Here's one: unicorns (mentioned in the video) did exist. They only got extinct a couple of centuries ago. They weren't horse like, but rhino like. The only rhino species still left are bicorns.

This video is full of misconceptions, the fact that majority Christian belief is compatible with those misconceptions doesn't mean that the Bible asserts them. The Bible doesn't mention cages. Animals populate the Earth without anyone segregating them, feeding them or cleaning up after them. The vast percentage of animals that ever existed are now extinct, something pretty heavy duty occurred that caused that. There is abundant geologic evidence of a global watery catastrophe. Every creationist point ridiculed in parts 1 & 2 of this series has a credible defense or is a misconception if what the Bible actually asserts. A KZfaq comment isn't the proper venue for serious discussion however.

@drc3po Alright, perhaps you missed the point where I said that the Bible doesn't mention cages and that animals populate the Earth without anyone segregating them, feeding them or cleaning up after them. That actually addresses a point raised over and over in both of the videos. The humans did not have to feed or protect the animals from each other any more than humans have to look after the needs of wild animals anywhere today. They feed themselves, and avoid predators well enough without our help. Think open rooms on three floors with large quantities of vegetable matter strewn about that served as food and habitat. Animals ate and were eaten, enough survived though to give us what we have today. There was probably a human controlled area where the people lived and kept domestic animals but the bulk of everything else was on its own. This is just one tiny point, the video was rapid fire and it takes several orders of magnitude more of a word count to refute a falsehood than it does to state it, hence my comment about venue.

The story of Noah's Ark makes complete sense. You just can't think about it, or try to rationalize it, or use common sense like realizing that one elephant alone would require over 183,000 lbs of food in one year.

I think there's some kind of crazy explanation to this that God "magic'd" the animal's digestive systems in order to explain all the problems with food and waste management. It's shocking that the need to believe is so strong that there's no level of preposterous that creationists won't go to to hang onto the knot in the end of the rope of their belief system.
@Call_Me_Echelon
@Call_Me_Echelon 9 жыл бұрын
Richard Neel It's like when you need a lie to cover up another lie and then so on and so on. Noah's Ark is a perfect example. At first you hear what it says in the bible and you accept it. Then you ask a question and the answer itself is questionable. Then you ask another question and the answer is even stranger. By the time you ask your last question you get answers like, Noah had magical food and the animals were all trained to take dumps off the side of the boat and all the animals could drink salt water so that Noah didn't have to carry the 800,000 gallons of fresh water needed to sustain all the animals. When I was little I believed in the Ark and a worldwide flood because I believed in God and and I didn't know any better. When I got older and learned more about the real world I started questioning religion and the stories that just didn't make any sense. That's when the answers to those questions get stranger and have less base in reality. Once the answers became, you just have to believe, I was done with religion.

@@Call_Me_Echelon: LOL, Oh man, that is exactly the way it is. It just non sense on top of non sense. The funniest thing I have heard is "hydroplate theory". The idea that the tectonic plates were all gliding on water. Then the water comes out. Ok, but how hot was this water? Was it 1500 C, which is the same temperature as lava? At that temperature, you don't even have liquid water no matter what the pressure is. It would be so hot that Noah and all with be cooked. You can find that "hydroplate theory" on conservepedia that org, which is a type of wiki. Then there was the how did animals get back home part. Some guy came up with a "theory". Volcanic explosions blew the animals back to Africa, Madigascar, Hawai, Australia, New Zeland. Then I read the talk page on conservepedia that org. A creationist wrote: WTF? I am a creationist but this explosion theory doesn't make any sense. And they were arguing over it. Here you go! www.conservapedia.com/Post-Diluvian_Diasporas They removed the volcano thing from the main page but you can find them discussing in the talk page. Fortunately, I kept the original text on the main page: "Explanation for spread of animals The events of the Great Flood would kill all land-dwelling life on earth save for a 'seed' population at a single location - the landing point of the ark. The land area today is discontiguous - this presents a problem for the flood account, as there is no apparent means by which animals may migrate to disconnected land." "Volcanoes The Post-Noachian Flood Volcano Theory comes from the example of Krakatoa, which, in 1883, erupted and destroyed most of the island, thus remaining lifeless for many years. Still the same life that was there before the eruption eventually came back. It is possible that volcanoes in the Mount Ararat region were able to transport the smaller animals over much greater distances than the animals could get just by walking.[Biblical Citation Needed] "

My strong preference for fantasy stories did me a disservice when it came to critically thinking about the bible. I, for one, had not problem believing that Noah fit all those animals into the boat because "God made it so." At 10, I had a poor concept of the line between fantasy and reality, and if Harry Potter could fit several large living areas and bedrooms into a tent, why couldn't God fit all those animals into the ark?

