Overview and Impressions of the Wood Knot Repair System Pro

Жыл бұрынIn this shorter video I take a closer look at a recent purchase I made. It is a complete kit designed to repair knots in wood which I think will be really useful with the amount of reclaimed timber I use. Hope you enjoy it 😀.

Do you mean Cyanoacrylate glue? Think you had contact adhesive on the brain

You’re absolutely right pal😂😂. I’ve pinned this message to the top before everyone makes the same observation, and yes I’d been using contact adhesive that day so (pardon the pun) must have been stuck in my mind 🤔😂

Great result Leo. I guess if you’re doing this all the time it’d be worth the dosh. Either way, it’s always nice getting a new tool, especially when it saves you so much time.

It’ll pay for itself in a few jobs Mandy. Anything I earn woodworking wise goes straight back into equipment atm and I think this is a worthwhile investment 😀👍

That's very impressive Leo, you could also use it to cover recessed screws instead of filler or dowels and make that a feature 👍

I have seen Cam using this pal now you mention it. His channel is doing so well now. Been watching it since the early days and it has just gone crazy the last year or so 👍

How tough/hard is the filled knot when its cooled Leo as I couldn’t tell from the video? Hot melt glue gun sticks are always slightly soft even when dried, whereas I guess you want this to be as hard as the wood when set

Great solution to filling irregular holes and knots. Expensive gun though...I imagine they could profit from making a kit for those of us who already have a hot glue gun.

Yes, it does have specific temperatures on the gun pal, but hopefully the knot filler is compatible with just a regular glue gun👍👍

@@Hand-i-Craft The sticks are 12mm gauge and will work on any gun that can reach a stable temp of 170 degrees

I guess a lot of people will be wondering if they can use the sticks in their existing glue guns instead of buying the kit, looks good though Leo

That’s eactly what I was thinking. Its a neat solution but the gun seems very expensive when you can buy other ‘craft’ guns for £15 or thereabouts. From the website you showed it looks like the filler sticks are 12mm diameter, whereas most glue guns are 7mm or 11mm. It would of course be possible to file/carve the sticks down if they couldn’t be pushed through an 11mm gun. I did like the mould that you can use to empty old glue out into and reform into a new stick when changing colour, that’s one issue I have always had with using coloured glue sticks.

You definately can use a regular gun. The big advantage with he wood repair pro gun is a high wattage gun and heats up very quickly, but it is only a glue gun. The secret is the sticks, not the gun.
