Wonderful combination. F4 and HP5+. I've had mine a couple of years and it has always been my Unicorn camera since reading about how one fell off the back of a Challenger tank in Desert Storm and survived unscathed. I sold my collection of rediculously overhyped Olympus Mju I and II cameras to pay for a clean example from Japan. It did not disappoint.

Minolta was quite ahead of its time back then too, but the F4s just fit so well in my hand!

Thoroughly enjoyed that vid Paul, we can all aspire to acquire the latest and greatest but full respect to anyone who cherishes and gains enjoyment from any item as if it just hit the stores yesterday. Best wishes for your sons next step 👍

I just received my Nikon F4 from a Japan eBay purchase and shot a roll of Ilford FP4. Can't wait to get the roll developed. The mechanics can be best described as "buttery."

You did realise I hope that you were holding the blue print for all the SLRs and DSLRs from any manufacturer that came after the F4? Iconic is not the word. This camera was so well ahead of its time.

Love my F4 - amazing build quality and superb camera. Although it all gets into a bit of a Nikon frenzy - then bought a FM, FE and a D800! Damn Nikon for their build quality….

Congratulations mate I was like you lusted after the F4s and bought one about 2 years ago it lovely by today standard is basic only one focus point but who cares it feels solid in the hand enjoy I know you will it gives you a nice feeling

I’ve just ordered one off eBay. 180 quid, I may even buy a 50mm f1.8D lens so I can use the autofocus. I’ve got several AI and AI-S lenses to play with, for now.

Hi Paul, Great video as always but I have to say, I hate the Nikon F4 (and this is coming from a Nikon film fan who has around 20 Nikon cameras). I picked one up a while ago to fill a gap in my Nikon collection and ended up selling it on a short time later. I know I'll get some flack for this but for me a it's big, heavy, plastic, Frankenstein's monster of a camera. I hate that to change virtually any setting requires pressing two buttons because everything is locked. I hate that it's prone to LCD bleed. I hate that there are two separate battery compartments (mine was an F4s) The strange thing is that my favorite 35mm of all time is it's predecessor the Nikon F3, of which I have two (the F3hp and the F3t). Now THAT's a classic, with everything I want and nothing that I don't. And if I want AF I use the F100, which is smaller and lighter and better than the F4 in more or less everything. Having posted this I'm probably going to have to hide in a darkened room for 6 months or so to avoid the flak, but I just don't see the appeal of the F4 compared to other (far superior IMO) Nikons.
