This is probably the most curious episode out of all of Dark Road story, as it depicts events connecting all of Xehanort's life, moments that we never saw in a proper order. It mixes scenes from both Dark Road and Birth by Sleep, giving us a glimpse of the future heroes of the saga and how the friendship between Xehanort and Eraqus fell apart. Watching this after their relationship in Dark Road is much more painful, after all their promises to respectively watch their backs. Eraqus changed a lot, but he always tried to overlook Xehanort's actions in the past, leading to nothing. As for the KH3 flashbacks of the chess scenes where Eraqus wins, this is how I envisioned them. Those scenes and dialogues in KH3 are just a "poetic way" to announce Sora's victory, thanks to the light of the past. I like to think that they didn't really happen during Dark Road, but they're just a medium for giving us a preview of the future events (Ephemer helping Sora and the Lost Master arc). Some of the next episodes related to Birth by Sleep will be re-uploaded, as they need to catch up with the episodes numbering order. The more I watch the video and the different cutscenes in chronological order, especially with _Dark Road's_ release I feel pity and sadness to Xehanort and how Luxu and the Master of Masters began to use him for their own ends while at the same time fracturing his friendship with Eraqus. Now I can understand why Xehanort is Nomura's favorite Kingdom Hearts character, considering how complex he is as both a character and a villain. Easily my favorite moment was when Master Xehanort meets with the Magic Mirror again in the Dwarf Woodlands and asks the Spirit of the Magic Mirror on the whereabouts of his fallen friends and also Ventus, even if he does not remember their names despite seeing their faces resulting in the Mirror leading him to the Keyblade Graveyard. So just like Yen Sid, Merlin, Hades from Olympus Coliseum, and the Cheshire Cat from Wonderland, the Magic Mirror is also another character to know about the existence of other worlds outside his own. Speaking of Wonderland, when Young Xehanort returned to the Queen of Hearts Trial, I wonder how he was able to escape without having his head cut off by the Queen?!?!? Looking forward to some of the updates for BBS in the KH Timeline and the inclusion of Young Kairi's flashbacks from _Melody of Memory_ into the mix.

I doubt you'll read this Everglow but just know that these TIMELINE videos do the KH series true justice. Just aligning things in chronological order makes the series make so much more sense. Thanks you and your team for all the effort you do.

After all of their friends have died, Eraqus and Xehanort grew even further apart and even became enemies. Having learned about the Keyblade War after what the possessed Baldr had said, Xehanort intends to bring forth Kingdom Hearts. However, as he grows old, Xehanort fears that he may not be able to witness the rebirth of the universe. So he decides to find a Keyblade wielder to use as a younger vessel to possess and witness his Keyblade War. Thus, Xehanort finds Ventus, having been thrown into the future and lost contact with his friends, Xehanort hopes that now that Ventus allowed the formless Darkness to rest in his heart, he could have Ventus create the X-Blade, the counterpart of Kingdom Hearts. When that plan fails, Xehanort is then left with little choice but to extract the darkness from Ventus’s heart by force and creates a being of pure darkness named Vanitas. With his heart severely fractured, Ventus lays dying and Xehanort takes him to the Destiny Islands where Xehanort himself once lived to let Ventus die. However, as luck would have it, Ventus was brought to the Island as a new kid named Sora is born, and he decides to share his heart with Ventus’s heart, repairing the damage. With this, Xehanort then decides to take Ventus, who is completely blank faced with no memories after his heart was fractured, to his old friend Eraqus, who is now a Keyblade Master training two new wielders, Aqua and Terra.

One of my favorite pieces of this is Eraqus being disappointed in Xehanort, claiming he was supposed to be heir to their legacy and resolve....and the tragic thing is he absolutely is. The Lost Masters created a war in order to save the world, they tried to summon kingdom hearts, they became vessel for darkness, and so on. Xehanort did everything the lost masters did, he followed in their footsteps to a T. Eraqus pictures the lost masters as some good guy saviors but truly they were deeply flawed people who all came to the same relationzations and extremes that Xehanort did.

