Thank you for watching this game twice, The under 17 boys winning the tournament their first time in it was a ray of sunshine after a pretty bad start to the long weekend.

Cheers mate. It was hard to force myself to do it, but glad I did. It wasn’t as bad as it seemed live. Some 50/50 calls really cost us momentum

Spot on analysis, I agree 100%. Our game plan is hard to pull off which is why only teams like Penrith can pull it off consistently.

Yeah it’s tough, but it works if you actually get it right. Seems Webby is fully committed to it so best we get used to the ups and downs until we master it.

Hard to watch a loss the watch a review on said loss, still great mahi bro, take the good with the bad. The boyz will bounce back, our depth is being tested, but didn't think we'd have a form slump on top of that.

I reckon SJ should have a few weeks at least to recover were stacked for halves. Webby should see how Farr we’ll go with sj on ice 😏

Cheers mate, was a good one with the whanau. Would be very interesting to see who they played at 7 if SJ couldn’t play this week. Probably put TMM at 7 and bring in either Farr or Hansen. I’d go Farr myself

Good to see you back holic I’ve been checking a few times a day for your podcast and getting bit worried when you weren’t there. It was certainly a hard watch and the levels of frustration became extremely high, I had a sneaky suspicion that this was a possibility and sort of said that in the comments last week. I reckon when DWZ jammed in and they scored their first try was the turning point of the game, he’s doing that a lot and has to get it out of his game ASAP. I’m definitely no expert but I’d like to see a much faster and expansive game plan tried and not be so predictable. I’m worried that if we can’t speed everything up and get the defensive back on track the top teams could put a lot of points on us. Another thing I not a fan of is the games early in the draw it stuffs up the weekend a bit if we lose.🫣 keep up the great work and we’ll all hang in there for sure.👍🏻

i don't understand it when hes got a good defensive center like Rocco on the inside and he even does it when Rocco is in position. And teams know it and are exposing it spinning it wide from the 50 or 40 meter line.

I like our game plan when it works, but we need to be able to adapt in games when it doesn’t work. We need to be able to be more expansive when it’s needed. Not a fan of these fighting for a try to win in the last 5mins

I tend to agree bro, our D on the outside has been poor. I know some say it’s early days but sometimes the odd change can click and it keeps the guys honest. I understand it’s not one player that’s our problem but the up side to a change can be an opportunity for someone new like Ali Leautaua or Setu. It’s probably better now than later.

Montoya probably could do with a rest, Hes played every game? Seems mean to pick on him but if you want to move one of the 4 out it would probably be him.

I like that you mentioned Setu, he’s one of the most consistent guys in the club. I hope he gets a shot sometime

Pretty much agree again bro.Frustrating game where again for long periods we looked tired which given it is only rnd 8 is a massive worry going forward. Looked like we might steal it at the end but we can't rely on last minute wins as it really gets down to 50/50 chances / ref calls /bounce of the ball etc. Listening to Hasler's presso he sort of let it slip hinting they had our repetitive game plan worked out which is something I have been concerned about. I agree bro we need to vary things up just to keep oppositions guessing a bit as at present they seem to know almost exactly what we are going to throw up. RTS just doesn't look a happy center to me even though his running stats etc may say different he isn't setting up Montoya or connecting with TMM/CNK very well at all.I would love Ale Leiataua into center and RTS to wing. TMM is no where near direct enough he needs to improve or CHT should be back in once over his injury.SJ's injury is hampering him he is not going into the line much at all like last season but is still vital for any success right now.I really think we are missing Metcalf's energy and X factor that worries oppositions more than most realize. Some are saying our season is over which is ridiculous but we do have some serious wobbles which need fixing ASAP or we will be too far behind in comp points. Watched a tough Knights side win over Dolphins and they will take some beating especially at home.The FB replacing Ponga has elusive speed to burn and looked a genuine first grader so anyone thinking without Ponga Knights will roll over are in for a surprise.

