BTR was so underrated. More people need to talk about it because it always seemed to get overshadowed by whatever Dan Schneider show was on. Not to mention I loved the little sister character! They even had a whole episode where she tried to be a “typical” girl and get girl friends only to embrace herself to dive into what wacky janitor shenanigans was going on.

Fun fact about the Snoop Dogg thing around this time when he was doing a bunch of kids shows is because his own kids were the age where they could watch the shows and he wanted to do more projects that were more family and kid friendly so that his kids could watch the stuff that he was in

"How to Rock" was actually a good show and funny. It was also a ratings hit but it was canceled due to Nick "wanting to go in a new direction". The direction was into shows targeting little kids ages 2-11 (the same reason why 'Victorious' got axed). If not for that, the show would've been renewed for a 2nd season.

Im in firm belief that BTR was one of the major stepping stones to bring back the Boy Band back in the early 2010's. At the time the show was airing, there wasn't a major boy band at the time that was very successful. With the help of the TV show, it brought the band and the idea of a boy band into many people's eyes, leading them to be successful. It led the way for even bigger successes such as One Direction and (to an extent) BTS and other Kpop groups. Its pretty cool and people tend not to talk about this.

BTR is literally the only successful project... and Victorious if we count Ariana Grande. but on that technicality, we could also count Rags as we do have Max with a pretty successful career.

oh i remember make it pop. it was an attempt to incorporate nickelodeon music with a kpop inspired style that was slowly getting popular from around 2015. i think there were some alright songs from it but honestly the most memorable thing from that show was the overdramatic plot of the storyline

I honestly would have seen so much potential in How to Rock. My Paramount+ binge for it was very worth it, they had a handful of good music & characters.

I think the reason Hannah Montana was popular is that the concept was great, and that Miley was bullied at school but the bullies worshipped her secret self was probably a power fantasy to many. To me at least, it wasn't very funny, but the concept was engaging even though being a celebrity is something of what I want to be the least. But "would she be able to keep it a secret" was engaging. The whole show has an identity crisis if you think about it 😅

JoJo Siwa is surprisingly Nickelodeon's most successful music act, and she wasn't even in a sitcom. I wonder how they learned to market her. She kind of was there Hannah Montana (and she could barely even sing lol). She just had LOTS of personality, an interesting look with her bows, and appealed to that young audience

Cymphonique Miller and Max Schneider are both SO TALENTED! How To Rock isn't the best show, like it's kind of cliche, but I found the songs relatively good (they're the weakest of all our childhood shows), but Cymphonique's voice makes up for it. They could've done so much with her, it's a real shame...maybe she should've been on Disney instead

Yay mentioning Big Time Rush being inspired by The Monkees!!! I think it’s so important to note that this concept was already done and proven successful in the 60s with the Monkees getting legit number 1 chart hits. Also there’s some BTR episodes and moments that are definitely paying homage to Beatles and Monkees (which The Monkees were a Beatles inspired thing) Although Micky Dolenz of the Monkees has compared The Monkees to Glee specifically I think this whole phenomena going on in the 2000s-2010s is similar.

Big time rush was everything to me (and still is!). I tuned into every new episodes and reruns. They were definitely the most successful out of the list just on how well they did during the shows run. Im talking sold out concerts, tv cameos, guest appearances on talk shows. Even performed at the white house and the thanksgiving day parade! They did a lot compared to other shows! Im glad that things worked out for them during the pandemic and they were able to keep the name and perform some of their older songs on top of their newer ones. And i do remember watching Make It Pop, but i had stopped paying attention halfway through their 2nd season. I was aware of kpop in 2015 and i was interested in the concept of the show. But i remember some kpop fans out there was bashing the concept and calling it cringe before they had the chance to air it. lol

Make It Pop came out only a year before School of Rock, so it may be a similar case of aging out of the audience. I really enjoyed it as a tween! The show aired in a format similar to "House of Anubis", "Every Witch Way", "I Am Frankie", etc. Which means that it had a new episode each weeknight for about a month. Make It Pop is kind of like a K-Drama, like when it comes to plot lines and antics. The premise of the show is 3 girls meet at a boarding school and start a girl band, then there is a guy who is the DJ. The group goes through high school while each of the members is also pursuing another passion. The three girls were really the heart of the show and I think their dynamic is kind of what makes the show. The show had two seasons. The acting improved in the second season, but some scenes do not have the best acting. Some of the music is quite good (I have it on my work playlist because I work with kids and they like it)! If you end up checking out some of the music, I would recommend "Tomorrow is Ours", "Whispers", or "Promise You That". I think the show is kind of an Americanized K-Drama and some of the music was similar to K-Pop styles at the time. It actually was why I started listening to K-Pop. The show isn't for everyone, but I loved it at the time and I still love the music! It is definitely worth checking out at least the music!

