Now THAT'S What I Call a Suppressor Mount!

The "Plan B" taper mount is originally a Q design, but thanks to companies like Rearden, Liberty Precision Machine, and others it has become one of the most well supported suppressor mount interfaces on the market. The upshot is a huge variety of Plan B compatible suppressor adapters and muzzle devices. Plus also as a cool bonus it just works!

2:41 According to my "suppressor guy," Griffin's taper mount came out before Q's Plan B, but didn't get the name "Plan A" until later, probably as a reference to Plan B.

I just got an OCL Polonium K and I'm using Rearden mounts and when i unthread the suppressor the hub mount tends to stick to the muzzle device and unthread itself from the suppressor. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Kinda makes me nervous. Should I add a small dab of rocksett to the hub mount?

@@benjaminfish7602 Alright. Prior to my approval I only had access to the can at an indoor range so I was pretty limited on what I could do. Probably the torque alone will take care of this issue. I noticed in the box they have a little vice block to put the suppressor in a vice(I assume) and I gots me a good torque wrench and some high temp thread locker.

I have the Atlas on my main suppressor but I'm thinking about picking up the Revival Defense titanium adapter for my other can. It's a little lower profile and has slots to use a castle nut wrench to tighten it down. I have a few Rearden muzzle devices but my favorite is the 3P15 from revival defense. I think a good word for this situation that describes the oppose of neutrally-timed when it comes to muzzle devices would be directionally-timed or specifically-timed.
@ChristopherGoydich-cb6bd
@ChristopherGoydich-cb6bd 3 ай бұрын
Neutrally timed doesn’t even make any sense. It’s either timed (directional porting) or un-timed (omnidirectional or equal porting). 3 prong and 4 prong flash hiders are either self-timing (self-torquing) or designed to just bottom out with the tines in any position. Likewise with A1 style birdcages which have omnidirectional porting. Neutrally ported means the ports aren’t canted left or right. The ports can also be left-biased or right-biased to correct for muzzle drift. It’s entirely separate from the type of muzzle device. You can’t neutrally time a flash hider or brake which is omnidirectional, because it can’t be timed in the first place.

I'm new to being a suppressor owner, and the one can I have came with an Atlas and a SPB from Rearden. So far it's worked very well, the can gets moved between 3 rifles. One has the SPB the other two the short 3 prong flash hider from Rearden. Has always gone on easy and stayed in place through transport and firing. Plan B seems to be a very reasonably priced system too, which makes it nice to outfit multiple rifles for suppressor mobility.

I bought a few Xeno muzzle devices because it's tapered / left hand thread. But it looks like Plan B has sort of been anointed as the taper mounting system of the people? You go over several companies in the video, and here's one more: Forward Controls Design. They make a A2-style closed-bottom flash hider for Xeno, but looks like they have started making the same thing for the Plan B system as well now. And it looks like Forward Controls Design loves working with a company called Revival Defense, which is another company that makes Plan B compatible mounts. So yeah at least for me it seems like Plan B has more support than other taper systems such as Xeno or sRx etc.

Good video. Have a bunch of Q and Rearden stuff. A few notes: uncoated golden color maintains better tolerances than PVD. That may or may not matter to your use case. The point about using a thread protector if you are going to bash things around is valid. As to the Cherry Bomb - it was designed to be extremely light, with at 1.6 oz, it is. As opposed to most muzzle devices for cans, which are around 4 oz. This (weight savings) is also why they didn’t put wrench flats on it, which if you don’t use a tapered muzzle, can be an issue with the mount getting stuck in the can. I have never had that problem because I put enough Rocksett on it. Hint hint. Having said all that, I prefer the Rearden R2 for carbines/SBRs. The CB I use on SPR and bolt guns.

The LP pin and weld is actually really useful for specific builds. On my 14.5, I needed the length of a longer muzzle device to get past SBR, however, I have DA cans that require shallow muzzle length (sacrificial baffle) when running a rearden atlas . I could have solved this issue by putting the rearden xl on my can, but I wanted the slim version to get the shortest overall length when I run it on other guns - especially my SBR. The LP pin and weld is EXACTLY what I needed!

