Bill rould have been rather young when Eamonn de Valera resigned as Taoiseach [prime minister of the Republic of Ireland] in 1959. He went on to be President of Ireland for two seven year terms into his old age. He had a Spanish father, was an American citizen and was raised in his grandparents' home in Co. Limerick. He was the only one of his rank to survive the Easter Rising of 1916. He was an extremely complex figure who left a rather complicated legacy personally, political and financially in terms of his family's ownership of Irish Press newspapers. I was impressed Bill had remembered him.

I barely heard anything from Jane Ferguson the whole show. While Meachum is an interesting guy Ferguson is far more experienced and knowledgeable in world affairs especially in conflict zones. Way more interesting person whose appearance on the segment was a total waste of her valuable time. Adding insult to injury is the "health and lifestyle expert" with the lips talking about what people are deliberately doing to harm their bodies and obviously their minds in order to meet the expectation of today's "beautiful". Not healthy but what the "trend" tells her is beautiful. She could almost pass for AI. SMH. BTW the lips on these women who use filler make them look like cartoons. So tired of the hypocrisy.

Still looking for the right place to comment on the panel portion... Raised in the same era as Jon and Bill, brought up in the ATL. Mom was a teacher, dad a photo journalist with UPI and AP. He covered Montgomery while MLK was working it, the March across the Pettis Bridge to the Capitol. Riots in Birmingham, was standing in the hallway with his cameras behind George Wallace as the Governer was barring the door from integration at University of AL. Was present at so many significant events in the struggle for Civil Rights to bear witness and bring the public eye to the changing times. As a JOURNALIST. His personal "politics" were never part of the story as reported. Who, What, Where, When. Never "Why". That's the job of an editoralist, or commentator, or historian in the final analysis. Daddy was a staunch, life-long, Republican. But you would never know it from his body of work. That's the job of the 4th Estate. To be the check and balance on the checks and balances. Impartial, in spite of the personal. 87/87 Democrats at NPR? If they are doing their job right, we should never know and the story is the news. Not the ones reporting.

Real Time seems to have veered off course in recent years, particularly since the onset of the Trump presidency. It used to be an hour of engaging nuanced debates, but now feels more like a platform for the host's personal frustrations and grievances. The show's focus has shifted towards providing catharsis for Bill Maher. I see mainly repeated talking points and panelists with only TV charisma and little substance (I don't mean this particular panel. Jon Meacham is a great pundit). Maher's fixation on calling out 'wokes' has become a recurring theme, dominating each episode to the detriment of broader and more pressing socio-political issues.

Because Woke is a cancer that needs to be called for the Fantasyland that it is. Did you miss that little part where he showed children .... forced to take in the Tranny show? Bill's right about restaurants. They use the cheapest of any produce, the cheapest cooks, servers. They use no-stick teflon pans and god knows how many plastic particles you get from restaurant food. The Irish PM left due to losing a failed referendum. The far left changing the wording so much that reasonable Irish people had to say no. In a nut shell, all Irish women wanted was for the line ‘a women’s place is in the home’ removed. But no, the government meddled too far. The new wording would have protected abusive relationship by calling any relationship a family. So I could date a guy for a few months and he could argue we were a family and be entitled to part of my inheritance if a parent was to die. Devalera was an American! Who was the worst leader ever. There is some wisdom in what you say: I have a dear friend turning 101 later this month. She is nearly blind. Her mind is mostly good, but her memory is failing. She finds her mounting deficits, both mental and physical aggravating and tiring.Thankfully she is not in significant pain, but she is done with life. I speak with her everyday on the phone and she tells me daily that she wants to go to heaven (she is not especially religious but this is the language she uses). She was very health conscious her whole life: ate very little food that wasn't organic and healthy. She was a devoted member of a local walking club, so she exercised every day. Her doctor says she has the heart of an 80 year old and though at her age she could have a catastrophic organ failure at any time, there is no imminent demise on the horizon. Lessons? Maybe have that piece of pizza or a drink with friends.

Bill uses the word, 'They' much too freely. Some restaurants 'don't care' and others do. Those who do are not necessarily Vegetarian restaurants. I spent many years in the restaurant business, and know that owners and managers and Chefs are all keenly aware not only of what sells and taste great, but of what the general mood/desires of their customers and of the general population want. If it's healthier to use olive oil, garlic, fresh herbs, or even a Coke Zero, they will do it.

True. Also, when he asked the difficulty of covering it from the Gazan side, she didn’t mention that if she were in Gaza, she wouldn’t be allowed to say anything they don’t want her to say, and her life would be in danger if she tried. Also, it’s not true that Israel doesn’t let reporters in. It’s just dangerous. Douglas Murray went. And I’ve seen another KZfaqr there asking questions as well. Did she try? Or even ask? As an aside, she would be in danger in Gaza, under the best of circumstances, if she dressed the way she did on the show.

Bill should have an expert about semiglutides on his show to get a balanced discussion. Michaels seemed to be there to enforce his bias against them. So much of what she said was flat out wrong (50% have people GI issues), or completely of context (link to pancreatic cancer), or unsupported (that it becomes ineffective after 78 weeks). I wish fitness experts like Michaels would view this as an effective tool people can use to develop healthy eating habits and encourage adequate protein with resistance training to reduce muscle loss. I think everyone would be better served in the long term.
