I don't support a lot of things YGE does, but them chosing to not let their artists attend the mama awards anymore was a smart move. the mama awards have been a dumpster fire for the last 5 years or so

I remember when MAMA was not just K-pop. Bring that back. MAMA was really doomed when they stopped having 3rd gen idols. There were some good stages, but still.

In my opinion, the lack of interaction between idols is in large part the fault of the new wave of kpop fans. The insane possessiveness, the way they handle interactions with people who like different groups, their eagerness to annihilate any idol who makes a mistake...it's been so sad and so frustrating to watch.

I tuned in for Ateez and as always I loved their performance, I also voted for them on Worldwide Fans Choice because I didn't want them to go there and leave empty handed but if MAMA really ceases to exist I don't think anyone would really miss it anymore.

MAMA should be disappeared immediately because what I saw in the Internet was found to be boring and I don’t like idols having no reactions or supports to their colleagues because in my opinion, this supports not only helps themselves better but also acknowledges each other!

MAMA should go back to become ASIAN awards not just KOREAN awards... There are a lot of great talents all over Asia that deserved to be recognized as well.

Here in the Philippiness, we anticipate Asia Artist Awards (AAA) more than MAMA Awards. The lineup is much diverse; there are artist/idols from different entertainment, and different gens.

TO BE HONEST- the last time I actually enjoyed MAMA was 2020, that was the last GREAT one to me.

I enjoy Ateez's performance, how people and idols were enjoying the songs singing and dancing together was really cool and fun. And yes! They were robbed.

MAMA performances don’t feel the same as anytime BIGBANG performed. It used to feel magical the way performances were done. I enjoyed ATEEZ’s cinematic typed performance this year, but I still don’t find the same spark I used to feel when watching MAMA.

I only watched Ateez performance. Mama robbed ateez by not putting them in several categories. Ridiculous.

I thought this started happening when companies would have their artists stop attending if they didn't win, which over the years influenced the nomination list and who won over time. This has been called out by Bigbang's G-Dragons diss rap in his 2014 "Good Boy" performance that MAMA feels like they have to give everyone an award to keep them all happy. So I always assumed nominations list were based on who gave MAMA the "ok" they were showing up lol. With that being said, as a fan of Bigbang, I always appreciated that no matter how much they were aware the ' BS and rigged awards, the group and it's members always showed to perform regardless, gave some of the greatest performances in history, and stayed at the award show to the end without ever leaving early. Which I felt was all for the VIPs who took their time to physically come out to watch the award show in person. Even in 2015, when CL and 2NE1 performed for the last time, CL and the group wasn't nominated or won anything, but she still came out to perform for all the Blackjacks and it was amazing.

I only watched MAMA for (G)I-DLE and ATEEZ

Anddd the fact they’ve been holding it in Japan these years.. we rarely get any idol reactions to eachother’s performances due to the strict filming policy there and this was a huge reason why award shows were loved as well.

To be honest, I've only watched MAMA for the 3rd gen only. There performances has a good feeling and showed emotion. They all supported each other, had fun moments and even jammed out. The 4th gen seems to be robotic and no emotion showed what so ever. I loved watching BTS, Twice, Exo and many more 3rd gen groups. Not going to lie but some of the 3rd gen nominations were actually true and not all fake.

Mnet's MAMA Awards is just a popularity contest nowadays. If you get the most views & sales, you're 90% the winner. And if you aren't nominated despite doing well and having a good project, it's due to their bias towards certain groups.

MAMA's most legendary years were around 2009 and 2011 and 2013 were the legendary years of Mama especially 2011. Performance wise and group distribution wise. I really have nothing against Gen 4 or Gen 3 pf Kpop because they are all huge and they are doing amazingly well. But genuinely Gen 2 were really another level their performances and stage presences were really another level especially 2011

Let’s be real here. There hasn’t been an exciting MAMA awards since 2ne1 did their last stage there. I would add KARA too, and it definitely was exciting and incredible, but the 2ne1 performance was when artists could still dance around and be active with one another. And hearing that crowd’s reactions when 2ne1 came out is insane.

I'm uncertain about my overall feelings towards award shows in general. It's not because of the groups' performances, as they all work hard and deliver great stages that I genuinely enjoy. Instead, my reservations stem from the planning of the event itself, with at least 1-2 groups consistently being treated unfairly. Not to mention, the terrible camerawork and editing that’s been going on for years, detracting from the overall experience.

award shows were the highlights of kpop back then. and since 3rd gen it’s been going downhill. the peak of award shows was when bigbang, suju, 2ne1, snsd, t-ara etc were active. i dont even know mama happened until the day it happened. nowadays fans are happier if their fav group doesnt attend award shows and just focus on their own schedules. it’s tiring, rigged and not worth it

I was honestly really excited for MAMA awards but when they announced the artist line-up, I was disappointed to see Stray Kids not being there, hence I decided not to watch that award show at all. Like this year Stray Kids were so big but still MAMA couldn't manage to have them in the event.

Honestly this has been happening since the start of 3rd gen, with the amount of issues MAMA has had! I remember 2017 was particularly awful, especially due to voting manipulation and the treatment of idols and fans. Since then I've boycotted it! Honestly hope this is a wake up call for the organisers.

They completely left out stray kids , even though they achieved so many peaks this year. They took 4 consecutive albums to top billboard 1, their songs were hits every time they released, their colab was great, and many more. They left out STRAY KIDS out of the line up, nominations, and awards . We STAYS , will never forget this !!!!

No to be real with you I was so excited to see the stray kids performance cause their performance last year was really good but they weren't even in the line up. Also as a person who just started stanning k pop this year I honestly expected a lot from MAMA because people are always saying that this award shows is good so I am hella disappointed. From the line up and the categories that are literally the worst that they can even do.

