Today’s program features an interview with my good friend, Dr. Terry Wahls. Dr. Wahls is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa and a staff physician at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Hospital, where she teaches medical students and resident physicians, sees patients in traumatic brain injury and therapeutic lifestyle clinics (who often present with complex chronic health problems that include multiple autoimmune disorders), and conducts clinical trials.
She is also a patient with a chronic progressive neurological disorder, secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years. But through her nonstop efforts to learn about the underlying biochemical events that characterize this and so many other neurodegenerative conditions, Dr. Wahls restored her health and now pedals her bike five miles to work each day.
Dr. Wahls has written several books, and today we will be discussing her latest work, The Wahls Protocol. This book summarizes her use of intensive nutrition to recover from her secondary progressive multiple sclerosis.
She shows how to eat for health, and the actions we need to take to ensure our mitochondria and brain cells have all the building blocks necessary to truly thrive.
Pay close attention as there is so much empowering information in today’s program!

She’s a legend. Have followed her for many years and try to pass on her protocol and advised many people to get her books. Keep going Dr Wahls from South Wales UK. Will follow you forever. Feel much better for following her protocol. A book everyone should get.❤

Love Dr .Meyers AND one aspect I wish they’d point out is the reason she might have an allergy to eggs is she ate eggs from factory farmed chickens. Not good. .

Think about a deep look into Iron dysregulation, high ferritin, low values of ceruloplasmin, magnesium, copper, potassium and others and how these affect autoimmune systems.

My question is kind of "out there" as of now, but let me ask this rhetorical question. We see that people can reverse or halt chronic conditions with this diet. I am wondering about those on dialysis. Can healing and recovery be significant enough that the kidneys start working again? If not, why? One has to ask, right? Thank you.

the last comment made be believe that she has plagiarized much of her info, I am talking about Dr. Swank and his discoveries. This woman is taking way too much credit and she is up to discredit or lower the importance of Swank diet protocol!

I think that her eating meat goes totally against his diet. She eats a very large amount of non starchy vegetables. He focussed on lowering fat intake. She has mentioned reading about his work and why she didn't give up meat - sorry I can't remember where I saw that video. She took his diet to a totally new direction. There are people who follow his diet and are very happy with it.

This is NOT a new protocol. She is simply following the most successful treatment for M.S. ...Which is the "Swank diet". Although she is consuming some Organ meats, There isn't much room for anything else after you have consumed 9+ cups of fruits and vegetables in a day! (I'm a Male vegan and only consume 4-6 cups per day.) So It well may be she has improved "In Spite of" the organ meats she has included in her diet.

I am trying to follow your reccommendations but I live in a nursing home and I am parlyzed below the neck and single armed I have to just obey the staff here. I am a Mechanik and mech engineer and I have found a method for both gasoline and diesel engines to be emition free. But nobody believes me. She is already biased with the paleo diet because of her own experience with the disease, giving probably no credit to other probably "therapeutic" diets like a whole foods plant based diet (healthy vegan or mostly vegan diet), and this way promoting meat consumption. So people could believe that high consumption of animal derived foods are healthy for the general population when many prospective trials are saying the opposite. I hoppe that she will be objective with the results of her trial: Swank vs Whals protocol. (ref: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2989112/ )