TAPS is designed to be used as part of a system including hydration pack and plate carrier. The ability to use it as a standalone system is a secondary capability. That being said, if you adjust it properly (and don't add anything on the front) it's not too bad. I run 7 AR magazines, an IFAK 2 on the far left, and a radio pouch and tourniquet pouch on the far right, and it's as comfortable as you could expect from a secondary LBV.

Installed a Rearden single baffle brake on my 1894 lever gun in 44mag and had it pinned/welded to 16". Running it with a TiRant 45S can with a Plan B adapter - this combination NEEDS to be torqued together correctly or it will loosen due to a slight design oversight by Q... but that's another story. To put things in perspective, within 100 rounds of some blazing-hot handloads, the following had loosened - every single receiver screw, the takedown screw, the front sight screws, the mag tube stud (dovetailed to barrel), the mag tube stud screw, the handguard tip tenon (dovetailed and STAKED to barrel), and the handguard itself, which ended up wobbling 1" side-to-side due to the loose tip tenon. The only thing that didn't shoot itself loose was the Plan B adapter to the Rearden brake. Good shit.

I've been using the Rearden atlas since 2022, maybe even 2021. I absolutely love the system. I replaced my former Dead air stuff with all Rearden. However, going forward, i'm going to go witht he Wolfpack version, because i love how low profile it is. I use a SPB anyways, so it doesn't matter for my clearance.

Very similar mount system to BK Precise suppressors from Poland. I've been using their DEAF45 cans for 2 years now, good stuff at reasonable prices. Best thing - no need to adjust the gas system.

Seems similar to the Dead Air Xeno but right hand threaded. I really like the Zeno for repeatability and the left hand threads ensure the can gets tighter with shooting.

I'm hoping the advent of non-suppressor Plan B muzzle accessories is drawing near. Thread protection is a big bonus but something like a cheap flash can should've been available already.

I know this is wildly off-topic but I would be extremely interested to hear what Hop would have to say about attempting to mount a primary arms microprism in a pseudo-magnifier capacity or as an offset optic altogether. I have seen a few people running with a red dot primarily and utilizing either setup for the less frequent shots that might occur at long range, this is primarily coming from the competition shooting scene. It seems like a solid idea as the red dot is the primary optic and if ranging is needed the prism optic offers holds and ranging solutions on the fly, while retaining the red dot in a familiar and ergonomic position; particularly suited for use with NV. It seems like an interesting premise and even more feasible with the continuous shrinking of the prism-style optics.

Would love to see you do a video on the Griffin Armament GATE-LOK attachment system that are on their M4SD series of suppressors. They attach straight onto A2 flash hiders and people have had luck with them on pin and weld rifles with extended A2 flash hiders like BCM's A2X (provided they were installed properly with shims or at the very least weren't installed on overly crooked crush washers). It's a damn good system that saves you tons of money by not purchasing several hundred dollars' worth of proprietary mounts and hub adapters for every rifle you own.
@ChristopherGoydich-cb6bd
@ChristopherGoydich-cb6bd 3 ай бұрын
It works well but leaks a lot of gas since there’s no tapered surface and it has to be slightly oversize to accommodate manufacturing tolerances between the large number of A2 muzzle devices. The rotex NATO system has a ratchet which helps to seal the backend somewhat. The Gemtech HALO style of collar mount for A2 muzzle devices also seals up better but it’s heavier and longer and requires more clearance behind the muzzle device. There are pros and cons to every mounting system, some have fewer compromises than others.

Hop that rifle at 5:30 looks suspiciously like my first AR build -- DD M4V4 with the Leupold HAMR. Pretty certain yours isn't the same rifle, the DD didn't come with (what looks to be at least on yours) an adjustable gas block and the rail is slightly different but appears to be the same style 9" quad pic rail.

Pretty sure the muzzle devices from Wolf Pack Armory are made by Rearden. They have a separate adjoining machine shop next to their primary shop with a different LLC on the door here in the Dallas area. Also not a fan of the heat treat color on the Plan B or Atlas but the heat treat on the muzzle device looks kind of cool when the front half is covered in carbon and the back is clean.

Would be very surprised if that’s the case. Wolfpack has extremely shotty QC, have had 2 bad adapters from them, multiple bad parts received by friends. I gave up on them and just bought a rearden and haven’t looked back.
