So I guess I have to admit, with all the information so generously offered, it would be a shame not to practice diligently. There are many people taking their time to inspire us, and so much good music waiting to be played. Here’s to all the nice folks giving us good reason to “make a joyous sound to the lord.” Thank you for the information and the tab sheets.

Hey! Thanks! I followed your instructions. I am learning. Thought I would try to play Sweet Lelani. By golly, I figured it out! By understanding the harmonics it wasn't hard, and I found the song was much easier to play than I thought it would be. Another really easy song to play in E is "Candy Kisses." No slants. For those who may not know, "Sweet Lelani" won an Oscar. It was written by Harry Owens for his baby daughter. Sung by Bing Crosby.

Nice lesson. Basic stuff that will take me a long ways. I've been working the melodies as you stated and have really improved as a player. Thank you.

Of all the tutorials on youtube I like yours best. Don't bury me in a bunch of theory, just show me where to put the bar (or my fingers, on a regular guitar) to make the sounds I need to make. Love this. More please!

(Speaking for all of the self taught people who can't read music and wouldn't know a root or 6th note if it was dancing with their sister! After all, nearly everyone learns to talk without knowing how to read or what what the parts of speech are.)

Ha!!!! I just played "You are My Sunshine" by ear. 1st song officially learned in ANY form just by this simple lesson!!! Thank you so much. Please bring more and more of these smaller staples! I am better at ear and memory vs. reading.

Can't believe how easy this actually is! And just using 2 strings! Thank you for such a simple explanation!

This wouldn't work with an E6 tuning, would it? Just an open E?
@rzsdad17 жыл бұрын
J Tucker depending on how your E6 tuning is laid out it may work. for instance if your 3rd string is G# and your first string is E it would be the same

I'm a brand new learner at this lap steel... I have mine tuned to an open E. I'm practicing the scale from your video which is great but I wish I could see what strings your playing... I'm very confused... I put dots on lap steel not sure if they are even right found them on a website. Unfortunately there is no one in my area that give lap steel lessons.... but thank you for the video.. :)

How are you supposed to hit strings 1 and 3 without hitting string to
@rzsdad14 жыл бұрын
Play string 1 with your middle finger pick at the same time as you play string 3 with your thumb pick.
@johnsinger91564 жыл бұрын
Please show both hands!!! The notes (3rd's and open 5th's etc) that the right hand is picking is as important as the maj/min 3rd's your doing with the bar. Thanks for taking time to share what you know. Explain both hands please!?!

Is the open low E an E2 or E3 on piano?
@rzsdad14 жыл бұрын
Same as the low E note as an electric or acoustic guitar. Can you let us know whether it is E2 or E3?
@iamrocketray3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I actually understood and followed that and I cant even play a triangle.
