- Explaining the Kingdom Hearts Timeline project -
As many of you already know, the Kingdom Hearts Timeline project started back in April 2018 as a way to prepare all of us for the release of Kingdom Hearts 3. What is the Timeline project? Basically, you'll see all of the story events as they chronologically happen. Which is seemingly easy to do, but...if you're familiar with Kingdom Hearts, then you do know the series is so full of flashbacks, callbacks and retcons, that it's extremely easy to lose track of them.
I always like to think of the Timeline as an experiment. I wasn’t sure if it could be a welcome one but, somehow, it was so well received that it exceeded my expectations.
The original Timeline was just a way to re-live all of the Kingdom Hearts titles leading to KH3, in a different, yet familiar way. I never had plans to go back to it, as I was fully aware of all the flashbacks and callbacks that could be added in the future titles. I don’t really like the idea of uploading new, fixed episodes every now and then-it would just confuse all of you (and, more than anyone, myself!)
Still, the requests and messages I received in the past few years made me reconsider my plans. More than anything, I did plan to complete the KHUX saga, as it was the only incomplete title when KH3 came out.
So here we are! Now that KHUX ended I have everything at my disposal for making the ultimate, complete chronological version of this title.
I can’t stress enough the purpose of this project-this doesn’t want to be the best or the perfect way of experiencing the Kingdom Hearts saga.
All of the titles should be played following their release dates. The Timeline is simply an alternate way of experiencing the story we already know and only players who already played the games should watch it. New players would be spoiled about some plot points, so be warned.
This project gives you a different perspective on specific events, and the adding of new musics, flashbacks, callbacks and secret reports, makes the whole experience even more unique and immersive.

I’ll leave some basic Q&A down here related to the future of the Timeline:
1)
Q: Will you be uploading all of the episodes from the scratch?
A: No. I’ll just reupload the episodes containing flashbacks/callbacks that we got to see after the release of KH3. For instance, the beginning of Birth by Sleep will be reuploaded since I’ll have to add the dialogue between Master Xehanort and Vanitas at the Land of Departure, occurring in Dark Road.

Q: Will the old episodes be deleted?
A: No. All of the episodes will stay, but the new ones will have the text “NEW” in the thumbnail and in the video title. The new episodes will replace the old ones in the Timeline playlist in my channel.
3)
Q: Will you be making KH3 as well?
A: Yes, but my main goal was completing both KHUX and Dark Road. I do have some plans for KH3 but I’m considering of using the PC version of it, so I can disable the music through mods and do some…special stuff. If you are a KH3 modder/you know someone who could help me, please message me on Twitter!

Q: So all of the 123 episodes list will be messed up?
A: No. KHUX will still finish on Episode 11 like I planned years ago. Dark Road will start on Episode 12. Only the beginning of Birth by Sleep might have a small change of numbers in the playlist.
5)
Q: Why did you put Missing-Link in the intro alongside the other titles?
A: Because...never say never. There's no way I can put the whole story of Missing-Link in the Timeline, not in the near future. That game's story might last some years, like it happened with KHUX. However, I did want to include it in the panels titles screen, so we finally have a complete timeline screen, for once.

I have a theory regarding what darkness said about Ven. One of the cruxes of Ven's character--and something which was told to the Union X wielders by one of the Masters, I believe Master Ira--is that friends are power. In addition, it's well established that Darkness has trouble understanding human emotions and reasoning. So maybe what Darkness interpreted as a desire for power was really Ven's desire for friendship. Plus, even if it was a desire for power, I wouldn't blame him considering how powerless he must have felt as a lonely Dandelion knowing the Keyblade War was coming.

this is what I was thinking too: Maybe Ven wanted power, but not that kind of power to destroy, like Darkness assumed. A digusting misunderstanding which makes it even mroe tragic..

Because darkness cannot fundamentally comprehend human hearts, it would never understand that vens desire for "power" is friendship. His friends ARE his power, after all

O.O Brain has the Master Defender as his keyblade!!! This implies that he was (eventually) the first Master to look after the Land of Departure......! Woah, this formless darkness stuff is wild. In summary: 6 darknesses left their form behind, and are now somehow immortal. The Master of Masters' plan is to defeat them.

All 13 darknesses left their form behind. The other 7 were planned to take form again using MoM, Luxu and the Foretellers as vessels, but in a way they wouldn't be able to control them. Since this particular Darkness says there are only 6 left, we should assume MoM's plan to capture those other 7 was successful.

"my anger needed a simple tangible target" ironically, the darkness in ventus would eventually become a "simple" tangible target,even more ironically? lauriam as the nobody marluxia would work with that same "simple tangible target" in kh3

Over a year since Union Cross ended and it still holds up as having one of the best endgames in the entire series between the reveal of MoM’s true plans, the departure of the Lifeboats by the Union Leaders, and the sacrifice of the Player

I've enjoyed quite a lot watching this episode and the previous ones, the story is very interesting to follow in the condensed format you're finally able to present! In addition, nice job with using KH3 music throughout the last episodes, especially music from Rapunzel's world and San Fransokyo, they fit right in with the mood and the context.

