from what I've seen of the Mieruko-chan anime, it's still pretty slice of life. A bit of a bigger plot develops, but it's mostly just Mieruko trying to live her life without reacting to the ghosts she sees. Yeah, I felt like September House dragged in the middle bc I wasn't the biggest fan of Margaret as a MC. It really made me think of the Shining, which isn't a huge compliment from me 😂

Ugh, I feel like I’m not that interested in Mieruko-Chan anymore. 😭 I might just read the volumes I have and give up. 😂 Margaret was an odd character, I didn’t absolutely love her like some MCs and she was frustrating a lot of times, so I get it!

Obviously, Japanese society and culture is very male centric and patriarchal, and it always has been even before they westernized This pertains to your summation of the ring by the way Your critique is probably spot on from your point of view. It is unfortunate that the female character in this book is treated the way that she is
@ErinMegan
@ErinMegan 9 ай бұрын
It definitely can be extremely patriarchal. I’ve read great Japanese horror/fiction that doesn’t do it to that extent though, so my expectations are definitely high.