Yeah hard to argue with any of your point mate. Did Dez go into detail about what they had worked out? I’m not sure that’s why we lost. We showed in the first 15 what we can do against a team who thought they knew our plan. In the second last 15 we didn’t have any shape at all. I think it’s more we’re not executing rather than teams figuring us out… agree we need to really turn it around, Knights might be without Jacob Saifiti, Marzhew and Cartwright which would be a bonus

@@thewarriorholic No it was just a very short passing remark by Des which I think he probably didn't mean to say. Maybe your right and it is execution rather than oppositions knowing what is coming but to me it looks like they know how to combat our repetitive attack..No need to change ships but some variations(even slight ones) are required . Titans started poorly they looked uncommitted / disorganized for the first 20 minutes which helped us look good but they certainly turned that around. One thing is a lot of WAHS fans are saying is Penrith have a grinding type style/plan and stick to it no matter what so we should do the same but watching them play of late they move the ball with speed and variations then attack from anywhere. Fred the "needle" a great AB coach decades ago maintained the speed of the ball beats the speed of the man which Panthers are doing.Their style evolves slightly as time and players pass which perhaps is something Webby needs to take on board. This "we will do what worked for us last year only do it better" sounds very much like Payten at the beginning of 2023.

thanks so much for your clear analysis. it was a challenge. i liked the fight back but i would like someone to help dallin know how to better cover his edge, it seems to me he drifts in too much. i think fatigue and SJ not training with the team to help cement plays etc. is costing us. i also hope that the boys are not getting complacent after scoring first. i almost want the opposition to score first so as to kick us into action. but i could be all wrong ;) congrats to the harold matthews team well done!

Thank you for the review bro, that would have been a hard watch for you. Brimson and Fifita are a handful for all teams SJs injury is affecting the timing on attack and his D Our injuries is having a negative impact with main players having little rest Looking forward to this weeks game 🙂

Very frustrating indeed. We had enough momentum at the end of the game to win it as the Titans were out on their feet. Amazing that we couldn’t ice it. We don’t use the ball well close to the opposition line. Very clunky and predictable at times. End up having to just put up the bomb for DWZ. The DWZ moment was just madness. Makes no sense for him to move off the man he is marking. He does this a lot. A great player nevertheless. We need some more spark. I’d move RTS to wing. Ali to center and drop Montoya. Even if we give away penalties we should be able to defend it. Our tackling was really poor. I thought Zyon was probably the only highlight in addition to Berry’s try. Had a feeling it wasn’t going to be our day when the RTS try was called back.

Your comments definitely reflect the feeling across all my platforms. It’s frustrating because I don’t want Webby to come out publicly and explain the logic behind what they are really trying to do because our competition doesn’t need to know… but damn I’d love to have the chance to observed what goes on behind closed doors to really understand what the short mid and long term goals are.

@@thewarriorholic They will definitely need a good win against the Knights to get things back on track otherwise it could be a hard road back. RTS isn't really playing like a center as a center should ideally be looking to feed the outside men more by drawing attackers in by running hard and straight and passing. He gets caught with the ball a lot by doing solo, swerving runs. Montoya and DWZ don't seem to be getting the ball much recently in attacking raids down the edges. I guess he's still a work in progress.

@@nigelc.7818 yeah RTS is running 90% of his recepts, half of that is because we aren’t setting up to run shape on the left. It’s always coming to him when we have no space to work with so he just hits it up.

Tbh I'm very concerned about our 5th and last options is so predictable kicking to the right corner and make the opposition work there way out to hopefully make them force an error....we really need to use other options for example Walker from the Roosters had that ball on a string he was mixing it up and was awesome 👌🏽 I mean We can have this convo until the cows come home because there where lots of things we need to work on ...our defense is shocking at most times our discipline is also shocking not to mention out errors 😳 and yes we are playing the same plays coaches and teams can obviously see what us as fans see warriors are so predictable ...like how many times did SJ7 kick on the last to the right wing and our multitude of repeat sets which I felt that the WARRIORS just simply run out of ideas or panicked for that matter 🤔 like to put up that performance against a side that were on 7 straight losses and we had to be the team to hand them thier first win 🤦‍♂️how are we going to put up a full performance when we face top teams in PANTHERS, Bronx,Roosters just to name a few ....we now have ro face knights which will be a mountain to climb for the team...is it me or are the boys fatigued ....sorry just watching Cowboys vs Panthers and that was fast pace ...I don't even know the warriors got the energy to match 😴 but once we get our troops back from injuries and the rest of the season to play maybe we will see better performances and results...UPDAWAHS 💯WFFW 💙

Some really good points there. Agree we have to find a way to take it up 2-3 gears before we get to the Roosters and Panthers in a couple of weeks. Scary to think what could happen if we don’t fire up
