I am really lucky. Out of the 4 70mm IMAX cinemas in Europe there is one in Czechia in all countries! Not in Germany, not in France but in Czechia. It's the one time I am happy to live there.

Saw it last night in Indianapolis one of the 30 theaters in America. It was the full IMAX 70mm projection. It truly was one of the greatest pieces of film I've watched and experienced. The shots were absolutely immersive and breathtaking. Outside of Nolan's genius, it was just a stunning experience. Truly the most true format for cinema.

I’m seeing it in IMAX digital on July 20. Then on July 22, me and my friend are driving all the way to Buford Georgia to see it in IMAX 70mm. It’ll be the first time I see a movie in IMAX 70mm, and I am pumped.

I am lucky enough to live only 2 hours away from Hollywood. It is going to be great seeing this movie on 70mm IMAX at 1245 am. For so many reasons this film seems to have great timing. Coldwar basically defined my childhood, older now and living in a country with the largest military spending is crazy (40% is Defense 877 Billion$). We could be gone tomorrow, or not. This will be impressive to see, thank you Nolan.

Can’t wait to see the movie when it officially comes out. Both my friend and I are going to be seeing the IMAX 70 mm presentation of Oppenheimer on opening weekend at the Regal UA King of Prussia theater.

I’m going to see it in IMAX 70mm but if that wasn’t available near me I’d go for 70mm (non IMAX) film. I’d rather have the higher resolution offered by that format than the taller but lower resolution image of the digital IMAX versions. Nolan has been careful to frame the film so that it also works well in the wider aspect ratio of standard 70mm film

I got two tickets to it in IMAX 70mm for Saturday July 22nd. Pretty excited! I will try to remember to update this comment post watch and let you all know how the experience was! July 21st Review: So I just got out of the theatre from Oppenheimer and wow. The photography and the actors we’re phenomenal. And the visuals without any CGI looked breathtaking. All that in 70mm IMAX format was insane. 10/10 for me.

I live in downtown Providence, RI and I'm just a short walk from one of those 30 theaters worldwide that is screening in IMAX 70 MM film. I actually bought my ticket for opening day on 7/20 without realizing just how special such a showing really is, and how lucky I am! Needless to say, after learning this, I am doubly excited!

I live in Atlanta and I was able to get tickets for opening weekend in 70mm IMAX down at Regal Mall of Georgia and it is only 15 minutes away from where I live. Super excited and cannot wait for a cinematic masterpiece!

I didn’t know Arizona only has one and I’ve gone to it multiple times but never knew it did 70mm film!! Gonna have such a bigger appreciation while watching this movie.

Lucky enough to live in a city with a 70mm IMAX theater here in Tempe, AZ! I usually skip that particular theater because I normally stick to AMC to make the most of my A-list subscription, but this movie more than warrants paying for the ticket.

There is one 70mm Imax in my state. But im going to see it in IMAX with laser first since the other drive is far. If i love it i will see it again in 70mm imax. It will be my first time if i do. This movie is bringing everyone back to theaters

Booked in to see this in IMAX 70mm at the Vue Cinemas Manchester Printworks cinema in UK for opening day. I think its only one of two cinemas in the UK that can actually exhibit the format, the other being the BFI IMAX. I cannot wait for this!

I've worked in camera, in the lab and in vfx post production and I've always loved the colours and tones that Eastmancolor can produce. I have no argument with the notion that the resolution of IMAX is the highest cinema format in the world and that given the right subject which visually exploits all that detail, it would be the ideal format. Bear in mind though that shooting in IMAX is extremely expensive compared with the already high cost of 35mm or digital. The massive cameras and associated cranes, dollies and other equipment make it an especially cumbersome format for production. The colour positive prints are extremely expensive, require a lot of pre-projection handling and Oppenheimer's long running time required that projector platters be enlarged. The sound track mentioned in the video comes from a digital disk, not the film (this rather recalls the old Warner Brothers Vitaphone sound process - God help them if they ever get out of sync) so it would be the same for either a film or digital screening. Is the best reason to see a film in IMAX is the sound track? I sure hope not! I saw Oppenheimer in (digital projected) IMAX and while I thought it was a good story, well told I just didn't see the need for it to have been shot it in IMAX. It could have been just as visually impacting shot on 35mm or with hi-rez digital cameras. For me, IMAX was pure indulgence on this film. I suppose you could argue that without Nolan's films, 65mm would simply die out and that might well be true but IMHO this exceptional format should be saved for something more visually overwhelming. Epics like "Napoleon" or "Barry Lyndon" or "Flags of our Fathers"/"Letters from Iwo Jima" or "2001: A Space Odyssey" come to mind, not something like Oppenheimer which for the most part is about people talking, usually in B+W with a few explosion vfx cuts.

After being released over 6 weeks ago, I was able to book a ticket two weeks in advance for the AMC Lincoln Square 13 & IMAX, apparently the largest IMAX screen in North America. I have already seen the film in 70MM so I’m excited for the big screen!

