If you want to specialize in weddings and events you want dual card slots as your #1 camera feature. The BMPCC 4K doesn't have redundancy (that'll keep up) and that's a black flag for what you want to do.

Hi, firstly, welcome to dad world, I hope you are managing your sleep ok. So...I'm trying to weigh up whether I buy the g85 or gh5, but I just saw your purchase of the xs-10... so, it's tricky to decide. I do short youtube promos and some portraits, some product shots (but photography on this was not awesome) but I'm not doing short films or anything amazing like you're doing... I've been using an LGV40 and Movi Cinema Robot with Filmic Pro, but I'm looking to move across/up. Slow mo at only 60fps on the g85 is stopping my commitment - and no cheap kit options in Australia at the moment, just bodies that I don't think will fit my mates canon glass when I borrow his stuff. Advice welcome :)
@NolanGunn
@NolanGunn 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Sleep is slowly getting better so I’m super grateful for that 😊 If you do some hybrid shooting, the XS-10 would serve you very well. Otherwise if you’re shooting 100% video and need 4k60, unlimited recording, and no overheating (XS-10 will overheat on hot days with longer takes) then the GH5 is a great option. But for you, I think you would love an XS-10 and a Fringer adapter for the Canon glass. Thanks for the question!

@NolanGunn
@NolanGunn 3 жыл бұрын
It’s true that it is not very good. If you’re running it a lot shooting B-Roll you will drain it pretty quickly (I don’t have exact numbers) but if you dim the screen and shoot a static shot, you can get more than an hour (broken into 30 minute annoying chunks).

@@NolanGunn Thanks for your reply, that's about what I expected. I don't plan on shooting long continuous clips, but better battery life would be good for traveling especially. Hi, how's the sharpness on it? From some reviews and videos, photos seem noisy somehow. I tried to compare it with the a6400. Sony just looks more clear, and the gradient looks perfect, but that is just footage I found on internet. Maybe it is all in my head 😅 or the blueish hues of the Sony that make me think that Sony has almost no noise (with ofc low iso). When I look at tests on dpreview comparison tool, noise is more or less the same, so the only thing that I'm interested is how sharp or how good the "gradient" looks. This is more or less the perfect camera for me but having more noise compared to a6400 on low levels of iso would kill me. Most of those samples were taken with film simulations which are probably stimulating noise so it could look like retro films. Hope I can your opinion on it 🙂

@@NolanGunn Not yet - We are in Covid Lockdown here, so can't leave the house and ALL shops are closed. I really want to have a good look at camera, in a shop, where I can see them side-by-side. However, it is looking more likely that I will by the G85. I keep seeing things that look good on paper, but each thing turns into a 'rabbit-hole'. It seems the G85 is still the best camera on the market for video. Other cameras in the G series, mostly get bigger and way more expensive without delivering any real gains. Under consideration at the moment is the EM5 mk3 - due to being slightly smaller and lighter, slightly better resolution, slightly better stabilisation, slightly better (possibly useable) autofocus. However, the 1080 doesn't seem quite as good as the G85s, and the sound isn't as good - AND generally it is quite a bit more expensive, so I'd only buy one on sale. Any thoughts on the Olympus vs G85? Any other suggestions of cameras I could consider that offer everything the G85 does in a smaller package. Sorry, that was a long response. Thanks for taking the time. REGARDS, Campbell

@@actstuntcam Are you in Australia? I've heard it's nuts there. Olympus is definitely a great option especially if you want to do some hybrid photo video. @@NolanGunn I'm in New Zealand. Will check out the GX85. I think I abandoned the idea of the Olympus (But can't remember why - I think it is because it doesn't compensate for exposure in video..., the high price, and apparently breaks all the video files into 2 minute clips, which sounds like a hassle to edit). I checked the GX out... but I'd already looked at that - too many deal breakers - no flip screen, no mike jack, so not really an upgrade from my TZ80. GX9 is the same. Good thought though. It could have been ideal. You can see why they didn't put the flip screen or mike jack on it, it would be too good and would destroy everything on the market - can't have that :(

@@aniketsuryawanshi8612 1080 footage is gorgeous! I don't use FLOG as the 8 bit makes grading a bit of a pain and skin tones aren't great. I shoot in Eterna. I'll do a picture profile video soon!

All the B-Roll of the XS10 was the Panasonic G85 and the talking head was XS-10.
