It has been just over two weeks since our new greenhouse was delivered and set up, and we have been busy finishing the inside to get it ready for the winter growing season. Add electricity and propane gas to provide venting, heating, and cooling as needed. Added a 2'x6' raised bed to grow vegetables in. The raised bed is 18" high, so the first 10" is filled with topsoil and the top 8" is filled with a soilless mix of compost, peat moss, and vermiculite. Installed wire shelves to hold the seed trays, and provided a storage space below them to hold potting soil, trays, etc., so they will be available when needed. The greenhouse is wired with 60 amp electrical service, and has a propane gas line installed for the heater. Installed a Mr. Heater 20,000 BTU blue flame heater which is thermostatically controlled. Added three black tanks filled with water to serve as heatsinks -- the sun will heat them during the day, and they will radiate heat during the night.
Looking forward to experimenting and learning how to winter garden in the greenhouse. I have gardened for many years, but this is a new adventure for me.
