- Explaining the Kingdom Hearts Timeline project -
As many of you already know, the Kingdom Hearts Timeline project started back in April 2018 as a way to prepare all of us for the release of Kingdom Hearts 3. What is the Timeline project? Basically, you'll see all of the story events as they chronologically happen. Which is seemingly easy to do, but...if you're familiar with Kingdom Hearts, then you do know the series is so full of flashbacks, callbacks and retcons, that it's extremely easy to lose track of them.
I always like to think of the Timeline as an experiment. I wasn’t sure if it could be a welcome one but, somehow, it was so well received that it exceeded my expectations.
The original Timeline was just a way to re-live all of the Kingdom Hearts titles leading to KH3, in a different, yet familiar way. I never had plans to go back to it, as I was fully aware of all the flashbacks and callbacks that could be added in the future titles. I don’t really like the idea of uploading new, fixed episodes every now and then-it would just confuse all of you (and, more than anyone, myself!)
Still, the requests and messages I received in the past few years made me reconsider my plans. More than anything, I did plan to complete the KHUX saga, as it was the only incomplete title when KH3 came out.
So here we are! Now that KHUX ended I have everything at my disposal for making the ultimate, complete chronological version of this title.
I can’t stress enough the purpose of this project-this doesn’t want to be the best or the perfect way of experiencing the Kingdom Hearts saga.
All of the titles should be played following their release dates. The Timeline is simply an alternate way of experiencing the story we already know and only players who already played the games should watch it. New players would be spoiled about some plot points, so be warned.
This project gives you a different perspective on specific events, and the adding of new musics, flashbacks, callbacks and secret reports, makes the whole experience even more unique and immersive.

I’ll leave some basic Q&A down here related to the future of the Timeline:
1)
Q: Will you be uploading all of the episodes from the scratch?
A: No. I’ll just reupload the episodes containing flashbacks/callbacks that we got to see after the release of KH3. For instance, the beginning of Birth by Sleep will be reuploaded since I’ll have to add the dialogue between Master Xehanort and Vanitas at the Land of Departure, occurring in Dark Road.

Q: Will the old episodes be deleted?
A: No. All of the episodes will stay, but the new ones will have the text “NEW” in the thumbnail and in the video title. The new episodes will replace the old ones in the Timeline playlist in my channel.
3)
Q: Will you be making KH3 as well?
A: Yes, but my main goal was completing both KHUX and Dark Road. I do have some plans for KH3 but I’m considering of using the PC version of it, so I can disable the music through mods and do some…special stuff. If you are a KH3 modder/you know someone who could help me, please message me on Twitter!

Q: So all of the 123 episodes list will be messed up?
A: No. KHUX will still finish on Episode 11 like I planned years ago. Dark Road will start on Episode 12. Only the beginning of Birth by Sleep might have a small change of numbers in the playlist.
5)
Q: Why did you put Missing-Link in the intro alongside the other titles?
A: Because...never say never. There's no way I can put the whole story of Missing-Link in the Timeline, not in the near future. That game's story might last some years, like it happened with KHUX. However, I did want to include it in the panels titles screen, so we finally have a complete timeline screen, for once.

This part of the series has cemented Ven as among the most tragic characters in the series as him being turned into an accomplice to Strelitzia’s murder and also currently being among the last remaining Keyblade wielders from the Age of Fairy Tales

I wonder if darkness gave Malicifent some power to be able to defeat Lauriam. Because Lauriam was a powerful keyblade wielder and was chosen as a union leader for that reason. It’s also the reason why Marluxia was one of the strongest nobodies in the original organization despite he forgot his past as Lauriam. It’s interesting to think about. Also you have to feel bad for Ventus the dude had no friends and he finally found some friends he wanted only to find out that happened because darkness controlled him and force him to kill Sterlitza talk about rotten luck. Their going to be a time he remembers his past in Union X and when that happens I hope Aqua and Terra will be there for him to get through that dark time in his life

@@jalenjohnson0339 Honestly, poor Ven has so much trauma, and it's made so much worse by the fact that he's so young at this point. He's not even a teenager yet here--he's, like, 11 or even 10. To have gone through the build-up to the Keyblade War, fighting Heartless all on his own and watching the growing tension, then become a Union leader and have to carry those memories with him--then to have the rug yanked out from under him and realizing that he was responsible for the death of his friend's younger sister? And THEN being sent to the future, losing all his memories, and going through all of the events of Birth By Sleep, which would be traumatic enough on its own. I really want Ven to remember everything, but it's going to be so hard on him when he does--like you said, hopefully his friends will be able to help him cope.

@@silvyx Thats true I forgot he was like 11 years old here in fact all of them are just young kids when you think about it.But yeah Ven went through so much and don’t forget that after he went to the future Xehanort found him and trained him harshly for four years before Xehanort decided to bring him to Eraqus before BBS started. Yeah let’s hope that his friends will help him cope from all of the trauma that he has been through. Also if Skuld is subject x then ironically in birth by sleep she and Ven were in radiant garden at the same time during bbs.

actually Xehanort trained him for a year, he spent 4 years with Eraqus, but poor Ven he is better off not remembering what happened.

