Northern LBL Gravel Route and Ride Video

Join us as Joe Snyder, AKA "Gravel Sasquatch" ( / gravelsasquatch ) leads on a northern Land Between the Lakes gravel route which includes stops at several points of interest, including Hotel California, Ramey Overlook, and Homer's Garage. This route is just over 42 miles long and we estimate that it is about 75% gravel.

I've got a few acres there just off of New Concorde. Planning on building a Zome there later this year and into next year.

thank you for the great vids and the excellent routes and suggestions. you are a huge resource for those who want to explore these great places scattered across our country. do you have a road ride for the LBL. My wife would prefer to stay off the gravel.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorry to say that I do not have a road route to be able to offer you for LBL. I will offer that the easternmost 2-3 miles of the Central Hardwoods Trail is paved and there is paved multiuse trail that extends east of LBL, to the east, I think all the way to Cadiz. The Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway also runs through the entirety of LBL from North to South. And many of the forest roads in LBL that start with the number 1 are paved. Hope that helps!

Love your videos and would love to come over and do that ride sometime. Just wondering how often you do this particular ride? I would love to come over and tagalong sometime, possibly can bring a couple others. We are over here in the Sikeston Missouri area.

Thanks for the kudos on the videos. I live in central KY and only get down there maybe once a year. Part of the work of the Kentucky Cycling project is to curate and share routes so that people can get out there. and do this on their own. So, I don't if or when we'll be reriding this route. And we don't typically host group rides. All that being said, Joe Snyder (AKA Gravel Sasquatch) rides out here throughout the year and does host informal group rides. So, if you are interested in joining an LBL Gravel group ride, be sure to either follow him on Instagram or facebook.

Hey... Enjoeyed your Gravel Video.... I guess i must purchase a Gravel Bike ... Can This be DONE on a Mountain BIG TYRE Bike ??....Any more Road Riding ??? SEEEEE yiu Nathan

Yes, this can be done on a mountain bike. Hard tail MTBs are extremely versatile and would work well for this kind of riding. Fat tire MTBs would work, but you'd have more rolling resistance. And yes, we'll be doing more road riding as well as mountain biking as we love all forms of cycling. ;-)

Is it possible to ride the north and south LBL routes on a road bike with 33 mm cross tires?

Possible? Of course. Ideal? Not so much. I think the thinnest tire that anyone in our group had was about 38 mm and the rider was pretty thin. Most had 40+ mm.