Once award ceremonies stopped being inclusive of all companies, makes of annoying. I’m only glad Seventeen got all the awards and attention they deserved after 9 years.

I remembered in 2017 till 2019 being extremely excited everytime the date of mama announced. Now, i don't even know the date until the txt telegram groupchat i have notified me there is a red carpet happen that evening. Yes, i watch the whole ceremony live online and can assured the talking is too long lol. I thought it's just me being less excited and thought that maybe its just me gettting matured as time goes by. As a K-POP stan since 2006, MAMA isn't even MAMA Now, because of the back lash in 2022, some agencies decided to sent only groups which fans requested for, nothing else. Because they don't want their groups to be ashamed, good job agencies. I will sure miss MAMA but MMA, Gayo daejun and Golden disk awards seems lot more better.

Honestly, I stopped watching the awards after 3rd gen idols stopped attending. The last one I streamed was in 2018, and in 2019, I only watched for GOT7. But award shows, especially MAMA, have been going down watch-wise for a while now. It really occurred to me in 2014 SMH.

i haven´t paid attention to award shows since 2018 but one thing i noticed in a few clips is also the stages and set designs, before they used to be super intricate and sized for groups to be dancing, now they are just this enormous flat spaces for screens and to have as many back up dancers as posible, this makes the performances in my opinion a lot less personal and every performance looking the same

Some people have the mentality that if their group doesn't perform and doesn't get enough awards, the show is boring. Of course you have to talk badly about the whole performances, because without the beloved favs it can only get boring. 🙄 I really enjoyed some performances this year.

Japanese audience is always more subdued than elsewhere, because they enjoy music respectfully. Japanese concerts are always some of the best concerts.

I've stopped watching MAMA since 2022 because 3rd gen groups like BTS, Twice, EXO, Red Velvet, Gfriend and even other groups like Iz*one made me watch MAMA since, but now they're no longer attending anymore, I've lost interest very quick, and on top of that, there aren't that much interaction between other idols from different groups or companies which makes it even worse

TBH, I've only watched MAMA awards because of Twice, BTS, and Mamamoo. These groups always give their whole slayussy in their performances and I couldn't ask for more. Unfortunately, BTS is in the military, Twice are busy with their tour and everything, and I have no idea where Mamamoo is.

this was my first ever mama award show as a kpop stan and i was VERY disappointed and i am the biggest moa so i was very very irritated when i was watching txt cause i couldnt even see them. The dance practice was even better. And the unfair treatment of girl groups i love le sserafim so much and the performance was so good but they didnt even get enough screentime omg.

Let's be honest it not only MAMAs but also K-pop's fault in general. Nowadays the singers don't sing, the performers don't perform. Whom are we kidding? Tell me how many of the 4th gen groups actually sing live at least 90% of the time? How many times have they been caught lip syncing in how many stages? If the singers are afraid to sing live on stage then what's the point of being a singer?? Since they don't even sing live, they can't give 100% of their energy to their performances. Maximum of them don't even have stage presence!! Every award performances have just become about the stage design and concept rather than the performer and their performances. I still remember the idol crowd interactions that once used to happen in K-pop award shows. Nowadays, it's just idols coming to stage, dancing, doing some acrobatics, some random fans cheering, and bye. No interactions, nothing. Of course, the AWARD show has lost its importance now when the performers are this bland. Also, I was shocked to death when I heard jisoo's flower was given the best performance award or something. Like making the "talented dancers" of tiktok dancing to such a simple hook step is worth awarding now. Imagine a choreo and performance like flower winning "best performance" award, and ATEEZ & SKZ breaking their bones and throats to perform live are not even nominated.

I feel like it went down after 2nd and 3rd generation performance-wise. The last best performance for me was by Big Bang when I enjoyed watching everyone at MAMA. I tuned in to watch Ateez who never lets me down

The groups are afraid to interact with each other , most of them just go on stage doing their thing and go back except maby Treasure at least they are trying to hype up the crowd and other groups to lift the spirits

To me 80% of award shows in kpop are now literally meaningless due to manipulation and ignoring the real artists that deserve the awards. Especially the way they treat GG in any awards despite they making more impact than others.

Definitely skipped MAMA this year and probably will next year if it’s gonna continue to be like this. I remember 2008 MAMA and it’s such a vast difference in how the show is run, filmed, and organized. It just gets worse and worse every year.

It's not only bad camerawork but also really bad sound. Some MAMA performances are amazing because groups tend to do remixes and special stages of their songs and I love listening to those but the audio quality is just so bad that listening to it is no fun... Whenever I watch MAMA performances I am so mad... they have been so good quality years ago but everything just dropped...

Mama in 2nd gen was absolutely something els but mama today isn’t that very good anymore so I don’t bother it mama’s now but it was nice to see some JPOP artists such as Jo1 INI and a legendary J rock star Yoshiki form x japan

The problem is not only MAMA the award show, it's also the quality of the artists themselves. Some of the artists/idols that perform are only good dance-performers. Beautiful stages and beautiful faces, but no soul or genuine passion. No interaction or connection with the audience. That's what made artists like BIGBANG and 2ne1 so special. They had this power to pull you in and make you part of the show. No artist has done what they did in 2015. Instead we get perfect, emotionless dancing that is pretty to look at, but doesn't draw you in at all. And the fact that most groups/artists can't and/or won't sing live is another huge issue. So many amazing artists in Kpop and Asia that can engage AND entertain an audience are overlooked to perform at these shows simply because they're less successful and underrated.
