veritas fanboy here! i love their version of the 62 but then i've never tried the stanley or LN the veritas has some unique features including a norris type adjustment which gives both lateral and depth

I agree! I did a video comparing the LN and Veritas but.... had errors so I took it down and imma redo it. The veritas deff has bells and whistles the LN doesnt!

Nice review! That tapered LN base (boss) just for the tote is huge by the way. Without it, the line of force is not as much both forward and downward as required. This causes a need to press the front of the plane down to keep engaged in the cut leading to more friction and overall force pushing required which leads to bad form. New cheaper Stanley Low Angles exhibit this negative characteristic leading me to say”You get what you pay for”….Buy American when possible bro’s!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Bigger wheel on LN may not be able to move forward long enough to provide the full blade advancement.

SUPER tough with the Stanley 62 :( I've seen them go for 150 to 350. The LN is $295+ tax and ship

Hey man, I own both both of those planes but have no idea why your comparing them to each other, there is 100 years between them and any comparison is unfair. Manufacturing methods, available materials at time of production and technologies available greatly differ. I like your videos but please compare like with like

Hey, thats exactly why I am comparing them. To show what LN improved with better equipment, metals, etc. And why they improved those things. I was curious, and I assume others are also. We know LN is better because it was made 100 years later, but what makes it better? What changed? That's what I'm showing. It is also helping us understand hand planes better: more bed for the iron, helps with what? Better iron material, helps with what? Etc. I hope that helps explain the series. It's deff not a knock on Stanley. It just showing how LN took their design and improved it :)

Yes but the Stanley also improved so why not compare it to the sweetheart 62 what you'll find is for half the price you get almost the same specs

It's really a unfair comparison, you compared an old Stanley to a new Lie Nielsen what would have been better is take the new Stanley sweetheart 62 and compared it to Lie Nielsen. The sweetheart is half the price of the Lie Nelson but the specs are almost exact same

The point is to show what LN upgraded and why. I have a whole serious comparing LN and vintage Stanley to show the improvements since we have better metals and machining now

Wrong comparison, you should compare a modern stanley with te lee nilson.

The LN vs Stanley series is to show what LN upgraded and why. They could do this cus we have better metals and machining now.

i don't hear any compliments to stanley, look at the lever cap of LN there are too much play

there is play in the cap, you are correct. The aim of this series is to look at Stanley and LN and see what LN upgraded with better technology and such that is out now. No knocks against Stanley at all, they were pioneers in the field and made the best with what they had :) I hope that helps explain a bit