Sure, 29000 feet of water would be a lot of rain. But also, the top of the tallest mountains are covered in ice. And it doesn't rain at that altitude, it snows. So by the end of the fortieth day the ark would be encased in ice and everyone and everything inside would freeze to death. Which is not that big a deal. They would all suffocate from the methane and ammonia from the animal waste long before then.

We do know that there was global flooding, of every low-lying region and coastline. 120 meters lower, were the sea levels during most of human history. Ancient city sites would be at the coastline near rivers, and that's all ~400 feet deep now. Between 8k-6k years ago, we lost a meter per century, fast enough for humans to notice it. This was also the timespan when every major river system had a glacial dam break, releasing truly catastrophic flooding that washed parts of mountains down to form off-shore reefs. This was when the Med went from freshwater outflowing, to sea water. Everything was different; What we call lowlands today were inland uplands to them. Look up Doggerland, about which we've learned a lot. Similarly, the Agean and Adriatic were dry land, as was the Persian gulf. Practically dry land with a few deeper channels, all the way from Asia to Aus. Japan almost connected to Asia and Russia and Korea. Everyone 7k years ago knew about it, knew somebody who'd bee displaced by it. Stories of ancient kingdoms being taken by the sea were literally true, everywhere. It's no wonder flood myths are prevalent, but none of them quite got any facts right.

DarkEnergy7 Atheists don't really have anything in common other than a lack of belief in a deity... There's a famous quote about this from someone, not sure who (might be Hitchens or Dawkins)... but they said that "atheists are like a herd of cats", in the sense that you can't really group them together... we all have our own totally different opinions and go our own way.

Evolution _is_ real, any fool knows that, but the idea that life simply happened, and from a single celled organism evolved into all the millions of species around today (atheistic evolution) is _very_ far fetched
@yaboiramses
@yaboiramses 4 жыл бұрын
Anonymous Not if you take into account mutations within the DNA and natural selection. Those single celled organisms became more complex making multicellular life. This took over a billion years to make simple animals like sponges and jellyfish. Some million years later fishes evolve to walk on land and breathe. We know this because all DNA in every single organism is similar, like how it’s all carbon-based and all structures of DNA look like this 🧬. It’s not at all far-fetched, and I wouldn’t say I’m an atheist. I think God made that one cell able to reproduce and become us one day. However I don’t believe in the Bible, I believe in science.

Nobody ever talks about how all these animals including 2 million species of insects and parasites should have even reached the arc, let alone getting back to where they came from. 8 people would have needed about 1000 years and modern technology only to get them all collected, and most of these creatures only have a lifespan of some months. This fairytale is so dumb, everybody who thinks about this more than 2 seconds should realise that it can´t be true.

These facts are out there literally everywhere, yet even in the debates or lectures that tackle this subject head on, the point isn't driven home so well. Even if the comedic aspect was completely removed there's something about seeing people (albeit cartoon versions) in the actual situation trying to deal with it that reattaches the part lost in translation when it's discussed nowadays & just makes it click. It helps to remove most of the abstract-ness (yes I know that's not a real word). Excellent, excellent job sir!!

In 9th grade the vice principal of our private Christian school would give us Bible classes the same as regular classes, and one of the things he said that proved the Bible was true was that scientists found ancient dolphin skeletons in the Sahara desert. Which proved that the whole world was underwater. Which proved that the flood of Noah's arc happened. To this day, it still blows me away what they were allowed to get away with teaching us. We were also taught literal six day creationism too. And that rainbows literally didn't exist before the one God sent to Noah's family after the flood.

The story is based off possibly a very large regional flood in the Mesopotamian region that was exaggerated to extreme proportions. Also based off of many "Flood stories" written before it in the same geographical region. Such as in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Could there have been a flood that killed a lot of people and animals in that region and to their primitive understanding of the world around them make it feel like it was a god wiping out everything on earth? Yeah its possible and its most likely the situation that arose to create such a tale.
