The limousine is a series 75. Hearses and ambulances are series 86. Sideloading pro-cars with suicide doors only open from the inside. Exterior door handles are decorative only, they do not work. A side-loading hearse would not be used as a ambulance. A 1960 S&S limousine-style sideloader is a very rare pro-car. I've never seen one before. Very nice!

I watched a 65 Cadillac side loader in action, very interesting and much easier to get the casket inside the hearse, I watched one guy roll out the casket and open the side door and the platform came out and slid it onto the platform and electrically it came back in. Years later I was a pallbearer at a funeral that had a rear loader and that was not easy at all

You know Bob I think I would take the time to make some molds and convert the back end, because you're not the only one making echoes, and Not only would you be able to get that car looking more correct, but you could sell new fiberglass reproduction quarters heck you could even mold the rear bumper, to other people building ectoes or you could use them on your Ecto projects of the future, I think it would be worth your time. You realize only the passenger side is suicided on afterlife but that's a cool car for sure! Definitely hope to follow this project!👻

You should make fiberglass molds of the whole car and not just the break light trim, so everyone can have an ecto 1. Some of the new spray chrome looks good on fiberglass as far as bumpers. Last year at SEMA talked with a builder that was 3d printing trim and could not tell. Side and back glass could be polycarbonate, might be some better options now days. Could have a mold made for the front glass. 2x6 rect tube frame rails, ford 9”, mustang 2 front with an LS or a thousand other suspension options.

The company that made the leveling system is named Superior. They used them well into the 1970's. Early versions like yours were an engineering nightmare. There should be a button somewhere under the dash that turns the leveling pump on. It's usually tucked up under the dash near the leveling control. The button was prone to failure and many were replaced with a switch which could be hidden anywhere. The leveling control itself often failed too. Newer ones were improved. The hydraulic system uses 20W oil if my memory serves me. I will be surprised if you can get it working again. It was over complicated for what it did and often leaked oil or jammed or quit working all together. You can probably make something yourself that works much better and is less complicated or take one out of a newer hearse and use it instead. Those air conditioning units were awesome. Wear warm underwear if you're sitting in front of the vents.

I watched a feller take the chassis and firewall of a 65 Galaxie and turn it into a period correct race car. So yeah. Your Miller Meteor is a perfect car for what you are doing with it. I am guessing your PTO on your Rusto 1 will be mid chassis working off a gear reduction unit behind the transmission. It will have its own drive shaft from the engine through the Trans. . You might see access to it under the casket platform through the access panel. That part is purely a guess. Even so I would search mid chassis for that piece of the puzzle

Leave the factory Carter carburetor on it just rebuild it , it's perfect for that 390 ,new afb's suck man don't put an Edelbrock on it.EDIT ugh, someone already put an edelbrock on it, the trans will never shift right without that proper carter carb on it..unless you rig up the linkage on the edelbrock.
