got it and then last week with retyre and has seemed to gotten rid of it all, I noticed on a new kia Sportage I coated a 3 weeks back the same heavy browning and they are both the same brand tyres, thought maybe its because of the dealer tyre shine they used but seen the kia today and the browning is starting back already, in your experience is there a reason tyres can brown so much or some tyres just do? Thanks again for all the great content
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, and ugliness is in the eye of the beholder lol. I’ve certainly seen some solvent based dressings lead to browning over time and also noticed that some tyres are more prone to it - dressed or not - some even being relatively new. With a lot of new cars having huge delay times, sitting around and waiting for chips, it’s hard to know how old some of these parts including the tyres actually are. I know it’s frustrating but I don’t think you should be responsible for tyres browning after 3 weeks, that seems to me to be an issue of the tyre or something that happened beyond your control.

Hey there Sandro, had a question for you. I've got a friend with a 2007 BMW 328i, unfortunately he had a leak, and several gallons of water saturated the whole carpet which is of course molded with foam and can be as thick as three to five inches in some areas. We've already removed the carpet from the car. And allowed it to dry out. The whole thing is Thoroughly saturated in mold and mildew. I'm definitely not looking to restore the carpet to brand new, but you have any advice on how to at least improve it's condition? I want to at least get it mostly clean, and ensure that if I have to use water or other liquids in the cleaning process that they won't form more mold and mildew as the foam dries. Given that we're on a budget replacing the carpet is not an option. Thank you ahead of time, I appreciate any advice.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing Жыл бұрын
I’ve tackled similar carpet in some old cars I’ve restored and it’s actually come up extremely well. Once the carpet is out of the car just pressure blast all the mould off - it should come away quite easily. Then just use an APC/carpet upholstery cleaned and scrub all the carpet section by section very well with a slightly stiff brush. Then spend a good amount of time pressure rinsing it down and hang it to dry. Cleaning carpet outside of the vehicle is much easier than cleaning it in the vehicle and a pressure washer is your best friend here.

I think the worst that will happen is the brush bristles may degrade quicker - possibly start to clump, soften or stiffen or become hydrophobic - but that may not happen - it’s just something you’d have to see. Perhaps cleaning the brush immediately after use with warm water and detergent/APC may help prevent that - rather than letting the tyre dressing just sit on the bristles for a long period.

It only occurred AFTER application, therefore it has everything to do with the dressing! All other dressings don't cause this yellowing on my tyres. This has also been reported on other detailing forums, globally. It was removed with several applications of tyre cleaner and a stiff brush.

@@ntartaris still sounds like blooming, but go ahead and keep thinking it's the dressing.

Rob from Gtechniq has changed the formula in their tyre gel because of MPS4S, there’s definitely something different in their compound.
