Synopsis :
Jude, park ranger fatiguée, peine à trouver sa place dans son équipe. Déterminée à prouver sa valeur, elle découvre un endroit du parc où elle se trouvera plus seule que jamais.
Tired park ranger Jude struggles to find her place in her team. Her determination to prove herself leads her to a place where she'll find herself lonelier than ever.

This story is on the level of stories like Heavy Rain and The Last of Us. I like that the protagonist is a flawed human that even if she made a mistake we can still empathize with her feelings of fear and pain. Does killing someone by accident makes you evil, or just someone not so different from the rest of us? Forget the sociopathic Rick Sanchez, this woman is the kind of flawed character I want to hug and say to that everything is going to be okay, even if I am not sure.

this is a very solid short, in a good way this is different from what you'd see in an animated short made by students, more serius plot and a powerfull storytelling, I would definitly watch a feature like this.

I can't stop thinking about this. There was so many emotions packed into such a short amount time, yet all tied together to create a stunning visual. Absolutely amazing!

3:23 I love this composition, as the guy is there lying next to the same deers he killed. It's made almost as to let us know that there isn't much of a difference. Excellent short, really loved the photography and tone. As always with Gobelins shorts, they make great use of colour as to reflect the state of mind of the protagonist.

Spellbinding work... The character acting as well as the voice acting is sensational. Understanding the title is essential to the film, conveying both Jude's feelings and the crime she's witnessing at the shed: "OUT OF SEASON"

Absolutely phenomenal. I loved how obvious it was that Jude felt undermined although not explicitly stated. And how raw and viceral everything was. Absolutely fantastic

The framing at 3:35 is exquisite. You see the door barely lit, slightly ajar, and even as she’s dealing with her emergency, a further fear grows in your mind…

I can honestly say, this is the best student animation short I've ever seen. I've been following Gobelins ever since Pyrats came out something like a decade ago. Every few years, I blast through all the shorts that have been uploaded since last, and this one took the cake. Even compared to pro studios, this one is still up there with some of the best I've seen. Maybe it's because it pressed the right buttons for me, maybe it's because it's _just that good._ The style, the commitment, the understanding of humans as characters and moving creatures, the self reflection and the artistic choices are all on point. _Very_ excited to see more from these four people.

Wow. Perso je trouve que c'est le meilleur court métrage des Gobelins cette année. La composition des plans, la réa, l'éclairage, c'est dingue. C'est un peu dans la même ambiance que les comics d'Emily Carrol en plus donc bref, c'est parfait

Esse filme é espetacular! Amei as cores, a paisagem e a história. Jude queria provar que podia resolver o problema, que não estava velha, tomou uma decisão precipitada, apesar de sua experiência de vida. Nós humanos erramos quando somos motivados por raiva, despeito, inveja e vaidade. Tudo que Jude sentiu ao se comparar com a colega de trabalho mais jovem. Tout le moment du court-métrage, j'étais certaine que Jude était aveugle à cause de la couleur de ses yeux et de sa posture, ainsi que de ses réflexes dans différentes situations. Je ne pense pas qu'elle le soit au final, mais j'ai adoré le court-métrage!

Sweet jumping Jehosephat, that was top notch. Framing, pacing, tight script. Capable of surprising because it refuses to beeline to cliche. Keeps things very human, very believable. A gut punch.
