@@kaikiriya2761 He's pretty fucked up in the head on the Greed If route as well, which is another route where Subaru abuses Return By Death. It does have spoilers though, so I wouldn't suggest reading it now unless you're comfortable with that.

We dont really know if it is his power or not. He is obviously using the Authority of Envy but we dont know if he has it himself or if the Witch is using it on him. Spoilers for Arc 4 Also I am pretty sure that Authorities can exist in more than one person. Because the other witches are still able to use there Authorities even after they died and the Authority passed on to the Sin Archbishops.

@Slim Shady Can they be made into ova or they are long story too? I want to know cause I want if story ovas since whereever I see someone saying "just use RBD", I just wanna punch them in face. They probably haven't given much focus to the story and are just watching without understanding much. People probably expect subaru to say "I'm used to much worse pain so this doesn't hurt anymore or I don't feel pain anymore" something like that? I'm planning to read LN after the anime season 2 if available though.

kaanami Even harming yourself badly to trigger an ability would be more than a good reason to not use it if you don't have to, but killing yourself? Plus Subaru is written in a very realistic way. For me it already is crazy that the story made him trigger this ability twice on purpose. (The cliff and when he stabbed himself) If it suddenly would be: "Oh, let's use RBD, I can't die anyway" it would mean that his character as a realistic human being would get completely lost

Oh yes indeed.. remind me of some of my HL saves where i ended up in the middle of a shootout with 1 hp I remember having some points where i died 50 times or more to get from one hiding spot to the next 3 feet away. Feel it's kinda amazing how i managed to get survive som events, but with enough saves almost anything is possible

It's like fighting an opponent in street fighter or king of fighters. You literally have "chip/1 health" which would die even if you blocked it. The enemy has TRIPLE HEALTH BARS and UNLIMITED TIME. All we can do is counter every single freaking move and beat him. That's what subaru would have to face if his respawn worked like that.

All the animes in isekai quartet are groundbreakers as isekai animes. Konosuba makes a joke about a perfect world, overlord is a nigh-omnipotent being entering a new world where he is lightyears ahead of everyone, re:zero has the rest loop, and well... the other one has a female lead, which slips me at the moment

The risk is there, for sure but in Season 2, it was found out that the Witch's "love" for Subaru isn't some weird obsession, it is something deeper than that as Satella herself stated that Subaru gave her everything, gave her light, hugged her, etc. So, if Satella is the one setting the Save-points than its nigh impossible for her to ever set a Save-point that traps Subaru in a constant death loop. The Witch only cares about Subaru's safety and that's probably the reason why the save-point was updated after Rem fell into the coma. Having read the novels, there hasn't been a single instance that this has happened (of course). Satella always sets the save point some time before Subaru's death. The closest a save-point has ever been to a Death point is 15 minutes.

No, not really. Return by Death doesn't work that way. Envy sets the save points, but how the ability is used or abused is Subaru's wish. I can't say more than this because that'll get into the territory of SPOILERS.

It's literally attached to his soul as a contract and triggered depending on his INTENT to reveal. Not what he does. INTENT. Also if someone finds out anyway in a way which Satella notices(like Roswaal himself deliberately not saying too much about Subaru recognising there's a powerful contract involved and Satella coming after Echidna messes around).
