Egan needs to seriously change his tackle technique the head knocks he’s getting are in a way self inflicted he gets secure and safe in that then we’ll get more confidence in him staying on the field long term. He’s had a lot of head knocks and has been able to come back on the field but the ones where he’s been knocked out have been knocks that would knock any other player out but again I say the fact he says so straight on and stays so upright on straight running big man doesn’t help him. In regards to the kicking game or lack of kicking from our hookers it’s 100% a coaching game plan we’ve shown just how SJ/ halves centric we are with the kicking game it’s no surprise we haven’t seen any of our hookers kick this year. I was keen on Lussick to be that deputy to Egan but seeing Paulie Roache has made me change my mind here. Roaches delivery of the pass is far superior to Lussicks in the dolphins game you can tell Lussick isn’t able to pass straight from the ground he has to pick it up and have that extra second to deliver it and his accuracy just isn’t consistent enough. Where as Egan and Roache are more often than not on the mark and have quick bullet like service and can deliver that all from the ground.
@thewarriorholic2 күн бұрын
I’d love to hear the logic on the kicking. Having a hooker capable of kicking a 40/20 is a great asset. I don’t get why you wouldn’t want it in your arsenal

Great series bro. We all have our ideas and biases etc but very interesting to hear others views. Huge kudos to the gutsy guys who have won the last two games as without those wins our final chances would be very slim. Roache certainly looks the part and is fan flavor of the month after just one good NRL game which is typical for Warrior fans.Lets see how he goes when our forwards are not on the front foot and big opposition forwards are dominating through the middle.Maybe he will be great but who knows till the heat really hits. Many say Lussick can't ball play.They are obviously blind to him drawing two defenders putting DWZ into the gap with a great short ball for a crucial try against Dolphins however he is on the outer with fans but Webster may have other ideas as every club needs a tough Lussick type even if just as a backup insurance for the grind of long NRL seasons. I know it is not a popular view but Egan is too injury prone for me.Why his tackling style is still leading to serious basically self inflicted concussions really is inexplicable. Given clinical experts claim after 10 knock out's further concussions will mean brain damage is practically a certainty Egan's time may be closing in .Data from boxing and general knowledge from fighters tells us after every knockout the next one comes far easier.It is interesting and slightly concerning hearing Webster say it is not a problem as the concussions are far apart as he sounds a coach making excuses to keep a vital player on the field. Egan also has no kicking game but given Lussick doesn't use his kicking game in first grade maybe it is a coaching / game plan thing ( hopefully not).It is frustrating watching other clubs dummy halfs peel off a 40/20 or try assist from kicks knowing we don't use that craft at all. No matter who is our long term choice one thing for sure they need a kicking game as kicking dummy halfs are game changers who take pressure off their halfs which we see almost weekly in NRL games.

Yeah I’m in no position to make the call for someone else, but if he were my son I’d be telling him it’s time to step away… life’s more important than footy. My mate who played Super Footy for the Canes told his son to call it quits after way less knocks, even though he could have been a gun like his dad. But at the end of the day, it’s each to their own eh. CNK is another one who concerns me… love that they are their for our entertainment but would never wish that on them eh
@jackohere18782 күн бұрын
@@thewarriorholic Watching docos on the likes of Carl Haymen has changed my view of concussions big time but I have no idea on what can be done. Imagine the uproar and effects on the code if like boxing a knockout meant 3 months off with no physical contact at training as well. I now feel slightly sick remembering seeing Dean Lonergan knocked out actually convulsing to the point of having a seizure in a Test match only to get up and after a brief stint off the field play on to help Kiwi's to a great victory in what was a brutal match.. At the time I applauded his toughness but now know it was utterly dangerous stupidity.

We are quite well served for props right now just depends on your preference.Plenty of young props coming through but they need time to develop as NRL middles is no place for anyone not quite ready.Ale is really developing nicely and is looking a longterm player for us. Totally agree about young Crosby - he needs to be locked in long term ASAP.He has only just switched from Union (btw same as Berry he hails from the Wai/Bush Greytown not the Hutt Valley) but in 3 or 4 years time (maybe less) he will be an absolute beast capable of dominating in the NRL.Likes of the Storm will already be in his managers ear. I think the arrival of JFH with his game built on toughness and directness rather than flashy ball skills/stepping etc will really help developing our young props.He seems the type of leader who will actually enjoy spending time helping youngsters improve their games especially types like Maiu'u and Crosby.

Right now the more explosive speedy Metcalf is our best 6 with CHT a close second. Metcalf wants halfback spot but he will have to wait for SJ to retire to have any chance. TMM has shown he is better at halfback and obviously will be in the mix when SJ retires.My only concern is TMM has no long kicking game out of trouble.In saying that I think Webster will start TMM at five eight against Cows. Hansen and Cleary are obviously very promising but they need at least a season or two in Cup footie to show they are up to a shot in first grade.

Webster is faced with hard choices with outside backs. Montoya has come back playing so exceptionally well he must hold his spot.I love his toughness and infectious energy. Going forward Kosi should be seriously tried at back row in NSW Cup for rest of season..He has the size and power to succeed there. What to do with RTS will be on Webster's mind a lot and I have no idea what he may do.Persisting with him at center where we have very good players is unnecessary but bringing RTS back through NSW Cup to show he is a better option at wing than Montoya would be a massive and controversial call (the Aussie journos would go mental) but absolutely the correct one.If he can play like he did at Chookies years ago swapping with the FB during games and display his obvious dangerous attacking skills he could force Montoya out I guess.
