Team Hoot Pole Vault Yeah, at least I have high school years and hopefully college! I just feel bad for my brother because he is a senior and the college he is going to doesn’t offer a male track team so he may barely ever get to vault again.

i let go of my pole the other day and it was all the way in its c shape while i went to vault but i messed up the vault and let go... lets just say lesson learned. the pole shot right back up and smacked my back super hard which caused some bruising and soreness but it is definitely a good idea to keep the pole in your hand

I think as you get more experienced, you learn when to and not to let go of the pole. Sometimes sliding or climbing down the pole instead.

Where to purchase light weight pole vault track shoes? I had Kangaroo hide track shoes in High School 1963 season when I vaulted 12' 4" using a rigid fiberglass pole 180 lb test with the old steel or aluminum pole hands slide together at plant.

Hey there! just asking what do you do if I jump on a smaller pole and bend it so much that i have to get on a bigger weighted pole and taller pole but the bigger pole flung me backwards, what do i do?
@TeamHootPoleVault
@TeamHootPoleVault Жыл бұрын
Sounds like the pole jump was a little too big. Step 1 is renting a pole if you can. Step 2 is maybe take a left out of your run and stay on that smaller pole and learn how to add more energy! Good things will happen!

A friend / teammate had a rough experience at a meet back in the day. Just as he was swinging up, his hand slipped off at full bend. (It had started sprinkling, & things were getting a bit wet). Post-crash, he had a huge bruised welt that went from mid thigh, crossed a nut, through his bread basket, then shoulder. You actually heard his wind get knocked out from the pole hitting him. There wasn't anything left to knock out, including consciousness, when he landed flat on his back. Just the sound of the pole hitting was pretty impressive to say the least. Oh yeah, the point of impact for the landing was at 6' in front of the box. It became known as getting "racked, jacked, and blacked"! lol (Racked for the nut shot. Jacked for the TKO. And blacked for the color the welt eventually turned into). He survived, and I'm still laffin'.

So today made the dumb decision of letting go thinking i was over the Matt but fell to the plant box, did the splits :-/ considering this is the second time I've fell to the plant box (my errors) are there any recommended/safe ways to fall to the plant box? Like feet position?
@TeamHootPoleVault

Keep practicing! Creating a new habit takes time. You're finding you can do it 1/10 but soon it will be 2/10 then 3, 4 ,5 etc before you know it, it will be hard to plant late!

What is your thought process before the jump. When I was in high school, I hoped I would make it, about my 3rd year in college I knew I would make it. Working hard, practicing smart, doing the small things correctly, that should give you confidence, and you are no where without confidence.

I have a mental block when trying to go to a bigger pole. What can I do to fix my confidence?
@TeamHootPoleVault
@TeamHootPoleVault 7 жыл бұрын
Mental blocks are hard and 9/10 its because you're progressing too quick. One idea is to stay on the smaller pole but take a left out of your run. That why when you get good at the short run on the pole you can go back a left and that big pole wont seem so big
