Nice route, and what's also very attractive about Northumberland is that it's practically empty - not something you can say about many parts of Scotland these days.

Friday evening too - I saw a couple of walkers but that's it. Good point.

Yorkshire dales to Scottish Borders, County Durham, Cumbria all very empty. Lots of places to stop wild camping and if you avoid the serious north south Roman roads and east west ones too you’re laughing for safe riding.

Good to see you back in our favourite local Northumbrian territory. PS also sure heard your voice on local TV when they were commemorating 40 yrs of the miners strike and playing old archived material.

Another grand video and one of my most favourite spots in Northumberland. Love Simonside. Really enjoy all your content. I've also finally worked out, I think, why I recognised your voice as much. I have a feeling you might have worked with my dad at BBC Newcastle. (Apologies if wrong 😂)

Yes I worked at Radio Newcastle and BBC TV North East - although it seems like another life. Who is your Dad?

From Downunder … lovely view of Northumberland hills and so on. Thank you. As a migrant, memories! Just completed the northern half of the Mawson Track in South Australia. If you want to see open spaces and sooo few people, the video is on YT, Ian C Crook. Bring a mountain bike!

Love that area we did the Sandstone Way south to North a few weeks ago and I was really struck by how empty it feels, and there is so much to explore on the bike or on foot. There is so much history in the borders that was more like a war zone back in the day.

That would be a nice ride to combine with some stuff at Kielder then over to Bamburgh and Lindisfarne. Can you stop overnight at that carpark? Mind you after your stories Duergar I’d maybe not sleep🤣

Hi Simon, I live just outside of Linton and do that route quite a bit. I usually do the decent from the moor on a hardtail. How did you find it ?
@alwaysanotheradventure
@alwaysanotheradventure 3 ай бұрын
It was a great descent- best bit. Helped to have chunky tyres and a flexible carbon frame. I only ever did this as a walk when I lived around here and didn’t know that descent.
