So normally we break up our catches and crossing up into individual events, but we are trying something new and making a single vieo of our CP CASO train coverage for almost the entire day of March 28, 2023.
We say almost, because we have already release a partial video of the CASO train crossing Broad Street(Hwy 3) crossing in Dunnville from the same night as this video. Which you can see in the link below.
The CASO train crossing Broad Street in Dunnville, Ontario • The CASO train crossin...
This video covers 2 additional CASO train crossing and one bonus Hamilton Sub crossing at Philips Road as well as some driving segments through the city of Welland and Wainfleet area.
Unfortunately a large amount of this video was recorded at dusk and night of course the video quality is probably a little below standard.
However this is the only time the CASO train makes it's run and so you get what you can get.
Lastly this train is still titled under Canadian Pacific Railway(CPR) because it was film on March 28, 2023. The CPKC name change was not offical until April 18, 2023.
Below video are broken into individual segements
0:00 -- Driving on Main Street East in Welland, Ontario
1:19 -- Bonus train catch at Philips Road east of the CP Welland Yard on the CP Hamilton Subdivision
3:16 -- Driving on Wilford Road in Wainfleet, Ontario
5:54 -- Catching CP CASO train crossing Putman Road in WellandPort, Ontario
11:20 - More driving near CASO(RTP) line
12:30 - Catch CP CASO train crossing Highway 4
Some caveats to the language used in this video
You may hear us say the CASO is a subdivision, Spur or DRTP. Of course this line has had many name changes and has operated under many companies over a 100 years, but current operator Canadian Pacific Railway(2023).
All these different names are the same description for the same track line with the current being CP CASO(DRTP) - "DRTP" is short for Detroit River Tunnel Partnership.
Other names this line was known as was CN CASO Subdivision, NY Central Mainline, Michigan Central Railway(MCR) mainline and a few other not listed, but the Canada Southern Railway(CASO) we believe is the most famous of all the terms for this line.

We could not find the Offical milepost for the Putman Road milepost at trackside and so we made an estimate using Vineland Townline road crossing CASO(DRTP) milepost marker of 20.87 as a reference.
We discovered that there was a difference of about 2.15 miles rom there and mark Putman Road crossing milepost at about 23.02 on the CASO(DRTP)
Also the same with Highway 4 crossing we discover it was 5.26 mile difference from Vineland Townline road as an estimate marking it as milepost 26.13 on the CASO(DRTP)
Lastly we want to give thanks to Matt the Railfan @matttherailfan on provided us some the detail one needs to track this CASO train down. Highly recommend his channel if you like these types of videos!
Anyway if you enjoy this video then we have some other video the other active remanent of the former CASO line.