I live in Indonesia, and currently there are no IMAX 70mm cinema available to watch this masterpiece, but luckily there are still digital IMAX cinema just a drive away from my home, glad can still watch this movie in IMAX format although it’s not the fullest aspect ratio

I live in a city with a Liemax theater, but for Oppenheimer I'm making the 3 hour drive to go see it in 70mm IMAX at Opry Mills in Nashville!

I'll be traveling to Pooler, GA where they built the new tallest IMAX in the world (76ft high by 101 ft wide) with recliners. Unfortunately it won't be 70mm but will be dual 4k laser. Still excited to see it there.

I’m in London. Watching this at the BFI IMAX on 70mm film!

The format I viewed the film in was regular 70mm. I do have an AMC and a Showcase Cinema that had a liemax version, however these cinemas were converted into liemax. The closest IMAX version was at a furniture store in MA, however it can become a WWF match for seating as it is first come first serve. Had a sore neck watching Interstellar due to having no choice but sitting very close to the screen at this location. Film had started yet individuals were still trying to find seats. The honest to god best format was in Providence, RI but each way was a 45 minute drive and that would be if traffic was perfect on the highway. And that it never is.

We go the huge screen here in Germany but did not get the IMAX 70mm... So I will have to see it in regular 70mm print but at least I get to see it in the largest capacity cinema in Germany, seating about 1200 people. Lichtburg in Essen is not only big but damn beautiful with 1920s styling (was restored to its former glory after being damaged in WW2), a big balcony (where I will be front and center, best seats in the house) and overall just vibes of the golden age of film!

I’ll be watching it in a 1.43:1, 60ftX80ft IMAX (D2 Laser) theatre in Reading, MA. Not quite the 70mm 15p film experience but still excited for the original aspect ratio on a large screen.

Hi from the Netherlands. Going to watch it at Pathé cinemas in Rotterdam in IMAX Digital. Unfortunately no 70mm anymore, but we do have IMAX with Laser 4K and the 12 track soundsystem and the acoustics are really good. Audio is loud, but never to bright or too loud that it hurts your ears, but yeah, it is LOUD! 😁

Seeing it in 70MM imax at the garden state plaza AMC it’s like 30 mins away so not bad I can’t wait!

Cinemark in Dallas is showing Oppenheimer in 70mm imax but every time slot is sold out for 3 weeks in advance. I might end up watching in normal 70mm or imax dual laser at amc which are available

Here in France, no Imax 70mm unfortunately. Only digital Imax laser at best. So i choose regular theater* with 70mm. It was spectacular ! (* not so "regular" as it was one of the best theater worldwide : Grand Rex in Paris).

I am very close to a theater playing it on 70mm film, but literally EVERY showtime for 2+ weeks is completely sold out. The Regal app and Fandango don’t show it playing beyond that. I am from south east michigan & the Michigan Science Center in Detroit is going to play it in IMAX 70mm projection but it is a Dome IMAX theatre with fish eye lens on the projector. Is it better to watch it in flat/ rectangular IMAX theatre or Dome IMAX theatre is good enough ? if Dome theatre is okay then what would be the best seats ? I've heard ppl complaining about neck craning & feeling disoriented in Dome theatres. Could you please advise.

Are there 70 mm non-film formats? The reason I ask is because here in the Phoenix area 2 AMC locations and 1 Harkins location show 70mm showings but only the Harkins location is listed on the IMAX website as on of the 30 locations? Any thoughts?

i'll be watching it in IMAX in K11 Musea in Hong Kong. based on your list there are no theaters in Hong kong that can play actual IMAX 1570 film? Is that correct? So what I'll be seeing is just a digital version right? They have IMAX in laser though so not sure how much of a difference that makes.

I called my local Cinemark 18 IMAX XD Theater and they did not have a clue what I was talking about when I asked them what they aspect ratio of this movie we would be viewing? OMG Seriously? The person on the phone said they asked 2 manager and they did not know and her other response was they just make the money selling concessions?

Sadly in India there are no operational 15 perf 70 millimetre imax theatres....so if I watch it on standard IMAX theatre or IMAX laser theatres the print of the movie will be 'film' or 'digital' ???

I want to go to watch Oppenheimer in 70mm film in the Dallas location, but the last day it’s shown on imax 70mm is Sunday Sept, 3rd. Maybe some other time.

Which is better-(1) Watching the 70mm film version of Oppenheimer from a “bad seat” (which are fairly plentiful in a typical theater of this type, be it too close or off to the side), or (2) Watching the film in an IMAX digital theater from a good seat in the house, which I suspect is easier to reserve.

I’m in Langley and me,uncle and cousin got tickets for 70mm imax The movie is almost out in 25 days and the seats were almost gone So I’m so glad I got a ticket cause I never seen a Christopher Nolan movie in theatres before Well I saw the dark knight but it was a screening in the community centre So I’m not counting it since it wasn’t a theatre

I have a question, I bought my tickets for Oppenheimer in IMAX with Lazer which means it's gonna be 1.9:1 on the screen. And everywhere I go I see that it's produced to watch in 70mm which is 1,43:1. So my question is, what's resolution will be better and if there is any difference between this formats?
