The Radius Garden Mini Tool Set is super sturdy and the kids LOVE them! These would also be great for smaller gardens, raised beds, flower beds, and urban gardeners. They are so much lighter than full size tools that they would also be great for Seniors or those with less upper body strength but sill love to be in their garden.

When I was a child growing up, I was the dishwasher, I was the TV remote, I was the garage opener, I was the snow remover, etc. When I grew up I told myself I would get things to do these things for ME...so I did. I got my own kids!!! LoL :-)

Oh yeah! I (Lacie) washed dishes a lot, we didn't have a dishwasher. Our kids have been helping with the dishes but they also have other work that they do on the farm and the dishes were just too much. Now we have a robot in the family to wash dishes and that is their only job.

As a Marriage councelor i am amazed at how you both work together, and the fact that Lacey sometimes wears the pants Mike is still full of self confidence without his male ego being deflated. You are an amazing example of how healthy minded people can see the talents of their partner and feel their own individual strengths. Your children are lucky to have you as examples.

Back in the day there was a book in the library called Appliance Repair. I checked it out often. It was before computer components on appliances. I was a stay at home mom for awhile and money was tight. We repaired every appliance we had more than once. KZfaq is so much easier because you can watch it in action. Teamwork does make the dreamwork, peace and love.

Proud of you for putting up this video! We are off-grid, and we have all of the “normal “ appliances. We have efficient, low water use appliances, and our hot water, frig, and freezer are all propane. Homesteading does not mean that you have to suffer, although sometimes you have to do without for a while. We have been doing this for fifteen years. We lived in a trailer for 2 1/2 years, before we built our house. The trailer did not have a dishwasher, the house does. I love my modern appliances, and I am not ashamed of it. We have enough work to do without someone spending their life washing dishes. Congratulations on your new dishwasher!

The Fit Farmer - Mike Dickson thanks for the reply. It hasn’t been easy, and it didn’t come all at once. We sized what we had to what our infrastructure could support. Every “convenience” was a way to save: water, power, fuel, and most importantly time. Slow and steady friend - you’ll get to where you are abt to be! Kinda like body building.

That was great work! I have washed dishes by hand my whole life and was always envious of people who had one and they always had clean countertops! Cooking everything from scratch always creates a mess. Constant washing. I bought a dishwasher but was too intimidated to install it myself. I guess I better get with it.

Don't apologize! Like Mike said, it is a tool! Although I love watching Mike, I always enjoy getting to see Lacey! Way to go girl! It is also very refreshing to see and hear you celebrate your differences and agree with you that we are made to compliment each other. I also hear you about the dishes! Our children are grown and gone but I milk a couple cows so I find I spend a HUGE amount of time cleaning and sanitizing and processing the milk--with making cheeses and butter. Although I really like handwashing dishes and still do hand wash many, many things, I just find I can't keep up especially when there are so many small things to do and wash....It is nice to load the washer and then go do something else--plus the high heat is nice to get jars ready to use for different things.

Love to watch the unity & love. Lacie you're amazing ready to tackle anything. So nice to have sterilized jars, dishes etc. I live off grid in Oklahoma cutting & splitting fire wood at 68. Amazing so many don't understand loving being challenged. I have 11 grandchildren maybe a few will follow the passion. Your knowledge of unity needs to be shared and realized. At least you spoke truth then showed it. Be blessed beyond measure may God keep your family knitted tight together in His love.

Ice dips for the wrists and forearms (your'e probably already familiar): sink or bucket with cold water + ice or frozen used plastic bottles or bags of water. Dip the hand/wrist/forearm/elbow - whatever - in the ice water for a few seconds, take it out for a few. Repeat for two minutes. In my opinion this works better than straight icing for the hands, wrists, forearms, elbows and feet.

I loved this video you guys! I'm reading a book right now called ,Homesteading From Scratch by Steven Jones. In it he quoted a blogger named Samantha Mclellan, her blog is "Sweet Potatoes and Social Change". She said, " I didnt want to use homesteading as a means of hiding or 'bactracking' to the 'good old days'. Rather, I wanted to use it as a means of embracing the present and advocating for a better future, a future that fused the wonder of technological advancement and modern medicine with tried and true wisdom of nature and past generations." I read this to my sister and we both smiled because that is what we were thinking but didnt know how to put into words. Different homesteaders will have different levels of modernism in their day to day lives and workings. It doesnt mean you fail as a MODERN Homesteader if you have a couple of modern conveniences in your household. These things were developed to solve problems, if they help you solve a problem, then use them as you would any other tool in your tool or garden arsenal. Great video! Thank you for making it it really helps put thing in perspective!

I've done some light electrical stuff myself before we moved to our homestead. I hooked up our panels myself and wired it to the shed. Handeeman came over to help hook up the rest of the equipment. The Tesla batteries we use are live when messing with the positive terminals. There were lots of sparks hooking those up. That was crazy.😬

On another note if we go pre-industrial age we can do things like 'hire' someone to do the jobs we don't have time for or even barter things like having a real live dishwasher in return for a place to live. Some of us can't make it on our own but still have valuable skills we'd be willing to trade in exchange for being able to live, rather than having to ask the government for help since they're already BEYOND tapped out. (just a thought) Really enjoyed this video got a few smiles and a lesson in electrical safety.

God challenges us everyday but if it is something that we want we need to work hard for it. I think we learn from everything we do. I am doing what I can to learn and even though some may not think it is a good fit, saving for land to homestead. I can't have a dish washer. Where we live there is no room for one even a potable one because there would be no place to store it when not in use. We all do what we can. This week was a canning beans week for me I did 6 cases of pints ,3 blackeye peas and 3 cannelloni beans. Trying to get a head because garden time is coming and then canning time and I will need meals that are quick to prepare. God's blessing to you and yours

Keeping things clean is a never ending task and vital to a homestead. Dishwasher uses less water than hand washing. That's from a study I read a long time ago. You need the sterilizing quality of a dishwasher if you plan on having milk goats or cows. Also, sleeping cool is important to physical health.

Honestly, I can see why you need a dishwasher. It's tough keeping up with dishes just from my wife and I. I can't imagine with a family your size.😬 Plus a dishwasher can possibly be a water saver. It may depend on how the dishes are hand washed. 👍

No judgment at all - as a business owner the hardest part and the biggest thing I can do to bring value to my business is to learn to delegate. I think you guys could use a bakers rack or a little more open storage. A place for everything and everything in its place. I know it seems like a lot of space in the Yurt but that is really not a huge kitchen and there isn't much counter space for putting up a harvest. Give yourself a break a little bit.You have a lot of "Up" space, think vertically.

Fyi dishwashers generally use much less water than doing them by hand. So in a way you did your farm a service by getting the dishwasher

Well modern dishwashers are probably a heck of a lot more efficient water wise and most any wise then doing it by hand. Save some by not using heated dry. One of the best Robots on Earth.