I laugh every time they mention Maleficent is the reason for their world disappearing cause she followed Darkness' order to take the lifeboats, which triggers the end

Hopefully one day you make some episodes of the timeline of missing links since it’s not out yet and it takes place after Union X but before dark road. But besides that Union X has one of the best but underrated and sad endings of kingdom hearts I want to see Skuld Brain Lauriam and the others again soon

Thanks to these videos I am starting to like all this plotline of the MoM saga. For sure it was a soft reboot of the KH IP. I wish things were more simple and way more Disney related. It's kinda sad. KH3 made me fall out of love with Kingdom hearts, and while watching this I feel it's completely different, but good, thing than kingdom Hearts. Anyway, amazing work Everglow, thank you.

Realizing now that Darkness knew what was in the Book and was there when it was written because the Master was already harboring one of the Draknesses. That's why it says they are "old friends"

Not that simple; Like his students, the Master of Masters specifically trained himself to be a vessel for one of the 13 True Darknesses, but not enough to lose control over himself to Darkness. It's much more likely that the True Darknesses simply looked over his shoulder to peek at the Book of Prophecies.

Xehanort will sense the entity known as True Darkness inside of Ven, he at first tries to make the two one and the same by getting Ventus to embrace and become one with it. When that fails he tries to rip it out of Ven with mixed success. He produces a being half True Darkness and half Ventus, so out comes faceless 15 year old male made of darkness and half a heart. He named this hybrid abomination Vanitas. As both true darkness and a half human Vanitas had a unique ability. True darkness needs the negative emotions of hearts to spread, true darkness can split itself into pieces to act as individuals with their own autonomy and then flow back to become part of the whole. These two aspects of two different beings are made one in the form of Vanitas’s power to create unversed. He can produce and feel his own negative emotions and he can transmit his darkness along those signals to split himself up, those splinters are the unversed and if you destroy their physical form the negativity transmits right back into Vanitas. That ability is the sign of what he is, not darkness, not Ventus, nor anyone else. He’s Vanitas, a true darkness with a human heart. Whether he remembers being True Darkness and hid that, or only remembered later (the novels/character secondary stuff leans towards the latter) is more up in the air. Ultimately it doesn’t matter, Vanitas was a unique being created by Ven and Xehanort’s actions. A creature unlike anyone else, and he chose to be Darkness all the way to grave.

I just want to reiterate as in a previous video someone told me I didn't understand. 26:00 they are talking about the data world with Elrena and Player. None of the two knew or were told about it whatsoever. And yet they don't react in any way. Ok, the matters at hand probably were more crucial. But it's not like "maybe they weren't listening to them as a form of respect". I'm going on and pretend they are aware and somehow don't mind that their whole memories were just overwritten. But I think it's something important to realise

I think it's more of a "alright, cat's out of the bag, and it ain't getting put back in" kind of situation: By this time, the Dandelions had already figured out that trying to erase everyone's memories of the Keyblade War didn't stop the course of fate from moving, and glitches like what was shown in the sky above the clock tower simply don't happen in the real world at all. Remember when Gula told the player and Skuld about the contents of the Lost Page where he pointed out that knowing what's going to happen wouldn't change the outcome of the Keyblade War? Same thing here; Knowing about the truth, that the Keyblade War DID happen, doesn't change the course of history as the world was still on the path to total destruction, so why even try to continue the lie at that point? As for why the player and Elrena didn't react, no idea, though a console remake of the game would probably change that. It's not a plothole by any means as their reactions, or lack thereof, don't have an impact on the plot at all.

Not completly i guess... When Sora used power of waking to travel to save everyone, Sora entered to Ven's heart and spoke with this one, Darkness. The Vanitas of Kh3 is from Bbs, i think. So, if Vanitas of Bbs died and it was Destroyed... why this Darkness spoke to Sora? 1.- Darkness wasnt completly extracted from Ven by Master Xehanort 2.- When Vanitas Died, a fraction of the darkness managed to save it self and hid into Vens again. Mm another point is, the Fight of Ven and Vanitas in Bbs was into their minds... I mean, of course it was dstroyed there but... not "phisycal" form mmm sus. And Aqua did not destroy him

@@keyblade43 Vanitas denies being "just Ventus' dark half" and claims to be much older, at the end of KH3. This whole thing just partly confirms it, albeit Vanitas half denies it to Master Xehanort, so we'll see.

Maybe it's the other way around. Maybe Vanitus is just a piece of Darkness when Xehanort tear it off along with a piece of Ventus' heart - thus, creating Vanitus.

I know I’m a little late for this, but I just now realized I guess that would explain how that darkness came to be inside Ven . But my question is, did he merge that darkness inside of him for it to be locked away ? I am still quite confused .

No idea; The scene is a bit too ambiguous to try and piece the puzzle together. However, we know the ultimate result: primordial Vanitas escaped to the future inside Ventus's heart.

thank you also i have seen footage of one of kingdom hearts 4's trailers and saw that sora was living in quadratum and a girl visited his apartment who looks a lot like strelitzia, with green eyes and orange hair. this leads me to believe she came to quadratum after she disappeared during the age of fairytales. interesting, isn't it?

@@ammonahwong9994 i still think the give up ending of kingdom hearts 3 re mind's secret boss is the canon outcome of that fight, in which yozora traps the defeated sora in ice which later releases him like amber (or a real life ice block) also seeing sora in good health in that trailer is good to see; once he is rescued and taken back home (remember, he lost his powers when he rewrote history, so he is stuck in quadratum), sora's story will be pretty much complete, with him and kairi stating a family (although i heard that they are just friends in the japanese version of kingdom hearts 3, but it could just be a wrong translation)