I loved NBB & BTR when I was younger and I still follow both btr and Nat and Alex wolf. They eat respectfully. I wish they kept how to rock, also rags is so underrated. I loved Nicks musicals, I just think it needed more promotion and better management. Maybe they could have have been what Disney is know for too.

The Naked Brothers Band literally set the ground work for these shows. It is quite literally one of my favorite shows of all time. I even have season 1 and 2 on dvd. I still follow Nat and Alex and most of the cast to this day. I will say that watching the episodes again has made me realize that the show was a little cringy but I still love it. The music in this show was way too much for its time. So fucking good. Holds a big place in my heart ❤️

Big Time Rush >>> Jonas Brothers. I am surprised the Jo Bro's even became as popular as they did considering their show just wasn't that good. And Camp Rock had me more focused on Demi and her talent. But Disney marketed them well, putting them with their main girl Hannah Montana. They were touring with Miley, and was in the highest rated episode of the show, because it came right after High School Musical 2 (their most POPULAR movie). Disney was a GENIUS at marketing during that time. Now imagine if Big Time Rush was given that, they would've been more mainstream now. BTR set themselves up by having One Direction open for them though lol, like that's your competition, they're younger, British, and were on the come-up...Disney would've known better than to do that lol

I think part of the reason the music from nickelodeon was never as successful as the disney channel's was because of the age group it was marketed for. Disney's music was marketed for families, which included children, whereas Nickelodeon's targeted teenagers. IMO, kids tend to be more hyperfixed on what they watch and end up consuming more of it, thus hannah montana's success; and since shows like victorious targeted pre-teens and teens, who don't buy into these things as much, it wasn't as much of a hit.

(Make it pop) was a great show and with great music, it was a Canadian show and can be a bit silly, but the way it was filmed made it more realistic

Does anyone think SpongeBob’s popularity may have played a role in why their music based shows never took off the way Disney’s did. It’s been the biggest show on Nickelodeon for over two decades now. It’s probably the only show from that time which was as popular as Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers were. And even now, they milk every cent they can out of it. That includes promoting the show excessively. And it’s basically an open secret that any Nick shows that aren’t immediately SpongeBob-level popular get canceled and burned off on the Nick spinoff channels no one watches. I can only imagine how frustrating it was for the executives to balance their attempts at reaching the Disney audience with their number one cash cow. So did they just screw over all these shows in SpongeBob’s favor?

I loved Make it pop! Not really for the plot but for the music, it was written in a Kpop style of music and featured Asian main characters so I think it was the significant would later become a Kpop fan. The songs are so catchy and I still listen to them today!

I have to say, it took me a long time to watch all of the big time rush show. I saw a few episodes here and there, but it wasn’t my cup at tea. But always loved their music. I got tickets to their new tour which made me want to watch the show. I did not like the episodic formula at time and how much stuff they broke each episode, but I admired how wholesome it was. I love the friendships, how Katie had four older brothers not just one, and am so glad that Kendell’s mom dod not just let them get away with stuff unless it was being involved in the prank wars or she was just too tired to yell at them. They were so nice and loyal to each other and the friends they made along away. I did not watch all the Nick stuff because I was more of a Disney fan, but out of the ones, this was my favorite due to how sweet and wholesome it is plus the timeless songs.

I loved the Naked Brothers Band! The show was so good and I still remember some of their songs. I think I liked it because it had a soap opera aspect but I could follow along, the chemistry between the cast was heartfelt and the music NEVER missed.

