I got the noctua nh d15 dual tower air cooler, is there anything that forces orientation to be fans pointed front to back, or can I put them bottom to top? Also, it comes with 2 fans, mounted front and middle, if it were oriented bottom to top, I could mount the fans top and bottom (middle open) or place a third fan on the cooler. Is this a major no-no or just "extra"/unnecessary? If the cooler *must* be oriented with fans facing front to back, these are all moot questions

Fun video, thanks for doing it! I have a couple of points of curiosity here: why not pit dual tower cooler against dual tower cooler(i.e. Noctua NH-D15 against the Cooler Master MA624)? Was it that your selections here were closer in price, so you were looking at a cost/performance comparison? (I have not looked up the prices independently, just spewing out the first thought I had here.)

@@ShaneMcGrath. I have a CoolerMaster HAF 922 case that has a 200mm fan in the top. Plenty of clearance, not certain about the Phanteks you mentioned. The edge of the NH-D15S is flush with the edge of my motherboard and there is 1 inch clearance between the cooler fins and the fan in top of the case. Note that my CPU is an i9 9900KS and the motherboard is a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master, a full size board. You might be able to get some screen shots of my motherboard and yours, measure where the center of the CPU would be on both boards, if the distance is close to the same to the [top] edge of the motherboards then where the cooling fins of the Noctua will be easy to determine.

Yes, it would be nice is all air coolers were made a bit offset to avoid ram issues. But Coolermaster does allow you to slide the fans on either side up so you can clear ram. Well in case if you still don't know you could do some over clocking but not too much . If you can fit dual tower air cooler /aio 240mm then i recommend that . If your just gaming and not over clocking then its perfect it will mostly be hitting between 60-75.

It’s okay but a larger dual tower cooler would be better. Or the U12A since it has the cooling performance of a dual tower 140mm cooler despite only being a 120mm cooler. But you do pay a price premium for its small size vs 140mm and 150mm coolers

Guys, so far, all my pc rigs had fanless power supplies. For audio stuff, noise in super important. So going fanless was almost mandatory. Of course, those cost a lot, and aren't very powerful, watt- wise. I'm now building a new computer, based on a ryzen 5800x(available) or a 5900 or 5950x, if I can find 1. I will use m.2 cards, probably 1 or 2 2000/4000GB ssds for storage, and eventually 2 big WD red 8TB for backups, etc. I also want to add a gaming card, like a 6800xt or rtx3080. No overstocks. How many watts should you get, for a power supply, if possible, fanless ? Also, are the fans on most power supplies quite audible, (like 1 to 10), compared to a good silent case with its 2 or 3 factory fans spinning at lowest rpm ? Also, I see Antec no longer make cases like the old P280... and only sell cheapass cases ? What is the equivalent of an old P280 case ? Thanks for taking the time to read, and, eventually, reply :)

im doing a similar 5800x build right now with a 3060ti and I went 850. Could of got away with a 750 with headroom but with current price differences being so little went with the 850. Nvidia suggest atleast 750 for machine with 3080 so i would go atleast 850 and possibly 1000. Just go for trusted brands. For me its Seasonic or Corsair.
@williamp6800
@williamp6800 2 жыл бұрын
One extreme approach to getting silence is to get a motherboard with Thunderbolt and put the whole computer in different room where whatever noise it makes won’t be an issue. You just have a Thunderbolt dock in the same room you’re in to handle whatever I/O you need at hand. This approach might be viable with the latest versions of USB as well, although I don’t know how far USB C can carry a video signal or if latency might be an issue.

You are confusing man...I bought a 3900x and it seems either of these will take care of it, the noctua being louder due to static pressure. You have evga links in description and no links to buy either of these 🤔 Not sure on a resolution yet but buying either of these will be better than the stock wraith. Still not sure on temps...80c heat soaked??

Can the larger cooler fit in your case? Buy it. Or one of the similarly sized Noctua, Scythe, Be Quiet, or other large coolers. Can’t fit a cooler that big in the case you want to use but the U12A will fit? Then buy it. Nothing else in its size cools as well. BTW, the the U12A is also the most expensive choice out of all the options I’ve mentioned. Seriously, more expense than the bigger coolers. Why? Because of the amount of engineering it took to make a 120mm CPU perform like a 140mm one.

@@Henrik0x7F The U12A is a 120 made to compete against 140mm coolers. So yes it is fair. And when you look at it’s price and see that it’s more expensive than Noctua’s own dual tower 140m, then it’s definitely fair. In fact, the U12A is the more expensive cooler in this test.
@Henrik0x7F
@Henrik0x7F 2 жыл бұрын
@@williamp6800 I see the U12A as an option for people who want 140mm like performance in a case that does not fit 140mm coolers. If you have the luxury to get a 140mm cooler than you should probably not get the U12A. But if you're looking for a 120mm cooler saying a 140mm might be better doesn't help much

Disliked because: You compared two unlike products and then said one was cheating, no you just made a bad comparrison Your details were all over the place The compilation of data was basic and jarring, scrolling on hwinfo does not show me any analysis that you did. You just used it and showed me some stats. You didn't even talk about all the figures you showed, you scrolled past power info and speed info but really only talked about max temperatures. Organize your script better, condense your data, stop talking randomly

Kioxia is a relatively new thing, but it's a partnership between a bunch of different flash memory manufacturers, with Sandisk as the primary stakeholder.
@williamp6800
@williamp6800 2 жыл бұрын
Uh…..no. Kioxia was formed when Toshiba spun all off its memory business, while retaining a 40% ownership stake, in 2018. Toshiba had previously bought OCZ in 2014. Sandisk was acquired by Western Digital, now just called WD, in 2016. Back in 2000, Toshiba and Sandisk formed a joint venture to produce flash memory. Since WD currently gets its flash memory from Kioxia, I suspect at some point that joint venture became wholly owned by Toshiba, thus ending up in Kioxia.
