Synopsis :
C'est l'histoire d'un jeune garçon traumatisé par la mer, qui va trouver refuge chez une grand-mère peintre.
It's a story about a young boy who is afraid of the sea. He finds shelter, in the house of an old woman who paints the sea.

A little under four minutes and this short film conveyed so much more story without any words than full length films with heavy exposition. Well done.

The animation of the water and the wood is impressive. Also, I like that the paintings of the old woman affect the imagination of the kid.

Pour les Américains: The animation of the boy is just perfect. A little rough but wonderful anyway. And of course the water is magnificent.

Love the watercolour style, it very much fits with the topic of paintings. The animations in the first 2 minutes are consistently great!

This is great stuff, a touching story with compelling visuals. My one (very minor) quibble is that it seems like only the beginning of a larger story, rather than a complete story in itself.

I went back to the beginning... The red stroke on the sea... did he paint the boy and his story to life with just one stroke on a blue sea? Funny thing is, I would love that painting, as it was when he left it, hanging on my bedroom wall.

Vos films sont toujours très beaux, pertinents, profonds, intelligent et un peu mélancoliques. J'adore le travail que vous faites et suis surprise que vous ne soyez pas plus connus.

I could see this kind of animation in a Disney film for the story of a hero character...very moving

I am not sure, but I think that the girl is the old woman... It reminds me a story of a man and his wife: one day, a turtle come to the man from the sea and she asks to that man to follow her. He came in a beautiful world in the sea, and, he takes 3 day in that underworld. But once he came back, his wife was old, the World changed. The fact is, during 3 days in the sea, years passed at the surface.

C'est une teinte d'aquarelle bleu plutôt foncé (sans doute celle qu'on voit sous le titre au début), et qui rappelle bien sûr la mer, peut-être particulièrement la mer en tempête (?). En plus, le "Outre" renforce la théorie du réfugié, si on donne un synonyme ça ferait "par-delà la mer", donc il vient de l'autre côté en gros. Et si on veut vraiment aller plus loin, ça ressemble à l'expression Outre-tombe, et la femme (la mère de l'enfant ?) qui se noie a la mer pour tombe. J'espère que ça peut répondre à ta question :)

I think it's her own house, because her paintings are there. And the boy is a refugee who hides there after he lost his mother.

Bonsoir, je me présente rapidement. Je m'appelle Louise et j'ai 14ans. Je me cherche un peu et quand je suis tombée sur votre chaîne il a quelques mois j'ai tout de suite accroché. Et je suis de plus en plus intéressée. J'aimerais apprendre à le faire et je voulais savoir si quelqu'un ne connaîtrait pas une application pour faire de petits court métrage comme ceux ci :) merci beaucoup

Bon ton message date de 1 an mais au cas ou tu n est pas décroché de l envie de faire ceci je peux te conseiller d utiliser Krita qui est certe tres leger par rapport a d autre logiciel mais tu peux facilement trouver des tutos sur youtube. Apres l animation est tres compliquée et fastidieuse et je ne suis pas une experte du tout😂. Apres ces court metrage sont des traveaux de fin d etude donc ils ont vraiment appris beaucoup de choses pour en arriver la

Bon apres je te dis ca mais il faut deja avoir une tablette graphique pour utiliser correctement krita ,ce logiciel est gratuite et est aussi pas mal du tout pour faire du digital painting 😉