Victorious was robbed of a finale with that dumb cheese segment ending the show I haven’t saw naked brothers band but my brother said it was a solid show How to rock shouldve lasted longer and I had no memory of the show until I watched it on paramount plus (must’ve not have reruns at all) School of rock was in my generation of live action Nick technically and I think it was really solid

No other show will ever have the impact on me that the naked brothers band did. I LOVED Big Time Rush (enough that I've seen them twice) but I think nbb is what really made me fall in love with music (and the drama of sitcoms lol)

My opinions: Naked Brothers Band - saw it a couple of times in passing, but I don't really remember my opinion on it. Big Time Rush - loved the music and the show. Victorious - liked the show on and off, but I loved the music. How to Rock - all of the elements were just okay. School of Rock - liked the show, but you're right about it basically being a kids' version of Glee.

Guess I'm probably one of the only people who actually watched the School of Rock TV series in this comment section and actually enjoyed it. I thought it had its own charm to it and I liked the characters. That being said, I never watched the original movie and I think that's what made it more enjoyable and allowed me to understand it on its own a bit more than others might because I think what kinda buried the show was the fact that it wasn't what the movie was nor do I think they were trying to be like the movie and they wanted to do their own thing whilst using the basic concept of the movie as a base and then building things from there. That being said, the 3rd season is probably also what buried the show in its grave because what with it being the longest season as well as the one with the highest budget since it has all these big gags and stunts and performances in place of any semblance of plot.

There was that time nickelodeon made the Wonder Girls movie in 2012 that starred the members of the Kpop group Wonder Girls (pre disbandment) and had the man (Park Jin young) who founded their entertainment company JYP entertainment playing the manager. It was a fun little movie but has went pretty under the radar and not many people talk about it. It aired on TeenNick i think.

Big Time Rush was and still is so underrated! I still love BTR to this day! I still listen to all their songs! I love their newest album! All their songs are so good! Max Schneider had so many amazing, truly quality hits. With his abilities I don't know how he didn't get bigger. His talents are out of this world. 😮 Also, I've been a fan of BTR since 2009 and I'd say they're doing just fine. Sure, they don't have the popularity of Jonas Brothers but they don't need to, honestly.

I had the naked brothers band on dvd as a kid and I loved it. The show was at its best when it was focused on the Rosalina drama. When Rosalina left the band for the guy with the fake accent, when Nat wolf damaged that musician’s (I wanna say piano player?) Finger because he thought the guy kissed Rosalina, etc. I’m sure it wouldn’t hit the same now but it definitely worked at the time.

I must have been the only person who liked School of Rock, because I really enjoyed how flushed out everyone's character was and how they interacted, and the crazy situations they'd find themselves in. I even did a review of every episode explaining what I thought worked and what I thought didn't work.

I don't know if this would have affected the charts when it came to Victorious Music, but allegedly, Dan Schneider tried to make sexual advances to Victoria Justice and she said no. Allegedly, he blackballed her from Hollywood and I'm wondering if he had connections to also affect the charts when it came to the music. Her amount of screen time on Victorious got cut down in the last two seasons as well due to this (allegedly). I don't think it would be the only thing affecting chart standing, but I could see it affecting Victoria's career post Victorious.

Naked brothers band was my one of my favorite Nick shows. I was very sad when it got cancelled and that you can’t find it on any streaming apps ): I still fangirl when I see Nat or Alex in anything.

School of Rock was a fun show , I enjoyed watching it with my kids

1. I loved How 2 Rock but however, I felt the lead actress was a bit of a diva off screen. The supporting cast was amazing and the music was fun though. Zevie Forever!!! Also along with Rags, it's the show that help launch Max in a very successful music career. I'm so proud of him! 2. BTR was one of my favorite shows! I found it better than Victorious. The music was catchy and the comedy was great. 3. Naked Brothers Band was so much fun and I still listen to some of the music every now and then. Also the brothers have had their own success post show in music and film. 4. I liked Victorious but it was so cringey at times especially when there was episodes involving feet. I was more of a fan of some of the supporting cast as opposed to the lead actress. The music was great though! Also Chicagooooooooo!!!! Lol.

How To Rock was favorite show when it came out bc I was huge fan of Cymphonique at the time and I wish that it was better and it had better received. I remember when Make It Pop came out. It was created by Nick Cannon because K-Pop more specifically Wonder Girls when they crossed over to the US Market. I remember watching only one episode and then I was like yea no I’ll pass and then it was never seen or from again after the first season lol. Ironically enough, K-pop is one of the main genres of music I listen to now
