It ain’t every day that you get to have this close of a look at a racecar with provenance - and even rarer when you can talk to the guy that actually engineered the thing. When we had the chance to go through this IMSA GTO 300zx with its chassis designer Trevor Harris, there’s no way we were gonna say no.

Respectfully, it looks like the editors confused the American Pete Brock (of BRE and the Datsun campaigns) with Australian Peter Brock (of Australian Touring Car/V8 Supers) fame. Both are legends, but two different legends with very similar names.

Yeah, its a common mistake and an easy one to make, I remember when (aussie) Brocky died, He was driving a (american) Brock Daytona Coupe, and the news and everyone else were saying he died in a car he built and designed himself which was a surprise as we would have heard about it.

Great to see Trevor again! I was his office-mate for a while at EEI in El Segundo before they finished building the electronics lab. I wrote the engine management and telemetry software for the first generation digital engine management system (the EECP) used in the IMSA GTO and GTP cars (and other less famous vehicles). I was an amateur road-racer at the time and asked Trevor for any tips he might have. As I recall, his advice boiled down to "pay attention to the roll centers". Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :-)

My buddy has a black 5m Z32 TT, I have a black 6m LT1 C4. Theres a comical exchange for reliability in terms of interior and build quality the 300 has over the vette, while the vette has the advantage of drivetrain reliability (maybe not the optispark) over the Nissan. I like both cars, though the vette is much easier to work on and I'd prefer replacing an optispark to tracking down boost/vacuum leaks.

I'm dating myself a lot but I remember when this car was brand new... I was in love with it immediately. Blew my mind to find out that in the first year they didn't use the z32 heads, they used custom cast z31 heads (2v per cyl) because they already had 900hp from their z31 set-ups in the 80's. Dominant car. Beautiful engineering. Do the AAR Celicas next!!!!

This is amazing and on the other hand so sad that it is too short. I would love to see every detail of the car. This video could have more than 1 hour and still be interesting and exciting to watch. However, good job!
