That snow the the reason compact tractors are so popular in Alaska. The ability to push the snow to the side of the road then come back with a snowblower attachment to toss it out into the woods means you will only be driving on 1-4 inches of snow at any given time and no fear of the snow banks building up. Getting stuck is a good reason to have some basic supplies in the car/truck at all times from a change of clothes to a way to start a fire even in the rain/snow.

I'd really recommend getting an amber cover, or a light bar that has amber LEDs as well. In snow, rain, fog, dust, etc, the white LEDS will hinder you as much as help. Whereas the amber will cut through a lot better. All of my light bars are amber or dual color (amber and white) for that reason. This is also why factory headlights are yellowish in color instead of pure white.

You ain’t joking! I was working from Fairbanks to Glenallen on the pipeline and my work truck is a 2015 Chevy 2500. The lights are just as terrible as your fords but luckily I had the same light bar you do which makes a HUGE difference. If you hit a moose that sucker is coming in the truck with you.

I was raised off the tetlin trail not too far away. Always wished for a snow plow. But a good 3 wheeler and a skidoo did just fine. We are building a new cabin ourselves. We have a power pole in the yard but are not hooked up. I love gas lights and 12 volt LED. I hate the cost of power in Tok. Such a ripoff. Stay warm. Great vids.

Unfortunately in Wyoming, light bars can't be used on main roads. I learned that the hard way when I got pulled over for having mine on. They are super useful though and do light up the world. My Dodge truck had awful stock lights too.

Also, that bouncing in the video when you are in the snow is called axle wrap. It's not good at all. It's your rear axle pivoting up instead of using that energy to turn your tires. I'd look into anti-wrap springs, or possibly traction bars (anti wrap bars). Axle wrap kills your u joints and shock loads your rear end (it's a strong axle but still). I'd look in to mitigating the axle wrap some way if this is a situation you will find yourself in often

Most people are changing out their stock headlight bulbs with bright white LEDs - saves power and gives a lot more light.

Brrr! I liked the video content, showing some perspective to living in AK in winter. Couple of things to comment on. Might do well to invest in a roof rake for snow removal off roofs, RVs etc. You done a good job but as you get older crawling all the way up on a roof poses more risks. The other things that struck me were the differential lock on the pickup and the light bar. The diff lock work really well? Being a Montana born guy I am distrustful of electronic controlled components in vehicles based on extreme cold conditions. The light bar contrast is amazing, I am going to have to look into them. Here in NY north country, whitetails (I call them swamp buggies) are definitely a night time hazard while driving. Lastly, I just love the music you folks put in......so fitting and relevant. Hitting a moose isn't like hitting a deer something a lot of people down here in the lower 48 wouldn't realize that they are bigger than Elk. On the 22 driving to Lawton OK someone hit a Elk. Between eagle river and anchorage they use to say on a sign how many moose had been hit for the year

Hey don't know if you will see this but I have the exact same truck a 2019 and 6 months after I had it I was coming home from bringing my daughter to sick kids hospital in Toronto Ontario and I live near Sudbury Ontario in Northern Ontario and we have lots of swamp donkeys on the road also and I came very close to hitting one off the biggest bulls I've ever seen like inches away I was waiting for the hit I threw my arm across my daughter to protect her and yes the lights on them trucks suck because I never seen him till he was write infront of me about 30 feet or so I hit the brakes so hard my back brakes locked up well what I was getting to is I love your light bar but I prefer them up high like top of the windshield or on the roof or on top of a back rack. I'm a transport driver and I see lots some nights up to 20 or more depending on how much snow there is and I find that putting light down low is the snow banks block the light and you don't see them till they get over the snow bank and with the lights up high you see up to the tree line. I hope this help you out sorry for the long story but I hit a moose with my transport at around 85km hour and it ended up in the windshield since then I have lights that light up the road 👍

Ok Im telling on myself but my husband laughed at me. Im watching the video of you guys driving and Im sitting all "puckered & clinched" unable to focus on the scenery because you sped up the video and all I can do is watch how fast it looks like your driving on the slick, snow covered roads and my heart is creeping up my throat as Im death gripping my desk chair. My husband busts up laughing walking in seeing me in a near panic attack with my eyes closed waiting for him to tell me when its over. LOL Happy New Year Guys!
