Horse meat is very healthy, but in many countries eating it is considered taboo. The biggest problem about adding horse meat in your product without mentioning is the price. It's much cheaper than beef or pork, so basically they make you pay more by falsely advertising it as a different type of meat.
@Vyperus69
@Vyperus69 Ай бұрын
the controversy wasn't just over the meat itself, but over the manufacturers and stores not saying it was horse meat. It fell under both false advertisement and a taboo like rejection over horse meat the UK has always had.

Either false advertising or something went extremely wrong in the supply chain. Like if quality control can't even ensure they're selling the right kind of meat, there's an entire host of other issues that could have slipped past the radar which could have actually caused harm.

@danieljacobs446
@danieljacobs446 Ай бұрын
@VolfKami Yeah, for a less extreme example, I was a cashier at Home Depot and the management told us to use a counterfeit pen to make sure all 100 dollar bills were real but company policy said not to try too hard to stop people paying with counterfeit bills (they're insured for that). The head cashier got mad that I let someone pay for a tool worth hundreds of dollars with obviously counterfeit bills even though that was the policy.
@BalloCrew
@BalloCrew Ай бұрын
@@danieljacobs446 seems like a doomed if you do, doomed if you don't situation. policy is written to get you in trouble with higher ups who deem it necessary. IE following this policy and letting people use counterfeit money, could also be seen as negligent(in the case of the head cashier getting mad). I'm curious, were you in serious trouble for it? even after mentioning it was policy?
@danieljacobs446
@danieljacobs446 Ай бұрын
@BalloCrew Nothing really happened beyond getting an earful from the head cashier. It wasn't ever reported upward to the manager or assistant managers, at least as far as I heard. The policy obviously exists since as I said big stores like Home Depot are insured against small amounts of theft, but they are not insured against a thief pulling a weapon on an employee, which is likely to cost them a lot more. It was just a lot of financial loss for a single day and the head cashier would likely get more blame for it happening during their shift.

However, it was mostly loved by those who bought all of the pink sharpies. Some of the features were ones that made some of the other large barreled, medium flow pens that sold well to women, except being pink their male coworkers wouldn't steal them.

People don't like things being different in general. Like Deer meat, some uppity folks will think you must be some kind of Hillbilly for eating Deer, or Rabbit. There's also the jone of sending horses to a glue factory, to imply their meat isn't very good and probably better off as Dog Food, or Taco Bell. Personally, I never had Horse or Rabbit, but I mean, cook it up right and I'll try it. Deer is pretty good.
