Only con to derating I can think of is being forced onto the scales overloaded of that number and fined, but the main thing on our end of the personal buying/building trailers is doing the math to build a trailer thats safe. If the trailer is built to handle your load physically but not on paper who cares as that doesn't save lives. Private trucks & trailers are usually not like catching the big one to the man. The best advice with towing loads I can say to anyone from my experience is having strong tires, thats usually the weak point on any loads at or above maximum weight. Therefor the 215/75/17.5 rims and tires are an excellent choice. And do the math on your heavy loads by adding up the gross weight for each tire and keeping your weight under that number or you will eat tires at highway speeds. Ive been 13k over loaded on a 30kgvrw trailer across 2000miles but had a airbag hitch on the gooseneck to help save the trailer from getting beat to death is key. But it ate the 215/75/17.5 tires up bad, had to switch tom 235/75/17.5 as those have higher weight capacity. But id run atleast the 215/75/17.5s on everything now also if your tires look overloaded thats a red flag and the 17.5s help there

Congratulations on the new trailer, and great choice as well. Looks like a great size for hauling a couple tractors (big or small) and I love the winch box option. I've been hearing more and more good reviews of Diamond-C trailers, but when I bought my PJ buggy hauler two years ago, that dealer had just picked up the Diamond-C contract and were not very familiar with the brand, so I went with PJ. Plus they were the only dealer in a 200-mile radius. In a few years I'd like to buy something in the 25-30' range to haul two or three tractors with behind a pickup or a semi and I think Diamond-C will be the route I go.

You are very lucky. In California any trailer over 20 foot or 10000 lbs requires a cdl .

Pretty nice trailer. I've had pj's before and went to loadtrails as they have more features built in especially on dump style trailers. Tip the dealer told me once on on 14k trailer I got was to lic it for only 10k since the annual lic cost going up each 2k lbs beyond was about double and less than an overweight fine. (At least advice here in wisc.) I've since downgraded to 10k Axle trailers and lic at 8k lbs for $53 a year. Might be harder to get away with less lic fee on a trailer that huge but if moving one tractor at a time you could do it.

I checked here in Massachusetts a d they said same thing anything over 26k they wa t DOT numbers and CDL.
