Well, clinically depressed people have trouble adequately taking care of themselves, let alone caring for the multiple needs of children. I understand true depression to be a chemical imbalance in the brain that affects a person's day to day life. If Christine were medically stabilized, she should be okay as a mom. If not, this is not an ideal situation. Clinical depression is far different than just being stressed or feeling sad.

They're very likely to have serious problems. My mother's cousin adopted a boy and a girl, after their father murdered their mother. She provided a loving, supportive home for them with her two biological children. But the boy has struggled with substance abuse in adulthood. You can't just love some things away. And substance abuse or not, they'll still suffer from the trauma of their father murdering their mother. Can you imagine being reminded of that, every time someone (or something) mentions a father or a mother?

I saw an Oxygen program about this. The oldest child was 5 years old when she "went to Disneyland", and 8 years old when she and her siblings were found in Nicaragua. (Their older half-sister lived with her father, Christine's first husband.) This child weighed THIRTY POUNDS LESS when she was found than she did when she left! She had to be treated for malnutrition, among other things. The sister's dad applied for custody of the children, but was denied, and they went into foster care. Because they still aren't all adults, their whereabouts cannot be revealed. One also wonders what kind of optometrist this guy was!

As I looked into this case a few years back, the children were not in foster care, one of Christine's family members was able to get custody. If they're legitimate, that's one thing, but if they're just wanting to do terrible things to each other because they can, that's another story. I'm curious as to where David's parents got all their money. David certainly didn't have any, because he also had addiction issues.

Cybercrime needs to be exposed and penalized before the victim dies. A lot of us are dealing with this type of stalking and it is very difficult to expose and prosecute the perpetrators. Expose the deeds of darkness, in Jesus name.

If I want to go anywhere I have to drain the batteries. It's not taken seriously enough by the cops until something like this happens. I see you are a fellow believer in Jesus Christ. Love to you. Please pray for me. The situation I'm in is rapidly escalating.😢

This one I disagree with Dr. The sister said “I’m in the plan” the moment she asked for custody of the kids. Staying in Texas and asking this was her part in the plan. The level of toxicity in that family is colossal. They should be locked up.

My son married a woman who was emotionally & pyhsically abusive to him. He could never get police help. Unfortunately he died in an accident before she was finally brought to justice for abusing their daughter who was a teenager by then. She lost custody and it did my heart good to sit in the courtroom and hear the judge finally sentence her. I felt like my son had justice at last. I'm so glad these people did not get custody of the Children.Sometimes sideways justice is the best you get.

I believe you're wrong about Amy. If she was not in prison she would find those kids & once again destroy their lives, plus the lives of whoever is caring for them now. Even if she wasn't as involved as the other three, her brother would manipulate her into it. A very evil family, I wish we could find out what attracted her to that psychopath.

Even if Christine was dead, David’s parental rights were still terminated so he wouldn’t have gotten custody anyways. I guess they were hoping his sister would get the kids, but it would be insane to think that would ever happen. The delusions that went into this crime are wild. It’s crazy that all four of these grown adults thought it was a good plan.

This happened near me and we were all shocked when it happened. I felt so horrible for Christine and her neighbor friend Laura who only went with Christine to give her support from her monster ex and in laws. I was not one who thought that it was an over reach. I wanted all three of them to get life without parole. Too bad Lenore didn’t get to serve much time but I’m sure she’s in a very hot place now. I feel bad for Laura because she gets forgotten in this case because she’s not directly related to the custody and was only there to help her friend. RIP to Christine and Laura.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A girl whose mother was shot to death by the child’s grandfather at a Delaware courthouse testified Monday that she had never been sexually abused by her mother, had an “awesome” relationship with her - and was not surprised when she was killed. The 13-year-old testified for about 40 minutes behind closed doors in federal court against her father, former optometrist David Matusiewicz; her grandmother, Lenore Matusiewicz; and her aunt, Amy Gonzalez.

This case reminds me of the recent murders of Ashley and Dennis Prince in Las Vegas. Ashley was engaged in a contentious custody case with her ex-husband, Dylan Houston. At a deposition for the case, her ex-father in law, Joe Houston, shot the Princes before killing himself. It would be a compelling video.

Why wasn't this a simple conspiracy to commit murder? Did they need the cyberstalking part so that the cyberstalking evidence could be brought in to prove they were all part of the conspiracy to commit murder? If you think about it, without allowing in the cyberstalking evidence, it would be hard to get "all of them were in on it". The cyberstalking was a common thing they had.

The more I hear stories of these nightmare in-laws, the more I thank God for my husband’s parents. I didn’t think of them as in-laws, they actually introduced me to their son, who became my husband. I just knew them as these super sweet couple who knew I was going through a tough time. I had a daughter from a previous relationship, and they NEVER made a difference between the grandchildren. What they gave to their other grandchildren, they gave to my daughter. My husband I have a son together, and I feel so blessed to have them in my life. They have passed on, and I miss them like crazy.
