The portability of this is quite astonishing. I've already seen someone port it to the Scanian War (in the 1670s), and I might just have to do two parallell collections now...

That's a part of what I like about it. I'm using the Spanish list for the Ottomans and using the invasion of Egypt and Syria as the setting. And using my Blood and Plunder for a Caribbean campaign. Also some Blood and Plunder and Muskets & Tomahawks for a Colonial Gothic setting. Other than the Ottomans I can use my existing collections.

I really like the rules for black powder guns; those of close combat that give a sense of duel; and finally all the anti-monster equipment, which gives me the same idea of careful preparation that the making of potions in the video games of The Witcher series gave me.

I'm actually painting up minis based on the real history behind Brotherhood of the Wolf - The Beast of Gevaudan. It's immediately after the Seven Years War and indeed involves a French "legion" that fought in the Seven Years War, the Volontaires de Clermont-Prince.

Good insight from the designer on the D20 to a D10 concepts. I like the mix up for the D10s. Plus I love plying Naps too...so painting up super-characters is a real treat for this game.

I love this skirmish game so much I started making a light hack out of the Flames of Freedom RPG so I can bring it over to my TTRPG shelf. Black Powder and Horror are like peanut butter and chocolate; I don't understand why there's not more of this combination in entertainment media of all sorts--from video games to movies, it's just such an inspired setting!

The Silver Bayonet seeems to provide a good sandbox/template for creating skirmish fantasy/horror games in the black musket era and has been released at a time when there are many plastic multi-part Napoloeonic & Fantasy figure sprues available for use in kit-bashing to create napoleonic fantasy/horror figures. Yes, Alternative Armies Flintloque range produced Napoleonic Fantasy years ago, but now with so many plastic ranges readily available , as well as 3d printing, there is so much available to to allow hobbyists to be creative about the setting and figures to use.

As a fan of Joe's previous work, I have been looking forward to this ever since it was hinted at on his blog. I think the use of the 2d10s is inventive, particularly the way they can be used as either power or skill depending on the class. The fact that it supports solo play right out of the gate is awesome too. I look forward to seeing how Gerry and Justin get on with the system over the course of this week.

I'm interested in how the group that was playing a later period modified the game. I love it, but I think that War of 1812, etc. would be interesting. One would basically only need a flavored US nationality list and an additional monster or two from Native traditions to make it work. Not a big tweak at all.
