That first guy to upload the shuffle really had it down. You can see his commitment reflected in the expressiveness of his moves in a way that’s absent from other attempters

The pinegrove shuffle is a dance of sadness, grief, the feeling of losing something that was never there to begin with. The flailing of the arms actually fit perfectly with song’s lyric “theres nothing here to care about”, like a bodily outpouring of frustration and anger with no direction, hence the flail. The shuffling of the feet could also be seen as one walking and stumbling through life’s trials and the flurry of emotions, cycling through the mountains and valleys of life’s hardships. Finding someone new, falling in love, only to have your heart broken and end up back where you started. Thats the pinegrove shuffle.

Though it can very much so be the feeling of losing something that was there or never fully got to be there. Injuries, relational, emotional, as well as physical and cognitive. For me it's a the profound sadness and empty feeling of having to move on despite that loss. It encapsulates my life enormously well at the moment, sadly.

Focus on the hands and notice how limp, loose, and carefree they are. Take a look. The hands are in juxtaposition to the incentive concentration of intent on his face as his body recoils backward from the jump forward as if something within him is preventing the jump-off.

The meme is wholesome enough where that take is both right and wrong. I mean the bit where he said some indie artists are upset over the trend. If it was some stupid ass meme like half of the shit that usually goes out they'd be 100% right. But the meme itself is so down to earth that if anything it's just really great exposure/press for the band. But a meme is a meme, so there's definitely gonna be kids saying "oh that's that one meme song" or "oh that's that one meme band" and there lies the problems of getting recognition through a meme. Wholesome or not, memes do in fact take away some of the songs meaning and art as said in the video because now it's forever linked to memes in general as apposed to being just a very good song.

That happened to me with "Shooting Stars" by Bag Raiders. I used to listen to that song for years before it became a meme. It was one of my all time favorite songs. I suppose it still is now, but it's a little harder to listen to because I think about how it became a giant meme. I can definitely see how it could ruin the music for people, because it's happened to me to an extent.

It'll be a welcome breath of fresh air from all the times they play songs that everyone stopped caring about when newer, better songs came their way (they are still playing Rude even though Running Up That Hill and About Damn Time are right there), even though much of the time they play timeless songs.

They're just so good in terms of musicality, singing, and lyrics that remind me of a somewhat midwest emo, but if it was written by a mature person rather than an angsty teen (I still love mid-emo)

Personally, this trend feels like a form of prayer and a way to let go in a harsh and nihilistic world. When I sway my arms in this particular manner, it's as if I'm conveying to the world, "I've had enough. I'm done with all the struggles, and now I just want to loosen up and truly enjoy life." And when I do it with my friends, the experience becomes even more meaningful. For me, this trend is about releasing my inner emotions through dance and finding solace in the presence of my closest companions. It's a way of expressing my frustrations, fears, and burdens, and then letting them go with each sway of my arms. Through this physical movement, I feel a sense of liberation and a renewed connection with my own vitality. Dancing alongside my friends who share the same desire to escape the pressures of our daily lives strengthens the impact of this trend. It creates a powerful bond of unity and support. We are all seeking respite from the demands of the world, and together, we find joy and comfort in each other's company. In essence, this trend serves as a reminder that life is not just about the hardships and obligations we face. It's about finding moments of bliss, celebration, and self-expression. By engaging in this dance, I am able to release pent-up emotions, rejuvenate my spirit, and experience the sheer joy of living. It's a way for me to say, "I'm here, and I'm ready to embrace life with all its ups and downs, surrounded by the best people who uplift my soul. Don't let this trend be about feeling sadness, let it grow and blossom into something beautiful and happy a means of letting go. pin me. please.

Interesting how although no one can pinpoint the exact reason, everyone unanimously agree's the first guy is by far the best to do it. One reason that i can notice, is that while everyone elses arms seem to be mechanically moving into proper choreographed position, the first guy seems to allow gravity and leverage to do most of the work, whilst giving as little mechanical effort as possible. It gives his arms a super fluid, loose and effortless swingy look. Also, the fact he lurches forward and back in almost the exaxt same positioning. His feet are touching the same spots on the ground every time, giving it a controlled "running in place" look. Almost like your in a character select screen in a video game, and you're seeing the same character animation repeat over and over. Whilst others don't seem to have the same spacial awareness. This still begs the question, the first guy was the first to upload the dance, so he created the dance move?