I'm looking forward to see what they do with Ventus and Lauriam in the Lost Master Arc. Imagine if we see Lauriam and Elrena interacting with the Wayfinder trio and Kairi.

Ack using the Unversed theme for the Darkling fight, I can't!! It's such a good hint to the fact that (SPOILERS) the Darklings are looking for Ven, especially since the Unversed come from Vanitas--who was born from the Darkness which is currently possessing Ven.

I’m not sure when the Game Central Station arc was written in relation to Kingdom Hearts 3, but both integrated the Disney world with the overarching story very well. I hope we see more of this in Kingdom Hearts 4!

Well, it's an easy process of elimination based on what we know about the development of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Union Cross mixed with some good old fashioned speculation. The former spent a good chunk of it's development on the Luminous Engine, and had to basically restart from scratch after switching to Unreal 4; For context, Unreal 4 was still new to developers in 2015, the same year Union Cross's lifecycle started. Based on this, we can easily assume that Kingdom Hearts 3 didn't transition development to Unreal 4, which also likely restarted the project as the Luminous Engine is extremely finicky, and the fact that Osaka Team, the people behind Kingdom Hearts 3, probably didn't have even an ounce of experience with Unreal Engine 4 as they previously worked on much smaller scale titles within Square Enix. This means that they probably started thinking of the Link system and other stuff around early 2018, when it was already known that Wreck-It-Ralph had a sequel in the works, so Square Enix higher-ups likely thought it'd be best to split up the Wreck-It-Ralph content for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Union Cross, so this resulted in Ralph being relegated to a Link in Kingdom Hearts 3 while Union Cross got the full Wreck-It-Ralph world treatment complete with a full story and integration into the overarching plot of Union Cross.

I'm not sure it was Ventus being possessed by Darkness. IIRC Master Ava came out from behind him, and she was the one who was possessed by darkness? Furthermore, the darkness shadow guiding Maleficent looked suspiciously like a hooded figure, so might have been Master Ava too? In addition, at the very beginning the Master of Masters stated that the entire plan was for the foretellers to become vessels for 5 of the 13 darknesses so that the Master of Masters could destroy them.

@@readingchameleon None of the Foretellers can be controlled by the Darknesses. They were trained specifically to be the their vessels, but keep control of themselves without darkness taking it. She didn't do any of this... Specially since she was fighting Luxu at the time.

Man, I forgot that Maleficent absolutely wrecked Lauriam. We need more reminders of how powerful she can be. Also I'll never get over the fact that we get a King Candy Cybug boss fight and it's in the freaking mobile game. Imagine how cool it would've looked in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Darkness was probably helping her, cause the fight happened off screen and Lauriam woke up wondering what happened. That hints that Darkness struck him from behind.

@@underscore55 Well here Ventus was like 11 years old here and during the finale of Union X Ventus had sealed one of the darkness (which is one of the dark beings that was talking to Maleficent) inside himself. It was after that he along with Lauriam, Skuld and Elerena traveled to the future using those pods Maleficent went in. After Ventus went to the future that’s when Xehanort found him and you the rest aka bbs and so on

We only know of four officially at this point. Kairi, Anna, Elsa, and Rapunzel. So there are three still out there. I personally think Tiana might be one of them, too. Heck, if SW is in KH4, that will likely confirm Leia as one. The internet will explode if THAT one happens...

And so, Lauriam had a dream about Strelitzia. Yet, he is still wounded during battle against Maleficent. And who is that mysterious character in white coat? Is it really Strelitzia? Or is just a dream for Lauriam?

I suspect it's intentionally made to confuse the player on which parts are the dream and which ones were real.

@@johnsantos507. Yeah, I got that bit, but I do genuinely think that the cutscene is intentionally made to confuse the player on which parts are real and which parts are the dream. It's a very common storytelling device to blur the line between dreams and reality as it keeps the reader, or player in this case, on their toes trying to figure out what is going on.

it was explained a few episodes ago. this maleficent was from the time after her defeat in 1 when Ansem-Riku used the keyblade to unlock her heart and she remembered what Xehanort said to her about time travel. she wanted to overwrite her defeat by traveling back to the past when a version of herself existed. but enchanted dominion was one of the worlds that was not in the book of prophecies and only a data version of the world existed. anyway she used the lifeboat to return to her own time, which was during the time of 2.

Maleficent was seen by the Master. He incorporated her into his truce with Darkness to be the person who triggers the Data World Lock down by taking an Ark pod. Darkness is using her as a Waypoint. The Master is using her to put Data Daybreak Town to Sleep/Statis.

Well, we already know that the Organization XIII style cloaks are specifically designed with darkness protection in mind, so it's possible that white coats in a similar style may be designed with protection from light in mind.
