In the ’80s summers were endless. Time didn’t exist. Friends were the most important things, not iPhones. The girls were wonderful. The parties were awesome. Life had some optimistic aura. Love was felt so deep, everyone had time for me, we had everything we need to be happy, every kiss was larger than anything today, every dream was to come true, we were so imperfect but that made us just perfect, everything we felt was pure and deep, everything we were doing was innocent. And all those faces of my friend with those smiles....priceless. Clubs were awesome, music cut deeper into our hearts than anything today. We were innocent creatures who just wanted to give love, to be loved, to have good friends, and a lot of fun with them. Some of them are not with us anymore. I am sure that they waiting for me somewhere up there......and I am sure that when we meet again that we will be 17 again and that we will smile again, dance again, play guitar, that we will tell old stories again....ohh often I can't wait. In my adult life, I have responsibly done everything that was expected. I worked hard, paid my bills, find a great partner, traveled, suffered at my work, saved, sacrificed, invested, was kind, honest, responsible, and maintained health and friendships but no matter what I do and how hard I tried nothing, nothing ever come even close to the beauty of those years, to that innocence, to that intensity, to that first kiss. Nothing that I can expect in the rest of my life will ever come close to it. From now on it will be one problem after another, with deteriorating health and decay. Our Father, who art in heaven…if you think that I carried my cross long enough….take me back to that place and time of the 80s and just leave me there. That is my place for eternal life. And please keep my batteries in the Walkman always full.

AND NOW, SOME 5 MONTHS LATER, I STUMBLE UPON THIS BAND AND DOWNLOAD THEIR BEST OF, AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW, THIS SONG IS THERE. I'M A REALLY HAPPY PERSON TODAY.

Ah! Ah! Ah! I did this exact same thing at work because i couldn't find it in any 80' compilations! It was the song "I´m so excited" by the Pointer Sisters.

I have had a great and deep search but the music today is just not as good, sorry...most of the chart music is about sex, and not making love, but rutting like animals, and the good stuff is hidden away.

Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands?

I took a trip to London the year this came out, I was all alone for days traveling, went into a record store and this was playing. I immediately asked what it was and bought it as a 12 inch 45. Ive never forgotten this moment. I went home to USA and this was never on the radio or charts. I couldn't understand why. The little song had such a profound effect on my feelings, but could never share that with anyone.

Listening to this stops me dead in my tracks and immediately catapults me back to my teenage youth of first loves, zero worries, even less responsibilities and a happier life. I can remember spending my first summer in the USA as a 18 year old Brit making love to the most gorgeous American girl to the entire OMD album. This song and anything else from their 1988 ‘best of omd’ album literally sends me into a temporary paralysis with happy nostalgic vibes. Thank god for music, talented artists and technology. Go forth and enjoy. Remembering CeAnn, Seattle, 1993. Best summer ever…