This is definitely one of my favourite episodes in the Timeline. Much like the gap between BBS and KH1 from the original, it's really cool seeing so many scenes from separate games placed in this order. It's a really good transition from Dark Road to Birth by Sleep, but now, after re-experiencing Dark Road, these scenes have a lot more weight behind them. They're more emotional and saddening seeing Xehanort walking further down this road and his wavering friendship with Eraqus. As always, great implementation of certain songs, like Dual Hearts or Graveyard Labyrinth. The editing of the back-and-forth between the two scenes when Ventus arrives at the Land of Departure was well-paced (*especially* when Ven says his name). And I was hoping you'd change the thumbnail to older Xehanort and Eraqus! Very excited to see what else you have in store now that Dark Road's over.

It really is kinda sad going back to Birth By Sleep with full context of Ven, Eraqus, and Xehanort’s past, especially with BBS being one of the darker games in the series already

Learning more about Xehanort and Eraqus and how they became enemies was pretty interesting!!

It's a shame we never got any direct scenes of Xehanort in his prime. edit: also, that one scene from KHIII where they say they'll be there for each other was brilliantly placed. Xehanort did indeed lose sight of this promise, but him admitting defeat to Sora proves that he wasn't too far gone despite everything he did.

Everglow, it's obvious that you have so much love and dedication for this game and this story and it shines through in every episode. Your editing is impeccable and the music choices are amazing (Vanitas' theme!!! I absolutely freaked out over that, I was hoping you'd use it). I've been looking forward to this episode since the start of Dark Road, and as I thought, it might be one of my favorite episodes because of how cool it is to see all these scenes from across the series stitched together (the cuts between Ventus' introduction scene in Birth By Sleep and Dark Road especially were brilliant). On to the content--I saw an episode of a show a little while ago where a character said that repressing memories is a common coping mechanism for foster kids. When you think about it, that's really what Ven is: he undergoes a huge trauma and loses his home, then gets abused by Xehanort in the future, before finally being placed into a stable home where he can heal and become whole again under the watch of people who will love and care for him. I honestly think the scene right before Vanitas is created is one of the most heartbreaking in the series; you can see how scared and confused Ven is, and Xehanort is just taking advantage of this poor innocent kid--it's one of the cruelest things he's ever done. Overall, it's so painful to see how far Xehanort has fallen after seeing his backstory in Dark Road, and seeing everything laid out like this really emphasizes the destabilization of the once-great relationship between him and Eraqus. Great job, Everglow! Can't wait to see how you handle KH3 once we get there ❤

You know I was thinking. After seeing Xehanort extract the darkness out of Ventus’ heart, with the addition of the MOM explaining to Luxu that the foretellers and them will harbor one of the darknesses. I think the darkness they possibly inherit could be extracted similarly to how it was for Ven (of course more efficiently) so that they can give it a form to destroy but the foretellers would still be alive (possibly) however they’d have fractured hearts like Ventus. Maybe that’s something that could happen in KH4 or maybe another title.

And that's the last time we'll ever see MOM until KH4 or maybe Missing Link as flashbacks. By Xehanort and MOM's second encounter, the young one definitely already traveled to the future of 3D and KH3, and yet I'm still not sure at which point, maybe when he first went to Scala after meeting Ansem... or after the Baldr incident but before the first encounter with MOM... or maybe even in-between the first and second encounter....

Realizing Xehanort true origins and how his fall to darkness happened is kinda making him sympathetic

(16:38) Then the following report, Report VI, says "As stated before, opening [the door to Kingdom Hearts] arguably gives that person control over all worlds," despite Xehanort having never mentioned such a concept in his Reports beforehand. Xehanort fate was sealed here he had the potential to be the child of destiny but the Master of masters manipulations caused him to fall into darkness and become the dark seeker we see in the series. It’s a shame really Xehanort could have ended up like Riku is today but outside forces changed his life for the wrost and that costed his friendship with Eraqus

That beginning scene with M.O.M. , occurred after he was done with his world tour, and further after he left Eraqus during the raining graveyard scene later in this video. In fact it lines up better with the Young Xehanort vs Young Eraqus scene with his change in thought process.

How did Xehanort even know of this info? 2 presumably died back in the age of fairy tales by the Keyblade wielders of old. However it's implied that one survived (the one residing in Ventus and presumably now Vanitas?) Also which Darkness was the one who died? How did it die? (maybe it shown on an earlier episode, can someone link me and the timestamp if possible?)
